Yeah, it does seem like Fourze's gimmick more than anything. I think I'll end up liking the series though. I'm not too nitpicky - I mean, I actually really liked Wizard as well.
Although Gaim is definitely a lot better and today's finale was so good.
Toy-wise, I have a bunch of S.H Figuarts and old Deluxe Sentai Mecha, but I don't really collect Toku toys that much. When I go to Japan, I pick up some for sure, but it's too expensive to be collecting them from Canada so I just buy the dvds instead (which are still freakin expensive).
Yeah, I'm more a fan of ongoing stories. I don't like small events that may seem important, but nobody really talks about or affects the main plot (like Kirihiko's death in W; major event, but forgotten next episode and not brought up again until episode 33-34).
Also, not a fan of Drive's alternate forms. They feel like a Fourze rip-off, except where Fourze could use multiple switches at once, Drive can only use one Shift Car.
Anyway, this weekend I picked up AC03 Kamen Rider Ryugen from Amazon. It's my first toy in the Arms Change line, and it was a good buy, $29, definitely better than $26 for the lame AC13 Kiwami. Though I do wish I had Pine Arms, that looks good on Ryugen. Now I'm thinking of collecting the toys, because they're pretty cool. What toys do you have?
I'm more or less excited. Drive is going back to the W formula so after Gaim it's gonna feel weird. I grew up with Early Heisei so I definitely prefer Gaim's style.
I'm enjoying it greatly. On my Tumblr, I did a total rider count for Gaim, and, counting movie exclusive riders, came out to 34 (counting Bujin Riders). I'm trying to enjoy Gaim's remaining episodes, but I'm just so excited for Drive to come out! I'm hoping it'll be a hybrid of W & Go-Onger. Then again, I'm kinda worried. The last rider to have a car was Black RX, and after his show the series went off the air for at least 10 years. What do you think?
Kabuto is funny lol. The ending is a mess though.
Yeah watching Gaim. The newest episode was OK. But I like the direction it's headed. The episode before was so good though. How are you enjoying it?
I have actually seen Gokaiger. I'm trying to watch shows I've already started before starting new ones. I'm halfway though Shinkenger, I'm watching episodes I missed while watching W, I need to finish OOO, and I'm about 1/4 into Kabuto.
I mainly watch these shows through YouTube, because I don't own my own computer, though sometimes if I want to watch something certain, it may not be in English Subtitles.
Oh, that was your to-watch list. I see. In that case, make Jetman a high priority. That is one fantastic show. As well as Go-Busters, Gokaiger, Timeranger and Liveman.
Also Blade is way better than Kabuto IMO, Blade is my favourite Tokusatsu. xD
As for the Sentai, thank you. Gekiranger is already on my To-Do list, so I'm probably going to watch it later. As for Go-Busters, & Jetman, those are the shows I haven't seen yet. I actually haven't seen too much Tokusatsu, but I'm making progress.
I've built a list based off opinions of others on what I should watch, and it's really long, so I came up with and idea. Take 10 of the shows from the big list...and don't watch any other shows on the big list until you've finished the ones on the small list.
So, my current to-do list is:
1.) Kabuto
2.) Zyuranger
3.) Blade
4.) Gekiranger
5.) Go-Busters
6.) Ultraman Mebius
7.) Liveman
8.) KR Black
9.) Kuuga
10.) Ultraman Tiga
As for MR: The 1st...I haven't watched it yet. A lot of the reviews I've seen were mixed, but I'm hoping to like it. I kinda need to like it...I spent $9 on a DVD version from Amazon. Also, thanks for the reminder about The Next!
Yeah man, there are a lot of Sentai I recommend. Some of the best in my opinion are Gekiranger and Abaranger. Megaranger and GoGo-V are also very fun watches too. You've already seen a lot of my favourites (like Go-Busters and Jetman).
Masked Rider The First is... it's weird. It has some great action and I guess it's a decent attempt at a dark reboot but there is a side-plot that really detracts from the main story. Also, the love triangle is a no-no. It's an alright movie overall, definitely better than The Next. The Next is... it's something else. If you want to watch it, it has it's merits. But it's... definitely not Kamen Rider.
