This episode's page on Toei's site states nothing about thanking his actor, or that he's leaving - so he'll be back (both of him, this is - Souichi's actor AND Evolto's voice actor). |
"End of Evolt!"
*next episode shows his true form* |
Isn't Souichi in the movie anyway?

Was that Kazumin who asked if he paid in cash for the Mii-tan hugger pillow he wants Sawa in a bathing suit printed on the other side? And Gentoku saying he wants one as well?

The fight against Evolt was AWESOME! Even if it probably wasn't actually the end of him. If I have learned one thing, it is that tokusatsu episodes that have a title like CHARACTER X DIES HORRIBLY, then they aren't actually dead.
|
Now that I finished the episode OH MY GOD THEY FINALLY GAVE CROSS-Z MAGMA'S WINGS PURPOSE YESSSSSS
|
We all know the Blizzard Knuckle or whatever it is called will be a Premium Bandai release. However, what if... the body pillow will be too? It would be such a bizarre thing that I could actually see it happening.
Anyways, solid episode. The dumb comedy is beyond tiring to me at this point since they keep pushing it into my face, with one of the few characters in the show who should not be used for comedic relief IMO, but everything else worked. |
I can't believe I've come to the point to say this but I've grown tired of Build. It has overstayed its welcome. It's clear that the show should have ended a few episodes back.
This episode clearly showed how. Build has become a typical Kamen Rider show, which is not a bad thing in general, just bad in context. The comedy has become dumb, such as Gentoku's attire or Kazumi's creepiness, the plot had become contrived, such as pointless Katsuragi dad villain, and characters exist merely for the sake of existing, such as Utsumi. These all things were obvious a few episodes ago but it is only now that I've become intolerant of them. Maybe it was because of Gentoku's ridiculous shirt gimmick, maybe it was because of Evolt's rather anticlimactic death and the fact that it won't stick. Whatever the reason, I am finally tired of this series. I'll still watch till the end though, out of remembrance of the Build that was. Which is a damn shame because the episode itself was good. It was just the comedy in between that left a bitter taste in my mouth. |

This show lost most, if not all of its spark after the tournament between Touto and Seito. There were still some good things after, but the show just drags so much now. I think I haven't been legitimately excited for an episode after Cross-Z Magma had its debut. It’s just "Guess I’ll watch it" ever since. Too bad, but at least the great stuff of Build is still there, I can always rewatch that and ignore the rest. |
I guess I'm the only one here who is legitimately excited for each episode of Build every week. Sure some things about the series could be done better, but the same could be said of any show. I really love this show, and I am super excited to see how things play out over the next few episodes. This episode was no different. It was great seeing the 4 riders truly come together at the end like they did to execute Sento's plan. And while we obviously know Evolt really isn't dead, I like that this is more than likely just another part of his master plan.
See, this is why I think Evolt is a great villian. He is always fifty steps ahead of our heroes, with everything being according to plan. Its just going to make his actual defeat all the more satisfying of a victory. So yeah, I still love Build alot. |

I still enjoy the show and look forward to it every week, but I'm not 'on the edge of my seat', like I was during the middle of the season.
It's a good show though. |

I think the Pandora Tower being formed and Evolt getting his Black Hole Form happened way too soon and I honestly think the writer is stalling as a result. I still very much enjoy Build but I feel the toy release schedule kinda fucked the writer up this time.
|
So what happened with the pandora tower? Is it still there? I don't remember it crashed down.

For what it's worth, some of the problems people are complaining about with Build now, like the hamfisted comedy, have been there from day one, and I've never seen a Rider show that hasn't been accused of padding out the plot to 50-ish episodes, so that's nothing new either. I think the people who are finding themselves disappointed with Build right now are only feeling that way because they care. Build was almost indisputably an above-par show for so long that anything under that seems like a huge betrayal. I think as long the ending is solid everybody will make peace with it after a while. |
Mad Rogue is one big fat mad joke...he is getting his butt kicked and screwing up like the useless lackey he is...
so next ep, Shinobu probably going to die. cue the 'NOOOOOO' and screaming from Sento...xD |
Build's not as good as it was in the beginning, but I still think it's a solid cut above many Rider seasons. I was prepared to say it was my favorite series overall, but it's fallen a bit under Ex-Aid and Gaim after Kamen Rider Evol's debut. Still a solid Top 5 though.
And yeah, as Fish stated, it's pretty common for most Rider shows to fumble the ending, and the ones that don't usually have a rough start, like Drive. |
I don't get what people mean with that the comedy sucked tbh, these characters all mesh together and have great chemistry, which imo makes these dumbass interactions feel more natural

It's an awful attempt to fit even more comedy into a show which had initially found its balance with seriousness and comedic belief, but has since been way too obnoxious with all the random stuff it pushes into my face. And furthermore it kinda ruins Gentoku as a character for me which I'm not okay with. |

Gentoku being goofy is one of his natural personality. When the show started and we got that "Henshin Lesson - Night Rogue" short video, it was implied that Gentoku's true personality was a funny one, but forced himself to be dead dark and serious. Granted it should have been seen in the show waaaaaay before now to make it relevant and not weird. But it's not coming out of nowhere and was intended from the start. |

Sorry but that doesn’t sound right. |
I'm not here to debunk your statements. Chill dude. I'm just telling you it exists and doesn't appear out of nowhere. And even if it's short videos, they have to be written. So it counts.
They had this idea as far as October. Fact. |
Yeah Gentoku's supposed to be more relaxed as we know that he likes karaoke, eating strawberry sundaes and as seen in the first episode, he hit on Sawa. Saying it doesn't fit Gentoku is false. However, the fact it's such a drastic change and the biggest hints aren't from the show means the criticism is still valid, albeit on a different level, because when you know someone for so long and they do things that are so different from what you're used to 40 episodes is, it's ridiculously jarring

The jokes they’re making in this short are meta, in the sense that they're filming an infomercial of sorts, and the humor Gentoku uses is way different form his current personality. In fact, he isn't using any humor at all, he's just making devilish faces really close to the camera and the comedy comes from the cameramen interrupting him. How any of this is an explanation or hint at Gentoku originally being a fashion fanatic with a lighthearted personality is beyond me. Quote:

I personally think they would have been better off using him as a straight man unable to understanding the joking around of the others. In some ways, if they had done it right, it would have been even funnier.
Oh well, no season's perfect. |
Hey, the jokes around my locale is that Gentoku and Kazumi had been kicked in the head too much by Evolt and Utsumi they have some screws loose now. They had also been exposed to much nebula gas, that's another sanity instabilizer there.

(though I could be wrong. But I do remember seeing it too) |

Honestly.......I kinda like that Gentoku's "natural" personality is one of a total goofball and not the edgelord we expected him to be.
I mean yeah, one could make the argument that it undermines everything that happened with his dad plus his role as a legitimately threatening villain in the middle of the show, but I'm actually glad we didn't get 15 episodes of him moping about his dad and being an emo kid like Batman. Plus, it seems like Sento and Misora are playing the straight men to this otherwise wacky cast of characters, so it's not necessary for Gentoku's to play that role. As far as Kazumi....come on, he's Otoya Kurenai. I wouldn't expect anything less than him swooning over his female allies every minute. |
