Kamen Rider Geats Merchandising Thread
Our first look at the gimmick line for this series: Revolve Change!
https://www.bandai.co.jp/catalog/ite...49660833420000 |
I really hope we get a much fuller line this year, it kind of sucks last few years when we only see a few riders/ forms in the main gimmick line like Revice only did 3 sets of the Gnome change and peaced out. Either way on it's own Revolve Change Geats looks Great
|
Since the belt can be grabbed in stores, I'm hoping the figures make it here. When I was 15, I wanted the Gaim figures, but with this new season I'm hyped to see what kind of crazy combos we get.
|
Am I the only one getting an Optimus Minor vibe from this?
|
|
This new line a figures looks pretty interesting, an evolution on gimmicks from Double, Build, Gaim, and X Emperor. They're really leaning into how many different forms Geats can change, going by the demo of the Desire Driver.
|
Do we know when preorders for the Desire Driver will go up on Japanese retailers? Thought it was supposed to start Aug 1st, but I'm not seeing it on Amiami or HLJ yet

You know what, the gun is kinda cute. Like a Chibi Revolver. |
|
We need to wait the full version of Buffa's Default Form. He must obtain a new Raise Buckle to complete his legs armour.

That one person whose theory was that the other Rider?s only get one Raise Buckle each was seemingly correct. The Desire Driver has been hacked, and the only unique combination sounds are with Boost (for example ?Boost and Magnum!? or ?Boost and Zombie!?). Nothing ?pairs? with Zombie other than Boost, so it looks like they?re all going to be fighting over Boost until the ones that get further upgrades get those upgrades. |
I kinda figured most Riders' default form *would* be just a single high-tier plate rather than two. Buffa in particular doesn't feel incomplete

With Geats saying he has an ace up his sleeve and showing the Boost buckle. It seems to be the special thing he has an no one else does. |
RCF Geats is out, and I feel this is EXTREMELY important to note -- they've abandoned the RKF scale and are back to being 6'!!!

Hm... I really love the changing pattern gimmick on the middle ring, and it would be kind of a let down if none of the other Buckles feature that gimmick.
|
I would imagine it was easier to design the change gimmick if the figures were much larger than the previous seasons. RKF and Remix were pretty much just clip-on attachments so they could get away with smaller figures. Revolve Change needs all these different pieces to swivel and hinge, I can see that being a headache if the pieces were too small
|
I'm disappointed that there's no indication that the other entrants get both an upper and lower half. I'm also surprised that Buffa doesn't at least come with a lower half that incorporates Hammer or one of the other weapon Raise Buckles.
I'm curious as to whether any of the Revolve Change figures include a value-add of a set of proper replacement hands and feet, since the gimmick hands and feet look so janky. If they do it, I expect it'll probably be a Premium Bandai item. In fact, I'm a little surprised there wasn't an initial push toward showing off more of the Revolve Change heroes, since it seems like they're doing something closer to the cross-compatibility of the Gaim figures. Also, interesting to note that the implication, from what isn't and isn't in the initial wave (except for SoDo, which is always on a quick turnaround), is that Tycoon being the show's functional main character was a writer's room decision rather than baked into the premise from the toy level up. |
Is there any info on whether all of the buckles are going to get a DX version? I tried looking around but could only see the SG and GP versions releasing soon. Maybe it doesn't matter since they look pretty much the same as the DX versions, so I'm happy to get either one instead. Though maybe there's some sound or light aspect that I'm not realizing?

The differences between SG/GP/DX versions of Bandai Narikiri toys can be deceiving. Functionally they can be identical, but the actual internals are very different.
For Shift Cars, the GP versions used a single piece flexible plastic ring with notches to produce the click. While the DX versions used a multi-piece plastic mechanism with a spring. The latter design being way more durable and feeling more satisfying even though they both essentially do the same thing. Lock Seeds are similar, with the DX versions having a complex spring and notch system, while the SG relied on plastic tension. But yeah, stuff like the Buckles and Sentai Gears are so simple that's probably not a worry. Though I do understand that the buckles have moving parts so you never know until one is opened up! |
Thanks for the info, both of you! With the recent Avataro Gears, I was feeling silly not just getting the SG sets instead of the DX ones since they are basically identical. But, yeah, with other stuff like the Saber WonderRide books, I did feel like the DX were a worthwhile upgrade. So now I've been trying to be on the lookout for the non-DX stuff as the ease (since they tend to come bundled) and price of collecting the SG or GP versions is pretty appealing.
|
I am hoping that there will be a DX Saber Buckle from the Geats line.
|
I just saw a few places (such as Tokullectibles) has up the "Mission Box Storage Box & DX Kabuto Zector Raise Buckle" which seems to be a Premium Bandai thing. It looks quite expensive at 8250JPY (or 105USD in the case of Tokullectibles). The box it includes is also a foldable cloth box rather than a hard plastic one like the other DX sets shown so far.
Not quite sure if this will be worth the price when you can get other DX sets like the one with the W buckle and a plastic - rather than cloth - box for less than half of that. |
It's always a bummer when the a Legend Rider item is tied to some P-Bandai exclusive non-item.
As someone who collects Kabuto Legend Rider items this makes me sad :( |
You can also get it with a Kabuto shirt!

Just wanted to comment about the belt connectors for the Desire Driver, since I got mine in recently.
I noticed that previous belts don't quite connect correctly to the new driver as the Desire Driver seems to have some kind of slightly tweaked design. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is but previous belts like from the Saber driver as well as one of those third-party CSM-style belts don't seem to be able to actually click fully into the belt. I wonder why the design was updated as I can't see any major difference other than maybe the size of the pins that connect the belt to the driver. |
Having gotten the DX Zero-One buckle, GP Demons Driver Buckle, and SG Libera Driver Buckle. All three seem pretty much identical in construction and materials other than the respective colors and imagery. Will take a thorough look tomorrow.
|
Yeah, unless I'm mistaken, all of the main belts since Gaim have been standardized in terms of the connections and size of the belt adjustment holes. I think there are differences with some of the non-main-Rider belts like the Shot Riser from Zero-One, for example. But aside from those, all the belts from each main driver are interchangeable. I don't own everything though, so I could be wrong.
|
Looks like there are more preorders and photos out there including a new DX Raise Buckle and a new Revolve Change figure, both of which spoil an upcoming upgrade for one of the Riders.
The Revolve Change figure is weird: it's got a Buffa half and a Tycoon half. I'm surprised there have been only three Revolve Change releases so far, and none of them include bodies for the bare-bones Raise Buckles. Basically, if you've picked up Geats, the bike, and the Tycoon/Buffa release, you've got yourself two and a half figures. |

I get the sense that the people making the toys may not know what to do with the other Riders and the weapon Raise Buckles. This show's approach to the Rider's main form makes marketing the characters tricky. Still, you'd think they'd take a chance on releasing some half-bodies related to weapons and maybe a couple of helmets.
|
Y’know thinking about it some more, I get the feeling the Tycoon ID core campaign is going to be tied to the Command buckle since that’s and upgrade that him and Geats share, plus it comes out at the end of Q1 which is when the campaign is supposed to happen.
|
They better make a Revolve Change Figure Kamen Rider Na-Go figure. This line DESERVES a female figure.

Edit: wait, that's just ninja isn't it. Nevermind. |
With October nearly over now, any idea when BBTS will be getting any of their Geats stuff that was supposed to come in stock in September?

BBTS is quite unpredictable with Bandai releases, so who knows |
The Ninja Raise Buckle showed up today. The shuriken spins in a festive - and surprisingly fast - manner, but I'm realizing that there just aren't enough unique new sounds for me to justify picking up the DX Raise Buckles. I realize that's probably not that different from other recent Driver-Collectible combinations, but this is the first Driver I've picked up other than the CSM Decadriver.
Weird that a new DX roleplay item has shown up, but not the Revolve Change figures I ordered ages ago. I'm more surprised by something recently-released showing up pretty much immediately than I am something I ordered a while ago taking longer than expected. |
Oh, this is going to bother me: I was messing around with the Desire Driver trying to see if there was any way to invoke the "Boostriker" sound from the show, and somehow - I think because a Raise Buckle wasn't seated right - got "Mission Complete." Or maybe it was "Mission Start?" I only heard it the once. Nothing I've done since has been able to replicate it, and I haven't found it among lists of hacked sounds. I'd have assumed that a sound like that would be a basic driver sound, but if that were the case, surely someone would have found it by now...?
On a separate note, the released ID Cores so far are Geats, Buffa, PunkJack, and NaGo, but not Tycoon? Why is his now the lone large-style Raise Buckle to *not* come with an ID Core? |
