Kourin seyo! King-Ohger! |
Thank you!
|
If there'll be another Hurricaneger special only three of the Ura Seven Spears remain!
So far....
Let's just hope after the seven are complete, we'd have a Ninja Storm reunion. With Shane's actor passed away, is it possible to replace Shane to become the new Red Wind Ranger? |
With both Shayne and Sensei/Lothor's actors having passed away, I dunno what they could do for a Ninja Storm special.
|
Kamen Rider has www.kamen-rider-official.com, which contains the stunning Zukan Picture Book Encyclopedia.
Super Sentai used to have the relatively lackluster www.super-sentai.net, which has pretty much folded by all appearances. What other "Official-In-Japan" resources does Super Sentai have? |

That said, TV-Asahi is actually probably one of the best in terms of "official". Their individual Sentai series pages go as far back as Kyoryuger! I haven't tried Go-Busters, and Gokaiger won't work unless you use something like the Wayback Machine. |
Were there more Zyuohger toys, like the DX Brachio Emperor I stumbled across, or is this related to South Korean Dub "Power Rangers Animal Force"!?
https://tokullectibles.com/products/...pr_seq=uniform |
Yeah. South Korea released a complete second series of Cube Animals. They were all redecos and minor retools of the originals. They're currently Korea exclusive, but like the Dino Force Brave/Kyoryuger Brave stuff, they might get an import to Japan.

Key difference is that Kyoryuger got a South Korean Sequel Miniseries, Zyuohger didn't (outside of that brief cameo at the end of Dino Force Brave/Kyoryuger Brave). |
Japan is always willing to make some releases that cater exclusively towards collectors. It wouldn't be too shocking if they released them complete with the normal Korean box and a sleeve over them to describe them.
|
Bit recent, but I'm lagging a bit behind on Kingohger. As someone who aggressively disliked Kyoryuger, is there anything lost by just completely skipping the crossover episodes?

The King Ohger crew will take a certain "item" with them and use it after the crossover for more toy advertisements but all you need to know about that, or don't since it's obvious, is that it comes from that crossover. It's not even shown in the crossover itself, it just pops up the episode after. The only story element worth knowing about can be summed up in one sentence, but I doubt it will ever be relevant again: The humans of Terra (King Ohger planet) are originally not native to that planet; they come from the same planet Earth as the Kyoryugers, they migrated into space a long time ago and found their new home there. |

I didn't get this expensive thing, but I don't think I ever knew there was a fanzine about Sentai years ago!
I asked the dealer and apparently they had six issues. What's the background behind it? How did they gain access back then? Who were they catering to? |
I'm also very interested. If anyone knows the details, write.
As a theory, I can assume that due to the popularity of Power Rangers, someone decided to draw the attention of fans to the origins. Perhaps there was an idea to dub at least the old shows and tested the waters before that. Or maybe this is just an amateur initiative. |
Does anyone know what was Shotaro Ishinomori's thoughts on Battle Fever J and the Sentai shows that came afterwards?
|
I've only seen 90s and 2000s Sentai shows so far, so I was thinking of trying out a show from each decade I haven't sampled yet. Anyone have some suggestions? My tier list is in my signature if you want to consult it. So far I was thinking of the following:
70s: Goranger, for its historical importance. 80s: Liveman, the basic premise of this conflict between scientific peers seems really interesting, but I haven't heard much about it so I don't know if it is actually good. 2010s: Torn between Go-Busters (The spy theme and Buddyroids seems fun, but I'm feeling a little salty towards Kobayashi right now since I'm watching Shinkenger and am not impressed by it) or Zyuohger (I've heard it is extremely solid, but very traditional). 2020s: Donbrothers, because I will never stop burning myself by trying things Inoue wrote. |

P.S. And I should definitely take the time to write about the genius of Professor Bias's design someday. About others: Goranger - such long old shows scare me, but I've only seen good reviews about it. Go-Busters/Zyohger - I would recommend the Zyohger, but basically the show is about the same level; Donbrothers - at least you know what to expect. Not Inoue's worst, but not his best work either. |

Bioman was the first team to have two female members and there's a recycled Hakaider who still to this day is one of my favorite third faction/villains of all time in Super Sentai. Flashman's got a cool premise, first show to have two robots, and the ending is bittersweet. Liveman, pretty much what Mesnick said. Plus, Hurricanger borrowed the premise of the show while Go-onger borrowed its color palette, aka the Olympics palette. 2010s, Gokaiger, Go-Busters, Kyoryuger, ToQger, Zyuohger, Kyuranger, Lupinranger VS Patrenger. Gokaiger is still to this day a nice template of how you do an anniversary show and play with legacy powers. Go-Busters was a nice experimental show for the series, Magi Yellow's actor returns, and has Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen as a non-human ranger with an occasional hangover after refueling too much. :lolol Kyoryuger has samba dancing, dinosaurs, a blue ranger who does dad jokes, Pilaf from Dragon Ball is the narrator and briefly a ranger, has a ranger who is not of Japanese heritage, and Sepiroth from FFVII as the commander. :lolol ToQger was overall fun, don't let the costumes fool you. Zyuohger has one of the most likeable red rangers ever. Kyuranger is a super sentai space opera. Lupinranger VS Patrenger had some issues balancing two teams but the props were fun because they would repurpose past sentai items as treasures they must retrieve and their names are nice wordplay on pop song titles. 2020s, all of them. Kiramager started Japan's new era with something familiar then the real fun began when Zenkai, DonBro, and Kingohger collectively became a hat trick of curveballs trying different things. |

No, you're right, it is Dynaman. Quote:

I'm really excited for Liveman after seeing it get some praise. Sometimes these more ambitious sounding shows don't live up to their concepts, but it sounds even better than my initial impression!
I'm thinking I'll stick with my initial picks, though I might swap Donbrothers for Zenkaiger if I'm in the mood for something funnier (I believe people often consider it Carranger-esque). Definitely keeping all the other suggestions in mind for later though! |

Oh man, I totally didn't even realize Boonboomger started. How is it so far?
And on that note, how were KingOhger and Kyuranger? Those were the shows airing while I was in Japan for my first two visits, so I have good memories attached to them, so I'd like to check them out eventually. |

I know I asked this once before, but I don't think I ever got a conclusive answer: Why did Gingat's Seiju Costume change from furry to solid?
If you focus on the first several episodes, Gingat is different than the other Seiju, but it soon shifts to look more in line with the others without explanation. What was the behind the scenes reason for this shift? |
Where is the artbook(s) that contain concept art for the Sentai mechs? particularly the first half of Heisei? I'd love to have them to one day expand on my own Mecha work.
|
For Hero Mama League, how important is it that I have seen the original shows? Like, obviously it'll be better because I'll know the characters and be excited to see them return, but how much does it rely on knowledge from the shows? How much will it spoil the original shows?
