Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Episode 42: "God's Advent!" Discussion
The final boss, GEMDEUS, has appeared at last. In his wake comes a powerful new wave of the Game Virus, infecting dozens of people. All Riders must unite in order to stop him...
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 5:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
Unstuck for a moment

Interesting fight between Lazer and Genm to obtain anti Gemdeus virus....
Hmm...so Doctor Mighty XX Gashat used just for neutralized Gemdeus virus... Yeah....Gemdeus virus was neutralized by our heroes but Gemdeus killed by Cronus and Cronus obtain Gemdeus's power..... Yeah....Cronus become last villain but I more prefer if they make Gemdeus as last villain..... |

the cronus of next week use gamer driver, and the gashat slot holder on his waist has Jet Combat on it. pretty obvious imo. And no, not Nico.

Just...seriously, guys? Cronus was intended as the final form for Ride-Players, and has absolutely nothing to do with Snipe or Taiga. It sucks for both characters honestly, I'd rather just see Snipe get no final form than use a completely unrelated separate rider as one. Sometimes I wonder if Bandai has an actual rule that the writers aren't allowed to do anything really meaningful with female riders. Oh well, the new form for Masamune is still kickass at least. |
Snipe as Cronus? I guess you could call him... Kamen Rider Chrono Trigger.
You've been a great crowd. I'll be here all week. |

I'm bummed that Nico isn't Cronus but hey Taiga being Cronus is even better, what better Hero against the Bugster Virus than the guy who says he should be the only Kamen Rider. Plus hey, Taiga gets a super powerful form too! Temporary more than likely but this is kinda cool. |
Miyu Sawai aka live-action Sailor Moon 2003 who was last seen in Kamen Rider Wizard, has made a guest appearance in this episode as a mother of a patient.
|
Kiriya you beautiful bastard. Giving Dan the Man to the authorities like a baller
|
Any1 notice lately in the last few Rider series.........Live Action Sailor Moon's actress always has to make a cameo appearance of some sort.
Toei needs to quit teasing and hire her back as a recurring side-character in a toku show........especially Kamen Rider |

I'm thinking there's a strong possibility Nico becomes Snipe. They pretty much foreshadowed her becoming an official member of CR, and Snipe was THE rider for CR until Ex-Aid and Brave came along. With Taiga leaving his past at CR behind (which is why he's presumably dropping his role as Kamen Rider Snipe), and Nico potentially stepping in and becoming his successor, it makes sense that she would also become Kamen Rider Snipe.
If she doesn't become Snipe by next episode, I'm definitely thinking she'll become Snipe during the epilogue where Build gets introduced, similar to Jounouchi becoming Kurokage. I also think it makes perfect thematic sense for Taiga to become Cronus. Emu and Hiiro were both doctors first, Kamen Riders second. Taiga, on the other hand, was fully committed to being a Rider and now with him completely discarding his past as a doctor, he's basically a Rider full-time now. Makes sense that he would assume the identity of the Rider who was literally designed to put an end to everything. |
Also, there's something great to be said about the fact that we have Bike Gamer....wearing a bike....while riding another bike.

This episode is somewhat surprise to me...
this episode is surprisingly all about kiriya and kuruto but mainly about kiriya which is somewhat weird and works to me because this is very end game Ex-aid still manages character development, it works because it advanced the plot even thought Toei shove premium bandai item :D Even though its same gemdeus just gone after one episode but few scene with him i feel its power maybe they showcase the gemdus power for the movie i guess.. If this episode follow kiriya judging from the preview next episode is about taiga it seems... Damn now i wish that episode 45 is not build crossover |

The more I see the more I believe True Ending either isn't an alternate ending, we haven't hit the split yet, or both. In True Ending's trailers: - Riders present standing together are Ex-Aid, Brave, Snipe, Genm, Para-DX, and Lazer Turbo. I'm mainly only noting this because Para-DX wasn't an alley when this clip was first shown. - Lazer has a doctor's coat in the movie. He did not get that until this episode. -Reset was introduced in episode 40, right after Para-DX joined Ex-Aid and as the promotions for the move started to gear up and reveal more about the story of the movie. Many believe this is the splitting point, but the only thing to change before this point is Para-DX's alliances. There are many loose plot threads True Ending would need to address. -Graphite is no where to be found in these trailers. If the Reset was the split point, then he would be alive and a loose plot thread the movie doesn't really have time for. - Some trailers mention that Gemn only has one life left. At the end of this episode, Genm has 4 lives left. After the Reset he had about 70-80 lives (can't remember the exact number, might've been all of them came back). That doesn't add up unless the first 15 minutes of the movie is killing him a bunch (and again, time). - The newest trailer says that with the final episode "The meaning of True Ending will be revealed." That seems odd to say if the final episode doesn't set up the movie. Here's my theory: The end of the show will have a Reset and lead into True Ending. This Reset will undo only the final episode. This makes the current episodes, the end of the show, and the movie all important. |

As far as we know, no one except Masamune knows of Johnny Maxima and its clear that Johnny is setting up the events of True Ending while the main story is going on. With how many episodes the series has left and with one or two being a Build crossover, I doubt that they could cram in the Johnny Maxima sub-plot into the series right now, so True Ending will explore this. This could clear the debates about whether True Ending is an alternate ending or not. |
Yeah, it's been confirmed that the True Ending is A: canon, and B: set a year after the events of the show. I believe one of the cast members corroborated Miura's statement on Twitter, or something.
It boggles my mind to see that Western fans are still finding it hard to accept that the film is canon, when fans in Japan have no such hang ups. |

That being said, True Ending makes sense now, a lot of sense, Gemdeus is advertised as the big bad guy they have to beat in that movie, so why should the Gemdeus in this series last more than an episode, why should he be more than just a tease? It also explains why they constantly keep coming up with ways for Masamune to stay relevant. And finally True Ending doesn't necessarily mean Good Ending like I know a lot of people were saying on my Twitter. If they wanted to say something like that they would say, Ending B or Good End, instead True Ending. Which I'm amazed I didn't think about till now, is basically the extended secret ending you get for doing something or paying. In this case, think of Asura's Wrath and how it's actual True Ending was locked behind DLC. |
oh goodie. A last-minute toy...the Kiriya/Kuroto sound in that gashat is awesome!
and Taiga becomes the next Cronus. I wonder how they gonna beat Masamune. Looks like main trio seems to have a bit of trouble. |

Episode was great. I loved how Kiriya and Kuroto worked together. Next week will be interesting with Taiga. Does this mean he's the true Cronus since he's good? Is this Toei's cheap excuse for an upgrade from Snipe's Lv. 50?

I'm not ready for Ex-Aid to end... :(

Who know if Taiga as Cronus has hidden ability via Critical Strike slot.... |

Hmm...in episode 43, two Kamen Rider Chronicle Gashat used by Taiga in his Gamer Driver. Since Taiga as Cronus using Gamer Driver, I think he can use other Gashat and access other form. Example: Cronus Combat Chronicle Gamer, Cronus Sport Chronicle Gamer, Cronus Robot Chronicle Gamer, etc.. |

But for me, my hangups are the following. 1. Consistent with the above, I don't think "True Ending" at necessarily means cannon in the Westerns sense. I'm can't think of it for sure, but I'm pretty sure Japanese stuff has been called that while being not in continuity with the original ending. 2. I REALLY hate the idea of them just stopping the series without having the ending in series. It seems wrong to me. The latest news seems to indicate that "True Ending" really means "Epilogue" here and that it will merely wrap up some thing from the series rather than leave it hanging, but I assumed that if it was the only ending, that meant the series would have to just stop without resolving anything. 3. Precedent. They have never had a movie to finish the main storyline before except for Decade. And Decade did indeed just stop without resolving anything. So I had every reason to believe that it would be one of those two things. But I'm totally cool with a big epilogue to wrap things up. |

Recent episode listings show that the TV series does have an ending (a final confrontation with Gamedeus Chronus) in Episode 45, but that there are loose ends - loose ends that become plot points in the movie (one such loose end being Johnny Maxima having the Gashacon BugVisor and a sample of the Gamedeus Virus). The inconsistencies are also being slowly whittled away (Kiriya's white coat, Dan being called 'Kami', and being imprisoned), and if you check, several Japanese Toku sites are keeping track of this 'countdown' - including the Toei pages for each episode. So... Yes, it's 100% canon, whether you like it or not - like W's, Gaim's, Drive's, and Ghost's (it just chooses to take place after the series, rather than during); but at the same time, the series doesn't end on a cliffhanger, it does have its own ending that serves as both a conclusion to the TV series, and a lead-in to the film. Think of it like this. The TV series is the main game, and Emu and co. fulfilled the criteria to access the True Ending, so they get an extra 'Final Final Level' after the contemporary final level. ...So while I wouldn't say 'just an epilogue'...that is the easiest way to categorize it, yes. |

Good episode, Gamedeus wasn't special but hopefully the movie has a better fight with him

Have I mentioned how much I love Kiriya's character?

一年ってこんな早いか~ :cry So this episode was stellar and I'll talk about it right after this but man, Ex-Aid is like, ending, isn't it? I know everyone (who's cool) is already sad about that but dang, it didn't actually *hit* me until this episode. At least Build looks cool: - Fun fact: For the past couple weeks I've been holding off on whining about Kiriya no longer having a meaningful role in the show specifically because I figured there'd turn out to be a reason he's back besides being general comic relief when Shin-chan is already around. Glad to be right. He shined here in a way he hasn't for a long time. - Also screw you 新ちゃん I'm never calling you 神ちゃん ya' creep. - I mean come on, while you're off constantly doing weird interpretative dance moves accompanied by repetitive guitar noises, your dad is finding ways to still actually be a threatening(ish) villain somehow. - We've still got 3 episodes, a movie, and another movie to ruin this but I was quite impressed they didn't feel the need to have Gamedeus smack Muteki Ex-Aid around when being unbeatable is right in his name. Instead they just had the fight be a stalemate until Kiriya rides up, which makes way more sense. |

...So no, you could have been clearer. I do apologize if I offended you in any way, though. The main reason I responded at all was the bit in the middle that started with 'it'd annoy me if they did that', when...why would that matter? If they do it, its done, and no amount of 'but it pisses me off' will change it. I realize that that was little more than a footnote to your overall point, but I've seen far too many people lately claiming still that it isn't canon...even though it explicitly is (a few months ago yeah, it was still highly ambiguous, but that is no longer the case) for mostly that reason, so I may have been a little shorter in my response than I meant to be, and if that was the case, I apologize most profoundly. |
