I foresee this sucking major dick. How I hope to be wrong.

This episode was actually super good, surprisingly. I skipped the song bit though.
I like the focus on Hammy and Naga, this was both a good character episode for Hammy, something she doesn't have a lot of, and a good conclusion to Naga's arc. They're also finally bothering to hint at what Don Armage actually is, which is, as much as I love him, a lot more than Genis' twist got. Also, next week's monster is a tentacle martian in a robot body who has a Muppet mouth, is constantly smoking a cigar, and wears shutter shades. I think I might have found the best monster in Sentai history, sorry Makuin. |
And there's your idol episode. Just keep the false propaganda coming, keep lying to Japan's youth and feed them lies sucking the gullible ones into thinking being an idol is the greatest thing ever when in fact they're just slaves for the media who can't chose how- Oh wait, got carried away again...
Actually this one is one of the better ones since it's not about Hammy being an idol and her show wasn't the focus. |
Being an idol in Japan at least holds more considerable cultural weight than say being an American Idol. Even if both are shills for consumerism.
I wish this episode had been called Moon Over My Hammy. I love that Naga actually got some more closure, as did our resident Chameleon. It's not gonna win any awards, but as the standard singing episode goes, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it was the Naga/Lucky background synchro dancing that made it awesome. |

And I kinda didn't like how they tied Don Armage into all of this. He was the puppet sitting on the guy's shoulder because...? But hey, I enjoyed two episodes of Kyuranger in a row, that's something! Plus, next week I might have to eat my words regarding a certain topic or I get to gloat about how I was right. I'm excited to find out, and people hitting Lucky is kind of awesome so I'm all in! |
You know, when I saw Kento Shimoyama was writing another episode, I was really worried, considering he totally botched the single chance Garu has had so far at actual development, even if the episode was still funny. It's a fairly subtle difference, but I felt his writing style didn't gel with Kyuranger at all. It was just bland filler.
This episode, though! Man, it was everything that makes me love Ninninger, except it was Kyuranger. Wacky antics mixed with genuine heart and developed heroes. Brilliant, I love it. This worked fantastically as an epilogue to the whole Hebitsukai Metal story and bringing it back around to Hammy was a great choice. We also FINALLY got that episode with Hiroya Matsumoto as an actual guest character, so any way you slice it, this episode rocks. An unexpected favorite of the series for me. Quote:
