I’ll just stop the wall of text guy before he posts here and point out that IF there is a reference, it’s the Queen’s staff and the way she holds it bearing a resemblance to Duchess Org TsueTsue.
Also, the new villainess looks like the Terror Dopant and she’s voiced by Shroud. Last edited by Androzani84; 08-31-2020 at 05:44 AM.. |

I don't remember sentai having this good of fight choreography.
This was a good episode and I'm glad to see we're making progress in the new arc. I also thought the effects were pretty impressive here, especially during the flashback to the crystal world fighting the sisters. Pretty good blend of practical and CGI effects.

Holy cr*p, I wasn't expecting Mabusheena's curse to start this early! With less than 7 days to find the remaining 2 Granterstones before she turns to dust, Reversia's time travel ability seems to be the only option now. If they can save Zabyuun, then he can break the curse and save Mabusheena. Damn, I hope she'll be okay.

I thought that was a good episode. I know I tend to not like the episodes directed by Sakamoto, since I feel the action overtakes the story, but here it's a good balance with story and action. That said, if Mabu is getting the curse now and they only have two Stones and from the looks of it, might be resolved in the next ep, then why collect the other stones. It reminds of LuPat on it handled the plot subject. But they could easily say, collect them to stop the bad guys getting them.

We're finally getting more yodon generals and lore even if its d a pair of witch sisters sharing the same mask/helmet and simple suit/dress. They're really saving on sentai budget. Non of the mecha even combine as well. Just undividual suits vs the same Monster, but I guess that's why they spend more effort on the story to attact audiences retention. They're pulling an avenger endgame here if they didnt save the king or queen just take back a stone from the past and fix it to become new express without jokie. .

Arakawa comes back in force for this one with a script I ended up really liking. There's a part of me that sort of doesn't care all *that* much about this big ongoing arc with Mabusheena, and I thought that might drag the episode down for me a bit at first. That I would've preferred at least a couple more nice standalone episodes before Takamichi and his space rock hunt comes back into the focus.
I guess if I had to find a rational reason for that trepidation, it's that it's not a story arc I feel adds any real drama to the series inherently at this point. The big thing it allows the plots to do they can't otherwise is all stuff with Takamichi and Mabusheena together, and that isn't something I see as having any obvious way to evolve from were it was left at a little bit ago. It'd take some work to find a meaningful direction, and that's why it's not surprising nothing about their dynamic here felt particularly new. It's nice to see Mabusheena being supportive of Takamichi now, but the fundamentals of her wanting him to be more selfless while he wants to focus on nothing but her, it doesn't feel like that's anything new. I don't feel like this episode gave that much insight into their characters I didn't have before. Mind you, this is only part one of two, and even with that critique, none of that material was offensive or anything. The episode also more than makes up for this with a super fun monster plot. Really clever gimmicks for both the regular and giant size monsters, and a bit of a plot twist mystery shtick that added even just a little bit of intrigue. Nice! The meat and potatoes of the Kiramagers going after this strange time-travelling fisherman guy was just everything I want in a good Sentai episode. I love seeing the heroes taking note of clues, and coming up with plans, and generally having to deal with whatever weird abilities the villain of the week has, and this episode nailed that, as Kiramager generally does, while still making all that room for all the overarching stuff. The direction also adds a lot to this one, but then, I'm generally a fan of Sakamoto's style, so of course I'd think that. What can I say? I like the excited zoomed-in camera work and the dynamic stunts. It's especially apparent in the flashback sequence here, which was cool to see for how it adds to the mythology of the series, playing out very much like the prologue to some epic fantasy story. So all in all, it's a strong episode, even if this post probably comes off a bit less enthused than I usually am. ...and maybe more disjointed. Even so, I can't wait to see how things wrap up nex- oh, wait! There's that other thing about Sakamoto's direction that's always great to see. A real blast, you know? I could say what it is with words, but a visual aid would be much more helpful here.

so like with garza being the one to inform silver of the granterstones, and red getting a weird feeling off of them, that means they're like, definitely evil, right? it's not just me?
anyway good episode, but it feels like the first half of a 2 parter, which it is, and kind of is just an issue when you have to wait a week |
