So, you know how you said that Kamen Rider Kabuto was funny? Well, after finishing OOO (fantastic), Shinkenger (pretty good), and W (great), I decided to start watching Kabuto again. I'm on episode 16, and...yeah, I can see where you're coming from.
Fair enough, I think Toku is something you really need to keep watching for sure. The first two episodes don't do the series justice (especially since those are usually where they get all the main toys out of the way) so it always bugs me when people drop a show soon after starting. As for Mebius, I haven't seen that one yet. Definitely let me know if it should go higher on my to-watch list
I just started watching Ultraman Mebius. I guess, because I'm more used to the fast-paced action of Kamen Rider, the action hasn't been gripping me. But I've only seen the first episode, so I've got a long ways to go.
The AC figures are cool because of the gimmick, it's actually really fun to mix and match. Plus, they're probably in stock now since there isn't as much demand for em. Great toys.
Drive is alright. I can see it getting good in a couple of episodes or so, but it just feels way too fast. I can't get a good feel for the characters.
The show seems less serious than Gaim, and it's trying to get to the status quo quickly. As far as I could tell in Gaim, there wasn't really a status quo. Just pauses in events of the story. Drive wants to have all the characters established so they can get to work telling their 2-Episode-A-Week stories. But so far, I still enjoy it. Sort of like how I enjoy Tokkyuger even though it's not perfect.
So, next week I'm expecting an AC02 Kamen Rider Baron and an AC11 Kamen Rider Gaim Kachidoki Arms from Amazon. It may be a little late to start collecting the line, but I've wanted to see what they're like. I was considering buying the Premium Bandai Armored rider Lockseeds, but those felt like a ripoff. Next I've got my sights on AC01 Gaim & AC05 Zangetsu.
It was a good first episode. I really enjoyed it but yeah, it was very fast and I dislike the gimmick. Overall though, I think I will ended up liking the show.
And yeah, I think that cinematography is just characteristic of what Ryuta Tasaki wanted. I don't think they'll continue with that type of editing.
I know I already sent you a message, but I just re-watched the first episode of Drive and realized: there's a lot of quick shots. Like they have normal movement, then go fast, then normal movement. I hope they don't do that for the whole show.
Sorry I didn't respond for a while. So, did you enjoy Drive's first episode? I thought it was a good start to this show, though it seems more like a mix of Fourze and Kabuto to me.
Something else about Drive's gimmick bothers me; that the Drive Driver pretty much does nothing. It does involve the turning of a key on the side, but most of the work is for the Shift Brace. Why does there need to be a belt? Just make Mr. Belt Tridoron (sounds stupid, but could work), and add a second button on the brace for the Hissatsu. Make it the first rider that doesn't use a belt to transform! Then again, it might be too similar to Tokkyuger's braces. So, if you want the belt, have the shift car turn into a key thingy and plug it into the belt. All I ask for is some integration. What do you think?
