The non-show Ride Armours are basically on the same level as the concept art forms for Zero-One. We probably won't get all of them (too many and probably not as appealing as the Ride Armours at least had fans of their respective Rider as a potential sale) but if some show up in Buttobasoul I could potentially see that.
A Quartzer Premium Bandai set would make sense. |
Yeah, again; Zero-One has so few actual suits that throwing the Zi-O leftovers into the normal waves just makes sense. I could see Aruto's Rushing Cheetah and Shooting Wolf forms in a later wave since they are in Buttobasoul, but I would much prefer that we get the rest of the Zi-O stuff at retail.

Have they made the default HumaGears yet? Cause I can see them doing those in the next set.
Cause Bandai loves army builders. |

Thanks to board member and all-around top-shelf person Fredbob392, I’m now a proud SO-DO owner. No longer will I feel like a fraud, participating in discussions on this thread. No! Now I am one of you, and here’s the proof: https://challengerscomics.com/images...o/builddg1.jpg This little two-pack, Build DoctorGame Form, is maybe not the first figure I’d’ve picked to start collecting SO-DO. It’s not a favorite form, I think it’s a videogame-only suit, I don’t have a deep connection to it, and I maybe thought it was RoseCopter until I went to put it together. But, honestly, I feel like that makes it the perfect figure to start with? There were really no expectations going into putting this little man together. If it didn’t pan out, I wasn’t heartbroken, I’d just have a janky plastic man I’d eventually forget in a drawer. A no-stress, low-cost figure was a smart, if accidental, move. I’m new to SO-DO, but I’ve done some figure building and stickering before. I’ve done the Build FigureRise, and a few of the Furai kits for Transformers. Snipping and plugging and stickering are all within my wheelhouse. https://challengerscomics.com/images...o/builddg2.jpg https://challengerscomics.com/images...o/builddg3.jpg https://challengerscomics.com/images...o/builddg4.jpg https://challengerscomics.com/images...o/builddg5.jpg There are only a few pieces to put together, and a small amount of stickers. I went from in-the-box to BEST MATCH in about fifteen minutes. The Game half took a couple minutes longer than the Doctor half, and I’m not sure why. There were maybe a couple more stickers, but it’s not like it was an obstacle. Maybe I was being more precise on applying them the second time? I had a brief screw-up on the Doctor half, trying to reposition a leg sticker and having it tear. I was a bit more delicate on the Game half, which maybe ate up some time. https://challengerscomics.com/images...o/builddg6.jpg Anyway, that’s the result. I’m pretty happy with it. It’s obviously never going to match the premium paint masking of a Figuarts, but those little stickers blend well enough, visually. I’m not crazy about some of the foil stickers being on molded detail, though, like on the Game arm’s controller. If there’s going to be a sticker there, like, please don’t put detail underneath. In retrospect, trying to get that goddamn sticker to stick is where I spent an extra two minutes. It just kept sliding around, getting minimal purchase. All the leg stickers, even the tiny ones, I feel good about them. They’re not the cleanest, what with mold gaps, but I like ‘em. I enjoyed building my little Build man. I’ve had a pleasant time doing the FigureRise/Furai kits, but my work schedule’s changed enough that I don’t have the hours at home it takes to put them together. I have probably a dozen kits across those two brands that I haven't been able to touch. It super sucks! These SO-DO guys, I feel like they could fill that gap while my schedule’s still zeroed out. I can spend fifteen minutes at the end of a day, or during a lunch break, stickering and combining until I’ve got a little man to show for it. Bite-sized customization and construction. It’s kind-of perfect for my life right now. Oh! I almost forgot! He’s an action figure, right? Maybe I should touch on that part? I’m not really an action figure guy, though. This little man is going to stay on his branded base in a default pose probably forever. If you need to play with your mans or pose them dynamically, uh… probably not the line for you. I had a dickens of a time getting ol’ Build to stand up without plugging him into his base, and any pose other than Just Standing There looked awkward. The legs have some decent movement to them, but I thought the arms were a little limited. No wrist swivel, only a 90-degree bend at the elbow, and no hand options. He looks good as a little statue, I’m a-okay with that, but it doesn’t feel like a design you’re going to be setting up cool dioramas with. I don’t know, maybe I’m doing it wrong. Mostly, I wanted these dudes to be easy to put together, enjoyable to sticker, a cool representation of a show design, and something I could have a whole line of without running out of display space or money. This little man ticked all those boxes for me. I’m anxiously awaiting my next few mans (MANDARAKE WHY YOU TAKE SO LONG), and I really want to see what y’all have got for SO-DOs. This line is pretty neat! Thanks for your help getting into it! https://challengerscomics.com/images...o/builddg7.jpg https://challengerscomics.com/images...o/builddg8.jpg https://challengerscomics.com/images...o/builddg9.jpg P.s. can i still eat this candy |
Great overview! Glad you like him, curious that he doesn't have wrist swivels. Guess that's only a recent addition?
|
You can still eat the candy! Wouldn't recommend it, but you can!

https://challengerscomics.com/images...uildtvkun2.png Also, from the Wiki: "Release Date: 26th February 2018" That was a two year-old piece of Japanese candy. That I just ate. Um. |
Glad you're enjoying the figure! Loved the review! The figures Zi-O onwards include wrist swivel, and that little bit of extra articulation makes a big difference I've found. Those little sugar tablets rocked. I miss them, I was a little addicted to those. The gum they come with nowadays is horrible. Hopefully eating that doesn't kill you, would be a shame if you died just as you started to experience the glory of So-Do

Us after seeing Kamen Rider Die's SO-DO purchase post: Phase 1 is complete. Bring in the SHODO Kamen Riders and then a dose of Figuarts and Medicom RAHs. *maniacal villain laughter ensues and turns into Shadow Moon*

Yeah, I... I feel like I have to keep my demands for what So-DOs are capable of, that needs to be tempered. They're a complete figure that retails for less than 1000y? For that price, I think what's delivered is pretty excellent. Just a delightful little package that, like the candy inside, loses flavor just quick enough to make you want another. I think I'm just really into little figures right now. I'm doing the Legends-class third-party Transformers from Magic Square and New Age, and I definitely spend more time with those cheap(er) little guys than I do high-end collectibles. I'm sure I've spent more time playing with this Build fig than I have the few Figuarts I own. It just feels, like.. approachable? The scale, the price point, it all invites a more "get in there and mess around" attitude than a Figuarts, which should be handled responsibly. These little mans, who cares? They're toys, have fun with 'em. Also, thanks again for helping me get my first SO-DO, even if the candy was close to becoming poison! +5 Rider Points, and Soichi Isurugi salutes your generosity while respecting your ulterior motive of trying to destroy someone. Please adjust your TokuNation Scorecard accordingly. Quote:

One of my favorite things about Kamen Rider is the multi-tier merchandise. Do you like really high end collectibles with soft goods? We've got those. Want something show/movie accurate, but don't have $200-$350 to spend on a single figure? We've got those. Want model kits? Got'em. Transformable toys with light and sound? Got'em.
That coupled with the fact that from candy toy to RAH, they are all quality collectibles, the merch is one of the major aspects to the series. |

I absolutely agree. I wish my other favorite series as of the last few years, Steven Universe, actually had figures of the characters. I'd kill for good plastic representation of the Gems.
Got AI03 stickered up today. The Zero-One So-Do like has been fantastic so far. They come with so much more paint than they did back in Build, and the alt hands rock too. As usual, sorry for the horrible cell phone pic. https://66.media.tumblr.com/592c53a7...e91f8e9504.jpg I'm tempted to go back and collect the two Ride Plus waves from Zi-O, I wasn't a fan of the Zi-O Rider aesthetic, but other than Quiz, I loved the look of the future Riders and the Decade Riders. I'm still missing a few figures and parts from Build too, where the case didn't come with enough duplicates. I need:
If anyone has any of these spare, I'd be interested in buying them. Would be nice to have the collection 100% complete. |

Problem with Mandarake is new stuff tends to go up after I've already gone to bed, and be sold out by morning. I was able to get Build RabbitDragon from there by stalking the website every night for a couple weeks after the wave was released in Japan, but I kept missing Killbus whenever he went up. Other problem is even if I set an alert so I get an email as soon as it comes in stock, I'm paying 1500 yen in shipping for an 800 yen toy unless I find something else I want that's coming from the same store that's also in stock. It's definitely doable, I've done it before, but buying from a board member would definitely be easier

God I need to catch up but money.

And just yesterday, I got AI04

Man, why did you all have to show off those awesome Zero-One figs?! I haven't watched the show yet, probably won't get around to it for a year or so, but now I'm looking real hard at those sets. Amazon Japan has AI 01 and 04 for about $75 together with shipping, and they'd show up next week. I'm really thinking about it. Like, I'm going to watch Zero-One eventually, which means I'll want these figs eventually, so why not grab 'em cheap now?
I don't know. It sounds like they're really good? It doesn't seem like SO-DO mass-retail sets ever get too hard to find, so maybe it's not worth rushing to get them? I don't know! I'm pretty sure I'm going to order them, but: thoughts? Something I'm not considering? |
Those prices aren't too bad, you don't get the discount you could get from Amiami, but it's still fair retail price. I believe Ex-Aid So-Do could get pretty hard to find after it's initial release, but Build and Zi-O stuff still seems pretty easy to get, so you're probably fine to wait. They're great looking suits though, I'm over 10 episodes behind on Zero-One but I'm still staying up to date on So-Do because I adore the suit aesthetic.
Also, AI01 is on Mandarake for just 2500 yen |

I ended up ordering those two sets from Amazon Japan, instead of Mandarake, because the case of SO-DO figs I ordered two+ weeks ago from Mandarake still hasn't shown up, and I'd feel better placing a new order with someone else. Nothing against Mandarake, really, but I'm mostly making a new purchase because the Mandarake stuff hasn't shown up yet and I'm getting that itch, and placing another order with Mandarake that could take weeks to arrive feels like salt in the wound. At least with Amazon, that stuff'll be here by the end of next week. I need more tiny mans! I need 'em! |

Hey, but, AmiAmi. Real bad site for a dude who's got a hankering for tiny mans, what with the ease of preordering (sight unseen!) sets of tiny mans. How's the experience been with AmiAmi for preorders and the like? Reliable? Fast to get orders packed and shipped? No problems or anything? I feel like I'll get on Mandarake soon and do a mop up for older figs, once I've gotten these in-transit cases opened up and displayed, but AmiAmi looks like a solid site for new releases. Is that the right read? |

Metal Cluster looks fantastic, quite a lot of paint!

Hi everyone! I'm a new user here and big fan of the SO-DO line. I'm glad I found a place to talk about them.
As a model kit builder, I like that SO-DO are like quick tiny plastic model kits with sprues. I like to paint and detail them. Here's some I've done: https://i.imgur.com/UIal4rn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/J92y5fu.jpg Cheers! |
