The Return of Izenborg
|
Return of Izenborg is a tokusatsu series. Because it's not news, it's been moved to the Tokusatsu Show discussion forum.
|
What's the background? When was this?

Care to provide any info or explanation or...anything, really?

It's actually Dinosaur War Izenborg. A Toku series produced by Tsuburaya that was a blend between your standard Daikaiju action as well as anime scenes. It's somewhat meta as it's set in a universe where Ultraman is a TV show.
It's part of Tsuburaya "Dinosaur" trilogy of shows. There's info out there that you can dig up on Google without much trouble, but, yeah. There's some basic info. There's a lot more info on what the show is actually about on both Wikipedia and the Ultraman wiki, but yeah, there's something to get you started :lol My biggest question is why half the pictures posted here have Arabic or something written on them, and what that has to do with anything. EDIT: Apparently it was super big in Saudi Arabia. Cleared that up :lol |
Well I guess that explains all of the Arabian script.
|
The first image translates to something about a new co-production with Saudi Arabia though, which is where my confusion stems from and what I wanted context for. The later pictures are clearly old film stills from the original series. Thanks for the full title and factoids though. I always love learning something new about obscure tokusatsu. =)
Edit: I actually found info on it now. Dare we dream of Tsuburaya green-lighting a new Izenborg show in the wake of the new footage theyre shooting? A man can dream...I hope its at least released online after its premiere. Here's the link: https://www.tsuburaya-prod.co.jp/en/...y-of-izenborg/ |
hi text on the image coming from the site

A few early episodes of this were translated and released on vhs (later DVD) as ATTACK OF THE SUPER MONSTERS. Izenborg didn't have a kaiju hero to begin, it was more like Thunderbirds - a lot of crazy vehicles fighting kaiju (similar to Koseidan). It was weird and hilarious; the anime heroes were Gatchaman style, featuring a set of paternal twins - one male, one female - who combine into a (human sized) cyborg superhero. The monsters are rubber suit kaiju who are "super intelligent" and psychic, possessing domestic animals to own the humans and yell intelligent things like "KILL!!!........ DESTROY!!!". It's awesomely stupid!
This reboot could be interesting, |
Since I'm an acquaintance of the man behind the project, allow me to explain the backgrounds of what is this:
First of all, Izenborg is one the most popular heroes and anime/Toku show in the Middle East. One fan of the series, "Jarrah Al Fareeh" is known among the community as the fan of the franchise. Not only he got to visit Tsuburaya Studious but he owns some of the original props and cosplays as the characters and he's the one who kickstarted this little project of reviving Izenborg to the crowd in this documentary "The Return of Izenborg" in celebration for the series's 40th anniversary. 30 minutes of it was aired on TV last Friday with the full DVD release to be released soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8iq...l=kaizu%20land You can contact Jarrah on his Instagram page where he goes as Aizen_Fleed https://www.instagram.com/aizen_fleed/ |
So it's the documentay! Nice!
|
Believe it or not, there WAS actually an American adaptation of Izenborg.
