MMPR Themed Thomas The Tank Engine Trains Revealed
2 Attachment(s)
In a rather bizarre cross promotion, the company responsible for Thomas the Tank Engine trains is going to be doing Power Rangers themed trained based on characters from Mighty Morphin:
|
...Whut?
|
Feels odd seeing that we are now skipping ToQger.
|
What the hell
|
Here's all I have to say on it.

OK this is odd I mean this would been great cross promotional thing if sabandoned was not skipping toquger
|
Oh I like these! And my son will love then!
|
Kamen Rider has a Pac-Man movie - MMPR has Thomas...
What's next? Ultra Elmo? |
wut
No, you don't get to do this if you skipped ToQGer. Either go all the way with Trains or don't use them, but don't make a bizarre crossover that makes no sense! |
What happened to "American kids don't care about trains"?

Well...Okay then.
|
These will make decent gateway drugs to get really young kids into the franchise. It's a very narrow focus product that really doesn't reflect at all on the decisions made in reference to ToQger.
|
Much as I like these (Thomas was a huge part of my childhood), if you're planning on this, DON'T F--KING SKIP TOQGER!

This announcement just comes across as a bit odd considering that they've glazed over ToQger almost completely. Then again...maybe this could be testing the waters, to see how Power Ranger trains would sell over here? |
I'm starting to wonder if I'm caught in some strange delusion between this and Ex-Aid.

Oh no... Ex-aid's weirdness is spreading to America! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!
|
...As absurdly neat as this is it's a dumb idea to do this considering they skipped Toqger.
Id be up for Thomas beung a zord for that megazord. |

It's hella weird, but every big franchise has something like this somewhere down the line :lol |
MAybe they're debating on whether or not to use the footage from the Ninninger Vs ToQger movie and release an american Rainbow Liner. It would make sense if the rumors of the movie Megazord are true about it being bigger than the current megazords then they could use that price point for Lion Ha-Oh in year 2 of Ninja Steel and have the Rainbow Liner be the 2nd year 2 current price point megazord, and give it knees so it's compatible with Lion Ha-Oh.
|
While I doubt it’ll happen, the potential success of these might inspire Saban to adapt ToQger at some point, or at least incorporate elements of it into Ninja Steel.
What’s the significance behind these toys (if there’s any)? Are they promoting the upcoming film? |

Am I the only one who doesn't see any further meaning behind this then "cheap toys we can sell to toddlers"?

This thread is mostly making me realize just how offended we fans are about the now seemingly-regular practice of Power Rangers skipping Sentai seasons. Far as I can tell - I've only been at this for a couple of years - Sentai fans used to be able to look forward to Power Rangers adaptations, and now, it's more like (for those of you who enjoy both) people have to steel themselves to find out that yet another Sentai series will be skipped. It's probably a little worse still because Go-Busters and ToQger were series that Power Rangers could potentially have improved upon. Since one season of Sentai has lately equalled two seasons of Power Rangers, I wouldn't be surprised if they skipped Zyuohger due to its oddball mecha and roleplay toys.
|
My son is going to want these seeing how he likes both power rangers and Thomas ... I do agree it is a bizarre crossover but then again its aimed at real small children. Not sure any hardcore fans of Mighty Morphin will collect these or not.
|
....I would rather buy those marvel hero themed hot wheels.
They don't import ToQger yet they do this. Hah, hilarious. |
Kinda interesting, but an easy pass. Much like everything branded with Thomas, these will inevitably be more expensive than they should be.
Also, there is no way this is a test to see if bringong over ToQger would be viable, nor should this be seen as a slap to the face of those who were upset that Saban passed on that series in-favor of Ninninger. This is simply a cheap brand gimmick to try and keep the Thomas name relevant. Just like the DC comics themed trains they've done. |

This does lead me to realize that Thomas the Tank Engine is still super popular.
Why did they think Americans don't like trains? |

Plus, it's not necessarily that Americans don't like trains, but that not every concept in existence will work as an action toy property for young boys and girls.
Americans like fast food but I wouldn't make a series entirely about it. |

And in my personal experience they're kinda right. |
