Haim Saban
Do you guys think, that Saban in cares with money than with franchise itself ?
|
Isn't the franchise the most profitable it's been since the early 90s?
If Saban didn't care about it why would they put the time and resources into making it so? Just because some vocal adult fans on the internet don't like how it is at the moment doesn't mean the makers suddenly "don't care". At the end of the day the show is, was and always will be made to make money. |
Yeah, but the last seasons didn't have a great reception even with current audiences.

To which I reply, the financial side. It's always been just about the money. Bandai of America cares more about the history and legacy of the brand than Saban does, and all they do is make the toys. |
Unfortunately, they'll only care about the money. It's why Nick is making all these decisions with PR these days. It maximizes profit. Filming 40 episodes, then splitting it to last 2 years (Or, at least, over a year), to keep the toys on the shelves longer, and to reduce the quality of the toys to both produce them cheaper and sell them at a lower price.
Yeah, they only care about the money. |
Yeah a company notorious for how cheap it is cares more about profit than quality.
Shocking I know. |
Is Saban himself even directly involved with the franchise anymore?
|
I'm sort of confused about that too. I assumed when people talk about Saban they mean the company, but lately I keep seeing it used to refer to the guy like he makes every single decision regarding PR all by himself, so... does he?

i like haim saban - he is good owner for power rangers

Which is kind of funny, because the franchise was kind of a pet project of his prior to MMPR's debut.
Seriously, he originally pitched it using Bioman and he actually burst into the Jetman OP as part of the pitch that finally got off the ground. If I really wanted to be nasty/cynical I would say the hate is because he's a Jew. |
Yeah. It was changed to Zyuranger because it was the most current available Sentai and wouldn't look as dated.
However, I wouldn't really call it his pet project. He pitched it specifically because it would be a cheap and effective way to make more money. He designed it to intentionally be as cheap as possible. Some PR copycats would prove that it wasn't as cheap as we all thought, but you get the idea :lol |
I thought it was because Dinosaurs. Why try to sell birds to kids when you can offer the easy money that is dinosaurs? Besides, what does one year's difference really make for "dated" effects, especially for an annual weekly kid's show?
And what else am I supposed to call something that you push on for 7 years with no success? I'm not claiming that he was in it for any form of "artistic endeavor" but... well, what am I to call it? |
also he made vr troopers with some metal heroes
he made knights of tir na nog too |

I don't think the change to Zyu had anything to do with the dinosaurs, though. Since I think he was just as willing to use Fiveman, too (Don't quite remember) And fair enough~ |
I suppose, I just found it weird to go from saying it was purely a cash grab to then start talking about decisions made for the sake of quality. Seemed like an odd juxtaposition of ideas there.
|
The idea itself was a cash grab, but Saban isn't a poor businessman. He'd choose the show with the highest quality because it'd probably yield a greater return.
They'd probably all cost the same to license, anyway. I dunno, though. |

P.S.: Anyone ever realize that despite Mighty Morphin' being dinosaur-based, Saban and Co. never really dealt with the matter too much in Season 1! It's simply the given motif, but no genuine explanation was given at that time as to "Why dinosaurs?" http://powerrangers.wikia.com/wiki/E...ne!_Gouryuujin |

If the toys are selling, kids must like it well enough. If that's the case then saying its not getting a "great reception" isn't exactly true. It not appealing to the wider demographic of fans is a different matter entirely. |

There's was a time Saban in cares with storytelling.

You'll never see them do something like Bootleg Power Rangers because we aren't the target audience nor will we ever be. At the end of the day, Saban is a CEO of a big company and to him, all he cares about is making money. He dosen't care about you, he doesn't care about the fans, nor does he care about story, so deal with it. |

I wouldn't say never, depends on who owns the license. It's most probably true, but it's only improbable for it to have a massive target demographic shift, not impossible.
I personally doubt it ever will, but, who knows, maybe they might start making a sub-line of shows aimed at older fans, like how the toys work, with stuff like Legacy and Figuarts. |

And when it comes to a massive demographic shift...if you're going to insist on looking at the slim chance of it happens, then you also need to analyse why. Why anyone who would want to buy the licence from Saban would want to go with that huge risk. And it is a huge risk. The 'adult demographic' you're talking about doesn't exist as a comprehensive whole. You have those who like things as they are, those who simply want series like RPM, or Lost Galaxy, and then there are those who want things like...that bootleg. But even ignoring that, there is a much larger reason that anything massively different than what we have now is next-to-impossible. And that is, that Power Rangers relies on toy sales to function, and adult fans buy far less toys then kids do, because everything has to be perfect if it will live on a shelf, whereas a kid is just happy to have their favorite character to play with. Less toys bought, and those toys needing to be a higher quality means a far narrower profit margin, if any at all. Which makes continued production of an 'adult' Power Rangers series impossible to sustain. Which is why that second idea is impossible. Producing two series simultaneously would be a massive drain - even if, as you say, the second were to be much smaller. Why bother with that drain if only one series would be a profit anyway? |
it not haim saban faut and it is john t falut
john t runied power rangers series |

I'm with Chaos on this. I think you have a much better chance of another Sentai inspired show apart from Power Rangers aimed at an older demographic than an official PR show. Like the demographic difference between Sentai and Kamen Rider. Who knows - if the Ranger movie does major $$$ you might just get your wish - in the same way that there's a plethora of superhero shows now, you might get a more dramatic, American, Sentai inspired show because there's clearly an audience for it.

Who knows, Saban might actually try to make another Rider adaptation.
...What? It seems like the simplest/cheapest way to do pretty much exactly what you guys have said. They've got a working relationship with Toei and Bandai, so maybe they could finagle the rights for say... Wizard seems like a reasonable choice. Depends on whether that rumor I heard about the Ishinomori estate basically putting a kibosh on Saban ever getting their hands on Rider ever again have any substance. Note, it's not necessarily my wish, I'm just a gadfly/devil's advocate. Mostly when people start talking about the future in absolutes. |
I think we'll not have a KR adaptation anytime soon.
|
no way kr apat - saban will stick with power rangers

Hell, they could even use one of those team-ups as a springboard, get the new series up and running by coasting on the already running decently.
Admittedly, they did something similar with Masked Rider debuting in Rangers originally and just searching YouTube should reveal how that ended up working. Dragon Knight is pretty decent, acting's awful but the plot's decent. It's basically like Guyver: Dark Hero in quality, which makes sense considering the crew involved. |
i like haim saban bring back knights of tir na nog show
whole new knights of tir na nog be kids of oringal knights of tir na nog |
