So I saw the Future episodes, and it's foreboding that Steven has this much anger in him. But since he knows a lot of dark secrets it was a matter of time
Indeed. I like how they're doing it though. He'll eventually have to come to terms with all this and either figue out a way to cope with it or it'll break him mentally and he'll become a villain.
Knowing how badly he takes things he could become a real threat. He sure doesn't like change and that's all that's happening: change. And being in that flux is rough on anyone, even a kid like Steven
Things keep changing, finding out more about how much of a bitch your mom is, your girlfriend being away more, and puberty. So who wants to place bets if Steven will accidentally shatter someone out of his rage.
Now let us pay our respects to the one who sacrificed the most in these episodes, that being Greg. No joke I actually yelled out "Noooooooooooooo!" when he did it. |
Greg's gorgeous, sensuous hair. Gone. BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN!!
It's rather ironic that Steven learning to accept change was his character arc in the film, though a person can't be changed in an hour.
I think the most hilarious thing, though, is that a lot of Rose's past as Pink could be just straight told to him by the Diamonds, but his utmost refusal to stay on homeworld for any prolonged period of time means he just has to find out how Pink/Rose fucked someone over by them coming back. |
Scary to think next Friday will be the LAST Steven Universe episodes
I know right?!
One week until the finale.
Not even gonna lie, I have a feeling it'll be underwhelming :lol |

So, now that the finale's aired anyone want to share their thoughts?
I liked it. A lot.
it was good
It was a good end. A tad rushed, but it offered closure and that's important
Annnnnnd they intentionally kept Volleyball's eye obscured.
Literally, the one character who's resolution I wanted to know, and we didn't get it. I think there was a close up shot where you could still see a crack, though. Makes sense, since you can't exactly fix that kind of damage in a day. As for the ending itself, it was alright. Emotional, but too rushed. Going from teenage angst and running away from his problems to thinking he was a monster was rather...Weird. That said, the Gems singing Cookie Cat was so goddamn adorable that I can't help but smile, and the goodbyes was emotional. A mix of disappointing, outlandish, and emotional. Sounds about right for Steven Universe. |
The fact that there was still no Lapis/Peridot fusion is extremely annoying. I was really hoping they'd pull a last minute one and give fans what they've been asking for for years.
So, question for those of you who got to the end.
I was a big fan of Steven Universe... emphasis on was. Loved the series, loved the last arc of the show. I really enjoyed the movie, despite feeling like it was grasping for something to be about. When Future debuted, it just left me really cold. I thought the fight with Jasper was just... I don't want to go Not My Steven Universe, but it felt like my time with the show was over. Whatever was going to come next would taint my memories. It was okay for me to quit if I wasn't into it anymore, you know? Did y'all end up feeling like Future was worth it? Was it saying something valuable about the characters that enriched the earlier series? I'm probably not ever going to watch Future, I feel like I closed that door, so feel free to spoil stuff if you want to. I'm just curious if Future felt like a story worth telling. |
Volleyball is an episode of SU Future worth watching, at the very least.

Honestly, if someone just really didn't want to watch Future, I'd only really recommend Volleyball. |

Like, was Future worth it for you? Did it make Steven Universe (as a franchise) better? Worse? As its own thing, was it satisfying? I'm just trying to get a sense for how fans feel about it as a show. |
Future was a daring show, going deeper into PTSD and how it effects people. It does change how the show is viewed, but it ultimately doesn't change too much
I enjoyed Future but do agree it was a bit rushed. Was getting annoyed that Steven and Connie just called each other friends. I know if Pearl was real she would be loved by EVERYONE for she greets people with toilet paper.
Oh noticed something, Steven said he will visit all 39 States, |

It's more about coming to terms with change and growth. Quote:
