Woot! Love Gokaioh!
|
I dont really see how the limbs (which are only used in two episodes) not being specifically pirate related shows the whole pirate theme to have been done badly. They're space pirates, their vehicles cover a variety of terrains, thats good enough for me. The gigantic pirate ship that turns into a robot with sabers, a captain's hat and opens up to reveal a huge cannon is pirate-y enough for me.
Eitherway, Gokaioh is actually one of my favourite Sentai mecha and the Gokaiger line is my favourite Sentai toyline full stop and the first I ever 100% completed. Gokaioh is super fun, big, sturdy and looks great and really thats all I ask for in a Sentai mecha. |

But a giant flying pirate ship covers literally everything else. Since it can fly through the air, and air is everywhere, it covers for both the ground vehicles and the other smaller flying vehicle. Quote:
The half-assed pirate theme is only part of the problem. The fact that the Megazord looks utterly primitive and awful is the main issue. |
The Megazord is no different from those that came before and after it with the exception of GobusterOh. What's so primitive about it?

But honestly past Boukenger, name one mecha that transforms in a complex manner (again, besides GobusterOh). Even ShinkenOh's fancy transformations are limited to their respective mecha. The main robo is still a torso and four limbs combination. EDIT: I just realised I needed another qualifier. "Main" mecha. As it the default combination, not including the auxiliaries and the sixth. |

But execution and design is what has everyone split. ShinkenBlue's dragon forms just a leg, but the process in doing so in already more interesting than the entirety of GokaiOh's combination, for example. |
