Glad to hear some good news out of this. Hopefully they pin down exactly how the event in question transpired.

The bummer is that this is gonna follow him wherever he goes now, and i'm more than certain that someone will bring this up the next con he gets invited too. |
Wow, just catching up after a busy morning, and I've read the before and current news. Thats....really just wow.
I feel bad for the roommate, that had to have been some argument. I'm sure there's way more to the story than what has been published by the media, particularly since Medina's girlfriend was there when it occurred, so I'm sure the D.A. had to clear her statement before they could release him. The arrest would be pretty standard procedure until statements were taken. The questions about franchise may actually need to be addressed, since the media is playing it as "Power Ranger actor does something bad", which does reflect on Saban Brands. Unfortunately for the media, they're about as smart as a bag of bricks, so there's never any distinction in the 'bleeds it leads' news. At the very least, he can still be pulled into civil court by the family of Sutter for his death, if the D.A.'s office isn't going to file criminal charges or indict for homicide. So far from over. |
If this News reach new zealand it's possible the show could be banned there ?

You know the justice there banned the show to be violent so you never knows.

I don't want to say the lack of a conviction is good news, what with a guy still being dead and all, but I'm relieved for Ricardo Medina that this seems to be a self-defense case and not a homicide. I guess. It's kind of hard to find a way to phrase this positively.
|
In Kentucky, there is no real self-defense case/law. You killed someone, that's it. So if he had done it here, he's be going away for a few years. So lets just be glad that it didn't happen in Kentucky.

Here's what Bruno of MMPRToys has to say about the verdict to not press charges against Ricardo:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WC2VIttlVUc Also, he shows off the Legacy Saba too, so take that as a bit of levity to try and help lift us all up. |
I am in love with the Saba!! But I'm more of a Dragon Dagger fan.

Most of them are insensitive pricks who posted immature jokes and got shocked when people like me brought up that it was too soon. They got scolded for being indecent human beings and just passed people who criticized them as "sensitive Power Rangers fans" or something like that. Hell, the only responses I got from most people was to lighten up or just an irrelevant and idiotic observation like "Wild Force fan spotted".
Ah well, at least I can turn to you guys if I want some decent human beings. |

Regardless, just like TFW, TokuNation also has it's own policies, but if anything I've found everyone, even at their worst, is a better sport on TN on pretty much every topic. Back on topic, I was thinking that at the worst, the issue could affect Samurai's syndication purposes for Disney. They're not big on drama. |
I'm a Transfan too. But I have problems doing he registration on my tablet so I can't join the forums.

But I agree, it seems like even the worst of Tokunation has been a bunch of good sports about this matter. |

If they still have the same training (I wouldn't know, I'm retired there now) that we had back in the day, they should be all over the indecent comments/jokes/remarks. But yes - I don't tolerate people acting like indecent human beings. If Rick Medina just stabbed someone and that was it - no big deal. But since the victim died (and is a father), we are not tolerating any indecent or any comments of a joking manner. This is some serious stuff that will forever change Rick's life, and on top of that, someone lost a son, a brother, a friend, and most importantly, a father. There's nothing funny about any of that. |
Things like this make me wish you were still a TFW admin, Kickback. The mods over at TFW don't seem as tough or observant as they should be.
I apologize for bringing this up so much, but it just upsets me to see so many people disregard human decency by making jokes that aren't even slightly funny. |
It's just a part of how comedy works (Tragedy + time).
So some people go for black comedy, where they remove the time aspect. It's low hanging fruit and some people are just cruel. |
Let's get back on topic. I apologize for bringing up the thread that was on TFW2005.
Even though there are no charges being filed, this still leaves an impact on Power Rangers as a whole. |
I don't feel it does. While the Power Ranger aspect is going to be milked, I really doubt it'll be a black mark on the franchise as a whole.
|
PR has been associated with something like this before, except it was much worse. The show will be fine; what is important right now is the whole truth coming out and all the families finding closure.

You, and others, are making this about Power Rangers when this is about the actor and has nothing to do with any shows he's been in. |

So it looks like this story isn't over after all: http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/rica...er-1201680254/

Looks like that's the final chapter to it, though. Yikes

Either way it still makes Wild Force and Samurai uncomfortable to watch in hindsight, moreso with Samurai since Deker was a psycho with a sword itching to use it. |

He was already arrested and the released. You can't arrest him again for the same crime.
I don't see how it makes anything uncomfortable to watch though. I watch movies all of the time that have actors in them that have gone to jail for stuff. Or have watched movies with actors that are dead. I don't care who or what they are in the real world, as long as they give great performances in what they filmed. Their personal off-screen lives are irrelevant. |

P.S.: The timing of Medina's re-arrest feels...a tad suspicious. We get the news of a Wild Force DVD release and suddenly the whole "Wild Force/Samurai Murderer" story rears itself again. Kinda wondering what Saban and Shout are thinking now. And this comes just prior to Dino Supercharge, and the original story broke before the start of Dino Charge (if memory serves). The timing is so off and just a little too coincidental. |

As for the timing, yeah I do find it a bit odd. |
