Power Rangers 25th Anniversary Episode Details Revealed
Airing Tuesday, August 28th at 8PM-
DIMENSIONS IN DANGER In a very special 25th Anniversary episode, the Super Ninja Steel Rangers team up with Legendary Rangers in an epic battle to save the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHBWZmFgpzw |
This looks really hype! I can't for the 25th anniversary episodes and how the rest of the series pans out!
|
Morphin Legacy has more on this subject!
There will be a lot to discuss! There will also be a lot to fume over if things aren't done correctly, and there is a risk of that happening! http://www.morphinlegacy.com/2018/08...-revealed.html |

Multiverse is a growing concept that's going to become more apparent later. Though the main universe is still going to have heavy connections to various series too. Like the original 7 seasons and Dinothunder. Some others are a little more scattered. Some seasons vary, but the original 7 are all connected as is dinothunder. The rest vary more. Like Mystic Force(magic world has access to the multiverse, Travelion can travel it and other dimensions) and Jungle Fury might be different universes too. Lightspeed potentially. RPM definitely. Samurai is connected to original though. So it's not an all seasons things, but lots of them. And some might have alternate versions of themselves because of multiverse theory. Which is how the comics will likely be folded in too. |

Wow that looks grate. Looks like super ninja steel is going to get WAY better.

Personally, I never really enjoyed the idea of the franchise under the Multiverse banner!
Continuity errors are merely something to be explained or ret-conned if need be! There are definitely things that still need to be answered (which won't be in "Dimensions in Danger"), but that is for BOOM! and Hasbro to hash-out at this stage! While there are definitely alternate dimensions with their own Teams, and there are moments where that is appropriate, I'm not certain if that was the best answer! In the early days, what set P.R. different from Sentai was the idea that everything happened together and nothing was removed from what came before! Now, P.R. and Sentai are basically a study in the Multiverse Theory, and basically doing what EVERY SCI-FI/COMIC FRANCHISE IS DOING TO NO END!!!!!! Marvel and Spider-Man have their Multiverse, Star Trek has a Multiverse, Transformers has a Multiverse, and even Star Wars if you consider the "Expanded Universe/Legends" Stories a separate Universe! This feels like a cheap hand wave-style ret-con to answer 25 yrs. of inconsistent continuity! That said, the episode itself may at least TRY to make it interesting! Anniversary Episodes are always good discussion material, whether they're excellent or average or horrendous! P.S. - Where the Multiverse Theory kinda works: http://www.morphinlegacy.com/power-r...-of-the-z-wave - Where the Multiverse Theory runs the risk of confusing people: http://www.morphinlegacy.com/power-r...the-crossovers |
My brain, as soon as it hears the word "multiverse": So we know, because of Forever Red and Once a Ranger that the first 15 series (MMPR to OO) take place in the same reality, and RPM has to be seperate. Super Megaforce probably brings Samurai and Megaforce into the same continuity, given the presence of Casey et al. DC is probably seperate, because they screwed up and got their Earth sucked into a Black Hole. There's also the parallel reality where the original MMPR movie exists, as well as the MMPR 2017 movie. Masked Rider is simultaneously within the "main" reality, and also a TV show in Time Force.
Basically, I'm waiting to see where they go with this. I'm sure, no matter what happens, we can handwave it away due to Time Travel. |
I hated when RPM was put in a separate universe bubble, and I hate this now.

Dino Charge and RPM are considered separate Universes! The Original MMPR Movie and the 2017 Movie are left in limbo (thus far not even shown in "Shattered Grid")! Of note, if the 2017 Movie is in "Multiverse Continuity", then does that ret-con the Amy and JDF cameos into "Dimension-Hopping Tommy and Kimberly"!?!? Jungle Fury and RPM might be similar as they both have "Jungle Karma Pizza", and Overdrive may or may not be part of RPM since Tenya held what looked like an Overdrive Red Helmet (though that might not actually mean anything)! DC is likely separate, and Masked Rider only pertains to "A Friend in Need" because there are differences between that and the start of his own show! Samurai and Megaforce are together alongside MMPR at least, especially with Bulk and Skull in Samurai! The rest of the franchise is splintered between fans and their interpretation of "Singular Continuity with Dimensional Exceptions" or "Multiverse" and up for grabs! Shattered Grid and "Dimensions in Danger" will effectively make things a Multiverse free-for-all, for better or worse! |
I Hope Tommy & Kat are married.

Though there are timelines where nearly all is connected, there are also 'slightly different' alternate versions too. Makes it easier to create a consistent ranger timeline of all where some new events and history can be slotted in. Especially since SPD didn't set itself far enough in the future. SPD tv version is effectively an alternate reality now where tech developments changed after LG and LSR at roughly about Dinothunder or after Operation Overdrive. New Movie universe on the other hand is an entirely new Multiverse/continuity family. Quote:
New Movie is part of an entirely different multiverse not connected to TV/comic. Those cameos are only that universe doppelgangers/alternate selves. So movie won't cross over to comic/TV main. |

This is fine, makes sense and opens up creative freedom without a bunch of continuity baggage to drag around. They haven't taken advantage of being set in the same universe in any meaningful way since the mid-90s so it was something that should have happened much earlier.
|
I'm fine with the concept of a multiverse. It explains why some ranger teams just disappear once their series ends but they don't lose their powers. It can now be explained as "They're still active, but we're just not in their world anymore."
Also explains how the world isn't privy to what Power Rangers are, despite a shared universe making it seem like they'd be pretty widely known by this point. |
Honestly, we all knew something like this was coming. The Sentai model (seperate world unless otherwise stated) has been going since Lightspeed Rescue at the earliest, and while it's annoying as fans when we've put effort into reconciling everything into one continuity, it's just not feasible creatively. Sure, I like the idea of everything working in one 'verse, but apparently the studios don't, and that's what matters.
|
I'm somewhat worried since it's just 1 episode it'll be extremely rushed. Yeah, Forever Red was one episode, but you can tell it would have benefited more as a 2-parter. Also because Forever Red was written well. Ninja Steel isn't exactly written well.

How come no one has mentioned what in the hell is lord drayvon. Is that a misspelled drakkon or someone new altogether. If it's tied to shattered grid, let it be known, I've been thinking that for months now. I think I asked that question to trekkieb47 on rcph a few times and I believe I also asked shuki and Chris on Geek each week. I'm soooooo hyped for this episode and shattered grid, and all of it is happening around my birthday (22) and I'm the happiest man-child because of it.

There is apparently a toy listing for "Evil Red Ranger", which was from the Ninninger VS. ToQger Movie: (https://www.grnrngr.com/toys/power-r...er-ninja-steel)! If there is an "Evil Red Ranger", then there might also be a use for Dark Doctor Mavro from that same Movie: (https://www.grnrngr.com/monsters/mon...nger-vs-toqger)! I can't say with any certainty, though! The earlier Teaser of the Ninninger Movie Villain could be legitimate, intentional misdirection, or an idea that was planned for and intended but failed to materialize for some such reason(s)! |

TBH I'm a little disappointed. I'd hoped this would be atleast an hour long since it's airing in Prime Time and only feature and focus on the initially shown returning Rangers. Instead this is sounding more like another rushed Legendary Battle.

Wow even better trailer. I Like that we got a real good look at some more.
Has it been said yet if Tommy & Kat are married? |

It's about the same as the similar transformers mobile games in that regard. Think of it like promotional comics, or other "tie-in" promo material that is never actually included in mainline continuity. Quote:
Something like what you'd like to see isn't quite possible yet, but concepts are allegedly being thrown around to see about it. Do keep in mind, everything we're seeing right now was still mostly made during the Saban era. Hasbro full impact of ownership won't be seen until next series using pre-existing footage and even more pronounced in the series after using pre-existing footage still, and then fully the one after that(which is when any Toei ordered new footage can start to show up and it could impact the Sentai side of things). So much of this was what was preplanned last year and worked out with Toei previously on movie footage etc. But something like what you're saying you want is potentially in the works for later at a different anniversary and how that's going to be approached. But that's going to take time to get together and get all the timing lined up on production cycles. Hasbro's official involvement in helping the Sentai side of things which reflects into the PR side of things won't happen until either the series after Lupin vs Pato, or the series after that depending on how far along the concepts for the next one have been underway. To explain easier: Beast morphers is Go-Buster, using that footage. (2 years. Using much of what Saban had already planned for it. Though it may be condensed down to one too. Unclear as yet.) Series after, is also an already existing sentai. (2 years. Likely Kyu. It will be the first full original Hasbro era story but will likely have heavy lore usage.) Series after that, potentially has yet to be made by Toei. Toq and Lupin vs Pato footage does want to be used, but is also up for debate if it could hold down a full series/2 seasons with some of the suit designs. Not sure what's being decided there or for when and how. They do want to introduce the suits. It's more towards whether or not the suits could sustain a 2 season approach or not, or if they'd have to look into them as other side additions like what season 3 MMPR did as a secondary team that helps that team during a crisis or as an upgrade or other story device that makes them temporary additions. They also might streamline down to 1 show per year again, instead of the 2 per show pattern. Might depend on content of Sentai used too. Like Toq would be condensed to one year, same to Lupin Vs Pato. Kyu might be so merchandise heavy it's pushed to 2 though. Quote:

Has it been officially said that each series is its own universe? It could just be referring to RPM and Dino Charge being separate from the main universe, especially since Wes recognizes Tommy.

I'm pretty upset they're using the generic villain from the Ninninger movie as the main bad guy. You could at least get someone interesting like Dr. Mavro

I do believe that Dr. Mavro would be more technical and geared to such a project, but he may yet appear (and the background can always be ret-conned if absolutely necessary)! I am definitely intrigued by that trailer and I hope that this will do what "Legendary Battle" could not! I held out hope for that episode, and while it had its good points, it didn't go near where it should! This gives me hope that something will occur and will be worth the discussion that follows! "Forever Red" has driven some people to extremes in terms of nitpicking, and "Once A Ranger" was only different by so much, but this feels like it will add to the mythos in a way that no other has! I'll admit that it feels like "Shattered Grid" in a microcosm, but I stand by it because it ISN'T "SHATTERED GRID", and must be viewed individually before it can be weighed against the whole! I look forward to August 28th, and I will plan everything accordingly! P.S.: Since they are using Ninninger Movie Villain, then let's hope they use Ninninger Movie footage, cause Dinomaru fits with MMPR/Zyuranger and would be exquisite in terms of appropriate dinosaur-themed comparisons and appropriations! |

Someone posted this on a new thread so I thought I'd share the link here. It's a sneak peek clip of the 25th anniversary episode! |
Did they change the name to "Ranger Danger", replacing the presumed original name "Dimensions in Danger"?

Anyone else notice that Tommy is using his new “I can uses any former power I want” morpher in this pic? |
