Kyoryuger VS ToQGer Discussion
Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up that Imagination Station has this movie finally subbed!

I think this is the most enjoyable VS movie that's come out in years.
There's some great interaction between the cast, I liked that Ian kept hitting on Mio and Kagura, even if it got a little bit creepy when they changed back into kids. I thought it was great how the villain of the film managed to piss off even the Shadowline, and my favrioute part of the film is easily when Nero tried to do his own rollcall. I also appreciated that they didn't use the cliched plot of past rangers are being controlled by baddies or must fight the current team for some reason or another, though I call BS with how they were able to swap powers like that. I only really have two major complaints: The Nininger cameo was really intrusive and ate too much time I feel like handling the next ranger cameos as an after credit scene like they did for Gobuster VS Kyoryuger is the way to go here. |
It's an alright movie. The plot is quite bare-bones but the action is good and there are quite a few funny moments. Also, the mini-ToQgers are adorable. Baron Nero attempting (and failing horribly) at launching into a Shadow Line roll call is a highlight.
I kind of wish they'd used Toq-Oh Kyoryuzin in this though, instead of both of the giant mechas with trains/batteries switched round. They used the ressha in the cannon anyway, may as well have re-used the existing crossover mech. |
I like how the pacing was slightly different from the typical Sentai vs films we have had so far. The idea that the two teams cannot even phase the opposite grunts because of differing power sources was also cool to see.

Hands down the best vs film since Goseiger vs Shinkenger, and I quite honestly think it's my favourite entry in the vs series overall.
It brought out the very best elements of both series, covered the big plot point left hanging from Kyoryuger and had a whole bunch of fun cameos (I was not expecting to see Mikey again). The kids were utterly superb and made me wish they had a bigger action-orientated role in the film (and the series overall). The Ninninger cameo was a bit weird, but I kinda liked it. It didn't feel completely disjointed like the ToQger one last year, and them kinda hanging about in the woods kinda works when they've done so much training there. |
I think the movie was pretty good; it didn't focus too much on Daigo (it had the usual amount of red focus in a VS movie) and the other Kyoryugers played an okay role. I wanted more Nossan (but I always do) and Utchi and Akira were good together; easily the best combo in the cross over. A close second goes to Hikari and Souji. Nero's attempted role call was pure gold.
I was really surprised at how early the Ninninger reveal was and how long the scene lasted; it brought the movie to a little bit of a halt to show off the new team. Regardless, the final role calls, mech fights, and action sequences were good, so the movie was pretty good. |

This was a good movie overall, but that is just me.
