New Godzilla Double Feature Blu Rays
Sony's going to be releasing 4 Blu-ray double features. They will all have dual language tracks and be in the proper aspect ratios for each film. For most of these films, it will be the first time they will be available in Japanese in North America. Good stuff.

They should also have their ending credits included.

Final Wars! Cool!

No 1984 and Biollante pack? Also how odd they chose to pack Destoroyah and Megaguirus and not Godzilla 2000.

Last time it was looked into, 84/85 was owned by one of WB's divisions, but they don't have the license to distribute it, only to sit on it. Rumor has it 2000 is going to get its own release that will be a double disc set containing the Sony dub and then the Japanese version. I'm going to guess we will see 2000 along with a GMK/GxMG pack when the new movie hits video in Aug/Sept. |
I might have to get the Destoroyah/Megaguirus pack. I don't really understand these packaging decisions though. Why re-release Tokyo SOS but not Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, and why pack it with Final Wars? Why package Destoroyah with Megaguirus instead of either 2000 or SpaceGodzilla? I guess you could say that it's because there's already a D/SG pack, but there's already a Godzilla vs King Ghidorah/Godzilla vs Mothra pack and that's being re-released.
Still waiting for Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, Godzilla 1984, and a re-release of Destroy All Monsters. Hopefully someday. Quote:

Destroy All Monsters is finally getting a re-release this year, but it's without all the great special features of of the prior Media Blasters release.
Glad I didn't cave on most of the very old Heisei DVDs, I'm sure to at least pick up all of those. Will probably get SOS/FW down the line, but I've seen Final Wars so many times and didn't particularly love Tokyo SOS so I won't be in a rush to get that pair. |
I'm kind of surprised they're not also pairing up GMK and against MechaGodzilla to squeeze out one more pack. It'd be nice to get Blu Rays of those too.

That sounds great. I'm curious, where have you heard this? |
Man, I don't know why, but every time I try to watch a Godzilla movie, I end up falling asleep part way through. I don't know why, but it's hard for me to take an interest in Godzilla, and this includes both early and more recent flicks.
I really want to like Godzilla, I really do, but I don't know why it ends up boring me. But I'm still going to give the new movie a shot. |

If you want the best action watch Final Wars. For a more real or gritty experience I'd recommend Godzilla vs. Hedorah. Also Vs. Hedorah brings in some symbolism about pollution and stuff that was in the first movie. If you want a continuous story line you should go Heisei. The first 2 may be boring if you're not a Godzilla lover but there really isn't much to miss though the Biollante movie is necessary to the plot in Vs. SpaceGodzilla. Starting with Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah in the Heisei would be a good intro to that particular series without much worry for boredom. |
