thanks for posting!!
really looking forward to this movie. I liked the Amazons series a lot. |
Huh, neat design, but that’s kinda standard for Amazonz. Dunno if i’ll actually watch this movie or not
|
Oh wow, the Neo-Alpha suit looks great.
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/...20121006034257 :) Err... Sorry, I meant the other Neo-Alpha. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/...20121006034257 :( Anyhow, the suit appears to be repainted, or at the very least heavily based off, the Amazon Neo suit. Major differences I immediately notice are the helmet design being more geared towards Alpha's silhouette rather than Omega's (which makes perfect sense), and the bits of the shoulder pads, pelvis, and lower arm that were all silver on the Neo suit have now been colored in. |
I'm gonna be honest....I have no clue what's going on in that helmet.
But everything else looks awesome. Unlike many people (it seems), I loved the second season if Amazons so I'm pumped for this movie. |
The actor who will play Einosuke Mido/Amazon Neo Alpha is actor Nobuo Kyo who is most famous as Isshu/Kuwaga Raiger from Hurricanger and Horse Fangire in Kiva. Another one to the list of "I Was A Ranger And A Rider" club added.

Is it me or does he have what looks like a mini-gun on his right forearm...?

Why is Amazonz still going
|
phew. no Chihiro stuff in the trailer.
I bet he will be present though, but not a main point. I'm glad they learned from their S2 mistake and realized S1 characters were the interesting part. New amazon rider looks cool. |
What an ugly suit. Definitely the weakest design I have seen out of this series. So no, I definitely don't want to see a Figuart of this but they'll make one regardless.
The movie looks interesting though, hope there's some way we can see it with subs one day. |

Yeah I'm not crazy about thew new suit either.. I think I like the colors, but definitely not the helmet.
But hey still excited about the movie. Can't wait to eventually see it. |
Is that a got-damn gatling gun on his forearm?

I like the concept of the new rider but somehow it just feels like a stage show rider :(

That said, I do hope Amazons ends after this. There's nowhere else for them to go with it. |

I, for one, find Amazons extremely distasteful. There is such a thing as being too dark and needlessly edgy, and Amazons pole-vaults over that line. Series 2 especially, given how grotesque it is. Gaim and Build are perfect examples that you can be dark and complex without going too far. |

Honestly the first series wasn't too bad. Still edgy for the sake of being edgy, but in a charming sort of way. Season 2 had a really good story...but it was bogged down by the pointless gore. Amazons as a story requires gore...but the first series did so tastefully. The second was just overdoing it for shock value. |
that is also extremely subjective.
I love Amazons and I love seeing what Kamen Rider would look like if it were real. I managed to get friends who have no interest in Toku or Kamen Rider to watch both seasons of Amazons specifically because it's adult/dark/gory. Where something like Ex-Aid just makes them roll their eyes. It's not too gory or too dark to me, it's as nasty as it should be for what it is. That said I wouldn't want every Kamen Rider show to be that dark or gory, but it's nice that there is at least one Rider series that's "adult." |
Amazonz just reminds me far too much of the dark age of comics. “We’re gonna make it realistic which means blood and gore and almost everyone is an asshole!”
And just, no, that’s not what I’m here for at all. I can kind of understand the appeal, but I absolutely do not think it’s good. |

Sure, I'm just glad there's at least one 'dark and grim and bloody' Rider series.
And it's not like there isn't (idk, 30?) other Rider series to watch if that's not your thing. |
I think people are forgetting that Kamen Rider as a TV series is watered down from Ishinomori's original idea. Shin Kamen Rider was meant to be that original idea brought to life. Despite being loosely based on Amazon Rider, Amazons is essentially Shin with more detail. I'm simply glad that Rider still has some grit left. As good as Gaim and Build are, even they sometimes don't measure up to classics like Kuuga and Agito for various reasons.

I initially thought parts of Season 2 were needless shock value, but to my pleasant surprise they were weaved into the greater themes of the story nicely. |
I like that Kamen Rider can have a series for adults while the main series is aim to kids and the general audience similar how Marvel does with the Netflix shows and the MCU movies.
Having a grindhouse exploitation Kamen Rider show was a nice welcome in my book. |
I think the thing for me with Amazons is that they're allowed to do A LOT more than they can with the main show, and I don't just mean "showing more gore".
Although I would say Kamen Rider aims for an older audience than Sentai (typically), it's still very much for kids. That means, to an extent, Toei has to play it "safe". The hero is almost always an all-loving hero who is by far the most morally sound character in the entire cast. No matter what trials and tribulations the hero faces, there's always the guarantee that they'll come out on top and save the day. It's a zone where kids can feel safe and comfortable. Then you take Amazons, which is pretty much allowed to go balls to the wall. I mean, you had Chihiro, the guy who seems to fit the mold of a standard Rider protagonist, until he goes apeshit, kills a bunch of people and you find out he's literally too dangerous to be left alive, yet you still feel sympathy for him because it's not really his fault. You had Haruka, who fights on behalf of humanity at first, except he willingly turns his back on them so that the monsters of the series can live in peace away from them. Let's not even get started on Jin, who couldn't give a damn about "justice" and "peace" and really only cares about rectifying his past mistakes. Even the most outwardly villainous characters in the series are fighting against the monsters. Yeah, the Amazons aren't even really evil, they're just hungry. It's the human characters that are trying to hunt them that you really need to be scared about. The fact that it's aimed at adults allows it to have so much more complexity that it wouldn't have if it were shoehorned into a mainstream Rider formula (not that there's anything wrong with it, I just welcome the change). |

Right. Amazons does have some disturbing imagery. But there's a purpose to the gore, rather than having gore for the sake of gore. Amazons isn't Tarantino-esque violence porn. There's a real story to tell. Is it perfect? Nothing is; even the shows I consider the best have problems. But it was fun having the "good ol' days" of the early 2000s again.

very well said, everything on this page.

During the 70's and 80's, Japanese shows and manga for kids was able to get away with more darker and violent stuff because Japan's standers and censorship was way different. Even manga like Devilman, Barefoot Gen, City Hunter, Patlabor, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Baoh, Fist of the North Star and The Guyver was aim to kids in the 70's and 80's. |

Amazons wouldn't have been interesting if it were 'just' gore. There was a cool story happening.
I really liked Alpha/Jin and look at the show as 'his' story. But the interesting thing (or one of the interesting things) about the show is it looks different depending on who you think of as the main character. Season 2 could be all about Iyu, or all about Jin, or all about Chihiro, or.... it all looks different depending on who you focus on. |
