Kamen rider super-max.
|
Okay, this idea's a bit unusual for Kamen Rider, but I think it could be really cool.
Kamen Rider Stardust! Theme: Constellations, idols and gladiators U-Foe incoming! Have no fear, a Kamen Rider is on the way. Keep a safe distance and enjoy the show! Backstory: Ten years ago, mysterious monsters called U-Foes began appearing on Earth and attacking anyone in their path, and the Kamen Riders, heroes in high-tech suits powered by CosmiGems, rose up to defend humanity. Nowadays, U-Foe attacks have become even more common, but the Kamen Riders have gotten so effective at beating the monsters without any casualties that the public has stopped seeing it as a threat and started seeing it as entertainment. The media corporation STARZ mass-produces CosmiGems and STARZ Drivers, and markets Kamen Riders as celebrities. But behind the flash and fame, a dark secret lurks, and the people's sense of security may soon be shattered... Transformation items: CosmiGems, star-shaped crystals containing the power of constellations. They're sorted by elemental type (Fire, Earth, Air, Water, or Void which is rare and unknown to most people) and rank (1 to 5 stars, or Zodiac which is even stronger). Main rider: Kamen Rider Stardust! A teenage girl who recently graduated high school and wants nothing more than to become a Kamen Rider, so she enrolls in STARZ's prestigious training program. However, she has no affinity for Fire, Earth, Air or Water CosmiGems, leaving her weak and powerless when transformed. The other Riders-in-training bully her and nickname her "Dust." However, her fate changes when a mysterious stranger gives her a prototype Driver and the Ophiuchus Gem. Discovering she has an extremely high Void affinity, she vows to become the greatest Kamen Rider ever, taking the name Stardust to turn her hurtful nickname into a source of strength. Type: Void. Rank: Zodiac. *energetic techno music* Tail of shooting star! Shine Ophiuchus! It's showtime. Second rider: Kamen Rider Hunter! Another trainee in STARZ's program, a brash and hot-tempered young man who hates U-Foes with a burning passion because of something in his past, and is determined to become as powerful as possible to destroy as many as he can. He also hates Kamen Riders, but chose to become one so that he could fight U-Foes. Like Stardust, he aims to become the greatest Kamen Rider ever, but his goal is to prove to the world that all the other Riders are fake heroes who've been corrupted by fame and forgotten that their job is to protect people. The Orion Gem was left to him by someone, as a reminder of his past, but he refuses to tell anyone what happened. Five star Fire! *aggressive drum music* Hunter bears the torch! Shine Orion! Third rider: Kamen Rider Perfect! Another STARZ trainee, a vain and arrogant girl from a rich family who's used to always coming first in everything, and has a naturally high affinity for Earth-type Gems, enough to use Virgo almost right away even though normally only veteran Riders can handle Zodiacs. Because of this and her upbringing, she believes it's her destiny to become the greatest Kamen Rider (sensing a pattern here?) and looks down on those she views as not having as much potential as she does. Normally she claims to only care about proving how much better she is than others, but at times she shows a kind side and hints of loneliness. Zodiac Earth! *grand classical music* Radiant beauty! Shine Virgo! Fourth rider: Kamen Rider Venom! The teacher of Stardust, Hunter, Perfect and the rest of their training group, an older man with a cynical disposition who often comes across as intimidating whether he means to or not, but he has a kind heart and genuinely cares about his students. In his youth he used Scorpio and was marketed by STARZ as an edgy tough-guy Rider, but he grew tired of being famous and having to perform that role all the time, so he retired from fighting to teach the next generation. Now to save his stamina he normally uses Musca, a relatively weak form, but his experience makes him more than a match for his students and U-Foes should the need arise, for now at least... One star Water! *frantic high-pitched music* Swarming little lights! Shine Musca! Zodiac Water! *ominous rock music* Scorching desert sand! Shine Scorpio! I might come up with more Riders and other stuff later, but there's the initial idea. |
So... very much a work in progress, but here's the general idea.
Several years ago, a mountain burst open, unleashing three beings. Sycophantam, Tenebris and Leoht began wreaking havoc on the nearby cities, creating minions from everyday examples of elements such as fire, darkness, lightning, and more. One of these minions was brought down, and its essence became the first Flare. Researching the Flare, the Rider Belt was made and production began on making weapons to combat the three beings. Volunteers were given armors and took to battle. However, it was found out that prolonged use of Flares wore the human body out extremely quickly, with a large number of Riders dying in the fallout. Out of options, Androids began being produced as well, to wear the belts and fight for humanity's sake. The human Riders that survived helped to train the Androids, since many of them were too wounded to handle normal jobs. The story follows Dee, one of said androids, as she learns about the world and people around her, what it means to be a person, and herself. Main Rider: Kamen Rider Diamond Name: D-33 "Dee" Gender: Identifies as female, technically agender Motif: Gems/Jewelry Belt: Refiner Driver, a mainly silver belt with a blue light in the center and dark blue plating on each side. Henshin Device: ID Crystals, which unlock the belt and synchronize with the user's identity to retain user-specific armor. ID Crystals also develop with the user, and more change and grow in power over time. Armors themselves are decided by small objects called Flares, which are made from the essence of defeated monsters and range in theme. Weapons: Ring Saber, a sword made with a spare of Dee's main Flare, Diamond. It serves as a channeling weapon, allowing her to use much more powerful attacks than she would normally be capable of. Forms Geode Breaker: Dee's initial form, made from a prototype ID Crystal and a work in progress Flare. This form's only benefit is its extremely high defense, which rivals the mid-story upgrade for the amount of damage it can take, but at the cost of limited movement and draining power quickly. Diamond: Her base form made using the Diamond Flare. This form offers lower defense than any other form, but much higher speed and strength than Geode Breaker. Its because of her ability to use this from well that she got her Rider name. Quartz: Quartz Form is made when the Diamond Flare is swapped out for a Flare obtained from one of the higher up monsters. In Quartz, Dee's defense goes up, but without lowering her speed and damage as extensively as Geode Breaker, making it an alternative to Diamond Form. Queen of Diamonds: Dee's mid-story upgrade that replaces her base form. After choosing to save a monster who only wishes to live in peace, her ID Crystal changed form, unlocking Queen of Diamonds. This form acts as a combination of her three previous forms, with absurdly high defense, speed and damage. Engagement Form: Dee's final form, made when she and a former Rider both admitted their feelings for one another. This form uses no Flare, rather employing the former Rider's ID Crystal. In this form, she's capable of utilizing any Flares and even doubling the power she would normally get from them thanks to the dual crystals she uses, allowing for a number of new abilities and combinations. Just the main Rider for now, but maybe I'll talk about the other two sometime. |

At one point, it was going to be somewhat similar to Zero One's Hybrid-Rise forms, with thicker armor plating going over her base armor, but I went with this instead since it made more since with the theme. |
I haven't fully fleshed this idea out, but there was some discussion here a while back about Kamen Rider giving people hope, and elsewhere about the potential for a toku isekai, so that got me thinking about a Kamen Rider helping people survive and rebuild in a post-apocalyptic future. I call it Kamen Rider Ruin, and the tagline is "the future lies in Ruin."
Our hero is a delivery man from the modern day who brings a package to a science lab, but gets caught in an attack by some unknown enemy and ends up getting cryogenically frozen with the package. He thaws out 100 years into the future, where people live in domed cities to protect themselves from Maelstroms, bizarre natural disasters that mutate anything caught in them into monsters called Mal. Kamen Riders travel between the domes to deliver mail and packages, gather resources only found outside, and protect other travelers from the Mal. As fate would have it, the package our hero was carrying contains a powerful prototype Driver, and he becomes a Kamen Rider to help people and try to uncover the mystery of what happened 100 years ago, clashing with Mal and human villains who want to conquer the surviving cities. The collectible items are Storm Filters, lenses themed after different natural disasters that attach over a light on the Driver and equip different protective gear onto the Riders' base suits (this Rider system was originally designed as advanced safety gear that could adapt to different dangers). Creating one requires disaster data either copied from another Storm Lens or gathered directly from a Maelstrom. Ruin starts with the Cyclone Storm Lens for his main form, later gains Lightning and Blizzard lenses, the powerful Typhoon lens passed on from a veteran Rider who becomes his mentor, and finally the Perfect Storm Lens from going all the way into the eye of a Maelstrom. The Mal are creatures that survived unprotected exposure to a Maelstrom and came out of it mutated with monstrous new forms, strange abilities, and an urge to destroy. Most are mutated from animals and are just mindless beasts, but those mutated from humans are unique and keep their sentience. Some of these human-Mal are evil, but there are also those who don't want to hurt anyone and find ways to control their destructive urges. I don't know who the second and third Riders are (maybe Ruin's mentor should be one of them?), I figure since in this post-apocalyptic world being a Kamen Rider is just a job there would be a large number of them, and they might just use their real names as their Rider names, like Horobi and Jin. And there's probably multiple Riders with duplicates of the same Storm Lens, or else ones that are very similar (Cyclone and Tornado, for example). Maybe the second Rider should use Volcano for their main form, that seems like a good contrast to Ruin's wind- and sky-based forms. |
And yes, the designs of Kamen Rider Ruin and the other post-apocalyptic riders would take inspiration from gas masks and environment suits, I'm thinking something vaguely like this but less creepy (at least for the heroes, there could be villainous Riders who fully embrace the creepy gas mask look):
