Goseiger & Megaforce DX Gosei Great Comparison Gallery!
30 Attachment(s)
Tokunation is proud to bring you a comparison gallery of the DX Gosei Great from Tensou Sentai Goseiger and the DX Gosei Great Megazord from Power Rangers Megaforce! This gallery showcases the size differences and massive differences in the designs of these 2 figures. If you're trying to decide whether to go for the original Bandai Japan version or the scaled down Bandai America version we hope this extensive 30 image gallery helps you decide!
As a collector, my personal preference is for the original BOJ Gosei Great. It has a show accurate transformation & design and is in the appropriate colors. The BOA Gosei Great Megazord is a scaled down cheaper version of the original that feels as though it's made of much lighter and cheaper plastic. And it also takes quite a few liberties with the design and transformation. Since it's designed with BOA's Zord Builder system in mind fans of this may find it to be right up their alley. It's not that much smaller is it. Gosei Knight forgive me, but I like the stylized sword better than the original. And the headsculpt. It somehow looks more detailed than the original. I think BoA did a really great job with this, I really honestly do.

The ONLY pros I have at all for this set: -The hinged wings. It's nice that they fold in the middle. HOWEVER that is still completely inaccurate. At no point can I remember the Great bending it's wings at a center joint. So it irks me that they went this far to change the transformation of the figure. -The collapsing neck on Dragon. Again it's a nice touch but's it's poorly executed and totally unnecessary since, again, that's not at all how it transformed in the show. Short story is I'm already selling the US version. |
Now if the plastic quality was equal on both, my preference would probably be the American version. I do think the proportions combined look better on the Megazord, but they always do compared to the Japanese release.
However the talk of cheap plastic does worry me a lot. Cheap plastic simply isn't justifiable for a toy that costs $30 and above. Den-O, how does the plastic compare to the Samurai Megazord and the MMPR 2010 Megazord? |
Awesome, been waiting for a good comparison gallery! Nice one Den-O :D
I quite like what they've done with it, but the original is still definitely winning out in this case. The changes they've made to the dragon are great from design point of view, but I liked the neck becoming the sword and this new sword looks measly in comparison. The only way I'd really be interested in buying this is if I had the Samurai and 2010 Dino Megazords, which I don't. So its nice, but not quite for me. I'll just look out for the minipla and hope we may see an SRC down the line. |
I think you're all insane. Or it could be my Gosei love blinding me a little, but I love this thing. Enough I'm considering buying yours, Den.
|
Pity. Not that i would buy either. Still waiting a year for Jolly Roger Megazord.

Thanks for the in depth gallery/comparison. Doesn't look as good as the Japanese version, but that's to be expected. I'm hoping the American Gosei Ground will turn out much better than this did.

The thing that bugs me here are is BOA's proportions. The one thing I defended about the BOA version of past toys is that there proportions they fell more well humanoid proportioned compared to the Japanese version, but looking at these, BOJ is much better proportioned the BOA's, so Den-O for once I will agree with you the the BOJ Goseigreat is the better....that said I'll probably still get the BOA version as I really dont want to spend what counted to an average of $102 (I went on Ebay really quick added up the prices of the Greats and divined by the number of Greats) before shipping on a "slightly" proportioned version of this mech and I mostly likely get any of the brothers or DATS or Gosei Ground all of witch in the end would end up costing me to much money

This reminds me, Den-O, do you prefer the Gosei Great over the Gokaioh? |

toy. In show I would still say I like the Gosei Great better than Gokaioh. The Gokaioh looks good as a robot but it doesn't feel like a unified combiner with true individual pieces. The gimmick is the galleon, the other stuff is just there. The Gosei Great however has a beautiful design and when it all comes together it really feels like the individual parts make up the whole thing. |

i love this design, yes its not the strongest megazord, but the design completely makes up for it, plus all the seaick landick (and skyick to an extent) look so much better, the new heads were always too long

I actually really like how the Header ports on the US version are colored like the Zords they're part of. I always thought that all the giant black plugs on Gosei Great really detracted from its overall look.
|
I'm not a huge Super Sentai fan, nor am I as big a PR fan as I used to be, though I've bought the 2010 Megazord and all the components for Samurai Gigazord, so I'll probably by the zords from this series. It still looks neat, but it's clear the Japanese version is better. I just don't feel like paying a crap ton of money for it. XD
|
this is not pleasing its like a cheap representation of it, the 2010 MMPR zord looks better than this. kinda sucks was actually willing to buy it but now idk.

I agree with Sentai... this thing looks great! never liked the original, but the newer, smaller version looks sleek! B.O.S!

Wasn't much a fan of Goseiger but Gosei Great is easily one of my top five sentai mech designs. the BOA versions, well is exactly what I have come to expect from BOA. Dunno if i will pick it up or not
Might get some added fun from this version if the connectors are the same as the Samurai Megazord and do some part swapping. |
You know what would be great? If Bandai of America released a "Deluxe" version, that is basically an import of the Japanese version and priced higher. This would be like the Jungle Fury re-releases of the Gekiranger DX toys priceds at $40 and above. I would buy those.

As cool as that would be, I suspect if it happened the most we'd probably ever see is the base robos though.
|
Man the days when we thought BoA was on the up and up... oh those days have long passed it seems.
