Well it's been fun guys, I'm really gonna miss this show.
|
My heart isn't ready :(
|
Same, this has been a really good show, great story, great characters and a great villain.
Zi-O is going to feel a bit weak coming off the back of this unless they by some miracle prove me wrong. |
That ending is so bittersweet. I wish they'd kept Misora's memory by using Vernage's power

this isn't like Ryuki at all, Build is merged and bittersweet ending...
And I like the point that Kyryu Sento insn't a real person, just the one created by Evolt and same to Ryuga, and with the merge, they are still there. |
So, everyone revived and (likely) forgot the series' events (hooray for retconning death). Except for Sento and Banjo, who remember it all. And apparently Sento (and possibly everyone) wrote the episode narrations by chronicling the series' events in the new world.
Huh. And the final battle took up half the episode, with the remaining half being a epilogue. Interesting. Reminds me of Gurren Lagann in that regard. This last episode was a legit treat. Though, I have to say, Build stumbled a lot towards the finish line (around 33 was where it started getting stale to me). And while these last few episodes have been great, I do feel like it was... too late to be enjoyable. To me, Build is still average. But it's not THAT bad. The first half is fantastic. But the latter half is... kinda weird due to the whole Evolto and Paparagi-Lost Bottle stuff. Evolto was a pretty boring villain, let's be real here. Not to mention the last-minute reveals, such as Utsumi being shown as a cyborg before he died, or the Hell Bros turning good before being killed. It felt like a bit of a slog. But kudos to those who managed to love the show. I'm happy for you. :D Sadly, and much to the hatred/annoyance of people on toku forums everywhere, I didn't really watch most of this show. :o About 25 episodes (1-6, 10-15, 17, 19-21, 24, 28, 31, 36-39, and 49) and then most of the 40-48 episode endings (or, rather, anything after the ten-minute mark 'cause I was late to streams). Hence I might not have a "valid" opinion on the show as a whole. But, for the most part, I didn't really enjoy it from the start. :thumbdown Anyhoo, not really gonna leave much of a review. Mainly 'cause I don't remember much... aside from my nine rants about Evolto, bad pacing, bad exposition, wonkier-than-usual power scaling, and Deus Ex Machinas, and I'm not really one to enjoy being negative despite my dislike of this show. I just get pretty passionate/defensive about my opinions. Sorry. TL;DR To those of you who enjoyed Build thoroughly, I'll say it again: I'm happy for you. |
|
Great ending, I was kinda hoping for a Zi-O cameo, but I guess that will have to wait for the movie instead.
|
Build ending was similar to Ryuki which was not shocking. It was nice seeing Sento and Banjo being the only 2 to remember it all at the end.
Looking forward to seeing build in the Dec winter movie. |
So with the new world, will Sento & Banjo gather up Team Build again? Bring out a new Grease & Rogue to the team? Even the alternate Misora & Sawa?
|
Build just pulled a Crisis on Infinite Earths
|
Instead of grease or rogue special, we're getting a banjo one despite he's really the 2 in1 main rider like W. I feel disappointed they pull a ryuki despite we already saw it coming. I felt like this wasn't the writer original intention, but he probably recon a lot for the movie and zio. Everyone is back, but it's not really them. Is original misora and Sawa still alive like banjo? There's two banjo, so there must be another katsuragi as well. It's just more and more questions that hopefully the special will answer. It's like decade ending again. It's a cliffhanger to more especially with unnecessary zio tie in that kind of ruin the ending for me. It's like they don't know what to do and can't pick a side like with how katsuragi and sento are coexisting, the original and new version of the characters are still alive. At least sento isn't alone. The bromance lives.

btw I'm surprised Shouichi act just like Evolt. I wonder how good the toys are selling since Banjo is getting another repaint. It's no difference from other series prior, but rogue is getting one for the hbv as well. |
I don't know/get it why many people think this is "Ryuki's ending" :thonking:
I would say new Misora has the new memories from old Misora, but it takes time. And Grease and Rouge, Utsumi, people died in old world are still dead. Cause "0 + 1 = 1" :v |

I'm pretty sure there's a new version of katsuragi and his parents in this new world as well.

I have to say, I really liked the ending. The final battle left a lot to be desired but the scene in the New World was really melancholic and made me feel a lot for Sento, who had sacrificed everything to protect the people who won't even remember him. I actually teared up a bit when he met with the alternate version of Banjo, who didn't recognize him. I felt a very Ryuki vibe from this, especially during the part with Misora and Soichi. However, turns out Skywall Banjo also made it to the New World and they reunite and engage in some classic bromantic shenanigans. The last scene is brilliant and hilarious, revealing that the recaps at the start of every episode are in fact scripts Sento wrote up in-universe to help remember their adventures by. So unlike Ryuki, while the other members of the cast have been merged or replaced with their alternate counterparts, Sento and Banjo still have each other. Build was at its best when it was about the two, and having the last episode be dedicated to that relationship is a huge win in my books.

Sawa is still sawa. We got the shy and awkward gentoku back. So is utsumi working in Nanba's factory? lol I kind of wish the main characters remembers their past in this new world. It would be neat if banjo got his career and gf back instead he just see an alternate version of himself that have what he wanted before he became an convict kr. Also, 4 reprint power up item in a row. Technically, Genius was kind of a sparkling rehash already. I heard a lot of toy complain, but buys it because they enjoy the show. It must be selling well especially when Lupin Isn't. |
The ending sounds fantastic. And everything it should have been. Can't wait to binge the last quarter stretch. Really proud of how this show turned out. Toei keeps amazing every year with their cast, crew, and wit.
I find the ending really poetic to how it started. Show began with Sento not having his memories, alongside Banjo trying to solve his incarceration issue and in the end, Sento and Banjo are the two left with carrying on the memories. Free and know what happened, but still there to protect this new world. Still kind of sad though when you think about. The people they knew are still gone, still died. Even though they see the alternate selves living happily, it's still not "their world's" versions. Those still died. I wonder if they'll actually approach that grief angle later more in either Zi-O or a follow up special. I'm half expecting some last minute aspect of they need to go back save their world's Misora with a back to the future II type of final stinger. Which would fit to Zi-O or something else later. This really sounds kind of depressing when you think about it. The rider lost his world in the final battle, and is in a new world because of all they couldn't save, but did stop that evil from going to other worlds too. But for general audiences, it's a visual thing. Seeing the characters living happily prevents from really thinking about it. It's a form of epilogue that brings peace, but at the same time still remembers the loss. It's not a resurrection but visually it feels like it, even though those characters are still dead. Quote:
And the gas itself, if they do another follow up special, is likely what's keeping the 'other world' memories from returning. Though in some instances it's better to leave those memories in the past. But Misora I think may end up making the transition to exist alongside her alternate self at some point in the future. Her and her dad are the two they really can't mess with the new world versions and give them the other self memories. Though in her dad's case, that would make for an interesting story of him trying to understand what happened to his alternate self since the memories would be without the possession. It'd essentially be like Sento in many ways. Trying to understand his previous self and why they did what they did. But I think it's a better note to leave their alternate selves blissfully unaware. But team Build does feel wrong without Misora too. Quote:
That's the painful part of multiverse theory. Sure there's a multiverse version of people doing every thing they wished they could do or having reached every dream, etc. But that still means it's not 'them'. That's the other world 'them.' Not their world they are currently living in. Not the one you knew. Not the one you experienced. It's like the star trek thing about transporters. Star Trek transporters murder people. It doesn't 'teleport' anything. It disintegrates and then rebuilds it from the data into a new version that has the memories to the point of when the previous was disintegrated. So it looks seamless like teleportation, but it's really not. That person died the second they were transported and a new version with the old memories carried on in their stead. To the outward observer. You'd notice no difference. The new version person would know no difference. But the real version, the version that was first transported, that one is dead and data built copies have been carrying on in their stead. But that's a headier form of the same multiverse version thing. Or if you want a simpler explanation: Think of it like a house pet. One dies, but you replace it with one that looks exactly the same, and give it the same name. But that new one has none of the experiences of the old. Never lived that life. But to the outward observer, it looks exactly the same. Like replacing a hamster, or guinea pig, or goldfish before a little kid notices their pet died. It's kind of, sort of, like that to the outward observer that doesn't know the difference. That's what this visual trick does to general audiences. The show essentially 'replaced the dead characters' with happier goldfish that look the same and lived on. So general audiences see it as a resurrection, but really, to those that know the differences. The ones who can see it's not. They know those goldfish were replaced. So Sento and Banjo essentially replaced the goldfish of their world. And have to live knowing they couldn't save the previous. That these may look like them, seem like them, even occasionally act like them, but they aren't the ones they knew and grew with. The people of their world, their world itself, went belly up in the fish bowl. |
The ending kind of redeemed the show for me. I just wish Misora would have gotten her memories back before Souichi so rudely interrupted her.
And when you think about it, out is horrifying to think that it took an entire planetary retcon to defeat Evolt. Nearly seven billion lives were replaced to destroy him. Well, this had been fun, guys. Let's see if Zi-O will hold up. |
Team Build won’t be the same without Misora, Grease and Rogue. Build and Cross-Z have gotta reforge their former family when facing certain odds.

I guess its a bittersweet ending and Sento reuniting with his best partner, Ryuga.
At least they have each other (that sounded so gaaaaay...xD ) time for Zi-O. I can't wait for the Faiz arc for that. |
Damn Kiwami, I guess you were right after all.
Everybody but Sento and Banjo are technically "revived" but they clearly aren't the same people that they fought alongside (and against). I also thought that them basically saying "BTW, the show you just watched was written by Sento himself" was a nice touch. |
I'm fucking tearing up. This finale had a LOT of pressure, the stakes were high and the writing was brilliant. This is it. I found a new favourite Kamen Rider season. Sorry W. I'd watch a show which just deals with Sento and Ryuga spending their days in this new world again. There's no more conflict left for our heroes to solve, but they also sacrificed everything. I'm incredibly glad my instincts told me to support the toyline, and considering it's sold as well as OOO and Fourze, I'm probably not the only one
|
Remind me to Ryuki Final episode and I really like that :D
I really happy when Evolt is destroyed by Build....:D |
Now Sento & Banjo need is a new enemy to fight and get a new Team Build from their former comrades back together.
|
Hands down my favorite season. The character were the best part and had really good dynamic. I loved the whole sci fi theme so it made the plot really interesting for me. I loved the tease with the Cross-Z Ridewatch and can’t wait to see Sento and Ryuga in Zi-O.

I promised myself I wouldn't cry. And, for the most part, I managed it. Then he met parallel Banjou. And then regular Banjou showed up. I am an adult, I promise.
But yeah, this episode was pretty much everything I wanted. The final fight with Evolt was perhaps a little underwhelming, but Sentou going through all of his forms was nice to see, and Evolt getting destroyed was always going to be a moment of utter satisfaction. As sad as it was that they'd all forgotten Sento, seeing everyone have a happy ending (even Taro Satou, of all memes!) was worth all the misery, all the drama this series has brought. They all died so the world could live. An excellent finale, and I'm already excited to see the duo back in Zi-O. This is a showwhere I'll always treasure the good. |
That ending was bloody beautiful. Sento and Banjou ended up becoming my two favourite Kamen Rider characters - aside from Eiji and Ankh - and to see them together like that... man. It just hit every emotional high. They're boyfriends and no-one can convince me otherwise.
It does make me wonder how they'll survive in this new world. They've got no ID or citizenship or anything and will have to start from scratch. I really can't wait for Zi-O to show us what's happened since. And I won't even have to wait until next year for the crossover movie since they're in Episode 2! Not sure if this overtakes OOO as my overall favourite season, but it's pretty damn close. Well done to everyone who made this happen. |
" crying "
" still crying " " overflow crying ! " " puts Build as his nr, 1 season moving Ex-Aid down one and OOO down one " |
Ok hu...so...
They merged with the new world, they killed Evolt...And they are left alone in this new world...I would have hoped at least Misora would have remembered...After all, she is one of the reason Kiryu Sento is Kiryu Sento... I will greatly miss Build, I grew really attached to some of the characters. This season was just...wow... |
Probably just me, but that ending was incredibly similar to that of the Nintendo Wii game Xenoblade Chronicles.
Both main characters end up recreating the world to achieve piece and the epilogue showed how everyone is doing in this new world, except in Xenoblade everyone remembered what had happened before whereas in here only Sento and Banjo remember what happened before. In a coincidence both end with the camera panning out on two main characters sitting down beside each other except from opposite angles, one with it panning from behind, the other from forward. https://imgur.com/4rinI7o https://imgur.com/PMXr1nL |
