Ah, but MCS didn't sub the Grongi.
I thought they were good subs, but long before I was even halfway through the show I wanted to know what the Grongi were saying. That's why I want TVN to finish theirs, I'll definitely rewatch the show with the new subtitles. But if you can live without the Grongi translated, then the MCS version is good. |
dont forget KRDL(dot)info. they have pretty much everything with direct download.
i sort of prefer watching Kuuga without the Grongi subbed, its cool that its a made-up language that isnt just gibberish, but they make more sense in the context of the show if they don't speak Japanese/English. Im still watching Black, Amazon and Hibiki. Hibiki is really freaking awesome, i dont care if it wasnt intended to be a Rider show, so far it stands out on its own. im bracing myself for the latter half of the series though, from what i heard it gets sketchy... |

You really shouldn't watch it with the Grongi translated, though. At least not the first time. It spoils a lot of the plot well in advance and not understanding the Grongi is more authentic to how it originally aired in Japan. |
another question. in what episode did mochida seems jealous about akira and asumu in KR Hibiki...thank you in advance

My wife and I finished Den-O a couple of days ago.
I loved it. It was very moving and epic and funny and I really liked how it ended. Kinda sad that we're done, but I'm looking forward to the movies now. Overall I would say I'm a big fan of Den-O. Occasionally it was confusing, and lacked explanations, or clear rules (or they made up the rules as they went or changed them after the fact, one of those), but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the show. The characters were great. I didn't hate anybody, and in fact liked everybody. I kinda feel bad that Airi's two admirers got pushed out of the show, but it made sense story-wise as things progressed. I really liked Momotaros, Ryutaros and Deneb, and Yuuto, and Owner, and Hana and Naomi, and so on, pretty much everybody. I really like Den-Os forms, and will try to acquire them all in SIC and SHF form (with Sword Form/Momotaros now on the way, I have all 4 main forms, and 2 of the Imagins, along with Deneb/Zeronos. I'm sure I'll be picking up Climax Form/Urataros or Liner Form/Zero Form from Mandarake soon). NEEEED the Imagins in SHF form, who do I kill to get them? really looking forward to upcoming Den-O SHF releases. I think Liner Form ended up being my favorite looking, though Climax Form is the best in the show, particularly after they defeat an Imagin and each of the Taros' tries to take over to celebrate, plus it's initial transformation was moving and hilarious. But Liner Form's helmet is awesome, really great design, imo. Going to focus on finishing Ryuki, while catching up on Fourze. Recently saw the introductions of Raia, who is a great character, but kind of a weaker design, and Gai, who is a fantastic design, but a jerkface, but not in as likable a way as Zolda. |

I've watched the first 10 episodes of Kuuga so far. It's a good show with some great characters and ideas but the pacing and look of it being an older show makes it a bit hard for me to sit through (seriously, they use a doodle board as a prop!). Still, now that we've gotten the 3 main Chou Henshins out of the way I'm hopign the show picks up the pace a bit.

She keeps saying she won't watch anymore, because she gets almost as sucked into it as I do, so instead of doing 'useful' stuff in the evening, we just sit and watch tv. but so far we've seen W, OOO, Kuuga and Den-O. I really liked the first three episodes of Shinkenger, so I'm kinda trying to get her to watch taht one with me. Oh, and i got her to watch ep 1 of Akibaranger, and she thought it was as funny as I did.
She's pretty great. |
My wife occasionally watched an episode or 2 of Gokaiger with me. But only because she was there at the time not really because she wanted to. She's fine with the fact that Im into Toku but trying to convince her that these shows have compelling plots that last for upwards of 50 episodes is near impossible. I occasionally get a pass to watch one or 2 episodes of whatever im working on at the time but she's hardly interested. I wish she could get into it like I do but her being supportive of my interests is plenty enough for me :)
|
I got my wife to watch all the Marvel superhero movies, like Iron Man and Thor, but no luck at convincing her to watch Super Sentai or Kamen Rider.
|
My wife will watch a lot of superhero stuff, but the Japanese stuff is one of her shut-down corners.

Wife and I just finished Den-O Climax Deka. We were both pretty excited to see Kiva again, but what the hell?! Kiva was barely in it! Very disappointed. :( Kivat was in it more than Kiva and Wataru combined.
But, it was a good film. Negataros is pretty awesome, and it was a good story. Just, very disappointed at the lack of Kiva, or that the supposed Fangires didn't transform at the end of the film. |

We're planning to watch the rest of them.

Quick question. I want to watch Kamen Rider Decade and was wondering if I would have to start all the way back to Kamen Rider Kuuga since Decade is the tenth of the Heisei Rider Series to understand any of it.

I've just started watching OOO. I'm 5 episodes in now. Already hooked. This will be my first KR series.
|
Gonna start on my first Kamen Rider series, though havin' a hard time choosing which one, so i'm gonna watch the first 1 or 2 episodes of Decade, W, OOO's & Fourze to see which one grabs me the most. Though i hear W's first 2 episodes aren't all that great?

Eh, they're alright episodes. They're not the weakest of the show, but still close to the bottom. If you can stick it out for 8 episodes I think that gets you through all the weak-ish ones, and the worst two. And really, the first two are not bad introductions to the characters either.
I honestly don't remember the first two episodes of OOOs, but they were enough to hook me. Fourze's start I thought was pretty strong. If those are the ones you're thinking of starting with, I'd say start with W, move to OOO and then Fourze, since that's how they came out. Haven't seen decade so I can't speak to that series. |

Just finshed up the W vs decade movie. I love W so much more now, but decade is growing on me.

The wife and I watched Den-O The Final Countdown tonight. I liked it. Skull and Hijack forms were good, need a figure of them.
I'd say I'm sad to see the characters go, since supposedly this was Farewell to Den-O and the Gang, but they clearly come back, so I look forward to their next adventure. |
Well at the time it was an actual farewell, it was all that was planned. The reason Takeru Satou doesn't play Ryutaro in the Decade crossover movie is because they never originally planned to do more Den-O (and he's never returned since because of his involvement playing Kenshin Himura). But the popularity was clear for that franchise so they had to do more. They shoe-horn in that whole "the timeline has been changed" nonsense so that they can use the kid who played young Ryutaro from Ore Tanjou. Still a good movie but Final Countdown was easily the peak of the Den-O franchise. The final fight that includes all the Taros in their Den-O forms with Zeronos taking on all the baddies was just ridiculously epic.

So...I just finished OOO. And I started a week ago. That was such a great show. I'm not sure what people mean by the middle not being so great. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
|
I'm still watching an episode or two of Ryuki every couple of weeks, and for the fun of it I started Kabuto the other day. Seen 3 episodes so far, and it's engaging, so far.

Finished Ryuki the other week but only just got round to watching the movie last week and the tv special today.
So here's my list so far: W Kiva Den-O OOO Kabuto Decade And now having watched Ryuki? Ryuki W Kiva Den-O OOO Kabuto Decade Yep, what an awesome series. The ending is a bit of a cop out but I guess it was the best possible way without ruining any characters. Everyone in a way gets what they wanted, it's beautifully executed and is emotional. I like how dark the show is and despite most of them being jerks you really get to like them and feel quite empathetic for them. I hated Gai though, what a douche. I also dig how it's pretty much Ren's story, first rider we see (blank form hardly counts =p) he gets his power up first and he wins... Sort of if Shiro hadn't erased the timeline... I think if you can get past the first 5/6 episodes, the SFX/CGI/eclectic film style smooths out and it becomes a really good ride with some amazing suits and action. Also, Kitaoka is the greatest character/rider ever =] |
Yeah, Gai was a douche, but one of the best suit designs, imo. I watched episodes 20/21 last night, and they were really good.
I'm surprised by your ranking, but so far I'm enjoying Ryuki a lot, and though I'm only 4 episodes into Kabuto, I'm also quite enjoying that one. I think I'm not really going to be able to rank the series anymore, unless others are real stinkers, the ones I've seen are just all around great. |
