Hi everyone,
I'm trying to purchase the complete Jetman DVD collection. So far, the only thing I've found is this: However, the website mentions that there are no subtitles. Do any of you know if there is a DVD version with English subtitles on the episodes? If any of you actually purchased this version, are you satisfied with it? Since it's pretty expensive, I'd like to be sure that it's ok before buying it. Many thanks for your help! |

The official Super Sentai DVD/BD releases don't include any English subtitles. If you want English subs, then Hong Kong bootlegs or fansubs are the only options available.

Yeah, those are Region 2 DVDs with no subs. So first, do you have a DVD player that can play Region 2 DVDs? Secondly, that only has 10 episodes on it, with five volumes in total. Third, if you want subs, you are going to have to just download the fansubs of the show. While my original plan was to buy the entire series on DVD to at least own a physical copy and to show my support, I realized that it would be a waste since I will never watch them, and $400ish is just too much money to spend on something of that caliber when I can show my support through Figuarts instead.
Oh, and the show has no official subtitled release. I don't even think there is a bootleg DVD release with subs, but if there was, why buy a bootleg and support pirates when you can download the fansubs for free? |

None of the Japanese Super Sentai or Kamen Rider DVDs have subbed since well, they aren't expected to be imported. There was a site selling a subbed DVD set of it, but the store is closed now. So your only choice is to watch it subbed online, or download the series subbed. Of course once you download it, you can always burn it to a couple of DVD-Rs.
As for the bootlegs, if you find one go for it. The ones I have work perfectly fine.

Me? Nope, especially for stuff like this. Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Metal Heroes, and other Asian films and televisions shows rarely ever get official import releases. The only ones that do are the big ones, or the really obscure ones. That's why Tartan Video and Tokyo Shock are so awesome, they brought over (in Tartan's case) all of the major Asian movies and (in Tokyo Shock's case) all of the more older, obscure, and extreme movies. But that still leaves a lot.
I personally don't mind bootlegging stuff like this because it'll probably never get a US release, whether it be a tokusatsu series or one of my many insane Japanese films. So for me, if it's from a foreign country and has no official release outside of Japan, bootleg all you want. If it wasn't for this practice I wouldn't have my purosesu DVD collection, any of my J-Spoliation films, or my Sentai DVDs.

Hong Kong and Malaysia bootlegs can be hit or miss. The subs for my HK 70's Devilman DVD are awful since they have a lot of typos and sometimes the subs don't show up on screen on time. My ZO bootleg from Malaysia is pretty good since the subs are good and they even sub the special features.
