I think "clunky" is the best way to describe this episode.
First off, the actor playing Brody is... not very good. He reminds me of the Nostalgia Critic imitating M Night Shyamalan... Second, there's WAY too much exposition. Big violation of the "show, don't tell" rule of storytelling. Third, I'm not sure who decided Power Rangers needed a new version of Gaston & LeFou but they are easily the weakest part of this. The comedy they're trying does not work at all. On the other hand I am definitely interested in the universe they're trying to build & I do want to see more. I like Preston & Sarah & I want to learn more about Redbot & Mick (Kelson Henderson's character). The reuse of villain suits is cool too & I think there could be some very creative fights ahead. |

It was average. I wasn't blown away, but I also wasn't immediately turned off by anything. I'm in for a bit to see where it goes.

Not bad. Ticked off an awful lot of bad Neo Saban tropes, but I've always got time and appreciate for a premiere that's entirely original footage. And about as far from the source material as you can get.
Didn't realise Ninja Steel was going to be quite so literal, so that was pretty eyeroll inducing. Theme song is so-so. Liked the beginning but there's too much going on in it to work. Given Baron Nero a new head seemed both unnecessery and unfortunate as he looked terrible, but it was nice to see him in there some way I guess. As was the reuse of the old monster suits.

First episode was okay. Nothing in it that really hooked me but it didn't completely annoy me either. Most of it's flaws are just something I don't like about pretty much every PR season. Like the villains sounding terrible. Storywise this show could go some interesting places though so I'll stick with it for the first year. Just hoping it won't lose me as quick as Dino Charge did.

Wow. Not a good wow. The kind of wow that comes from not believing this thing got made. The theme song is good. Great, actually. And the new origin for the power? That's alright too. But then we get into the performance, the decisions, why the hell is she called Madam Odius and why were they fighting a Fearcat. I tried. I watched. I deleted it from my DVR. I'll just sit here and hope the movie's good.

Not bad for a Neo-Saban season. I enjoyed it a lot tbh.
My only problem is that it was waaaay too similar to Dino Charge's premiere episode but yeah, in chip we trust lmao
