Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger Brave 01 and 02
I haven't been able to find an existing thread on these episodes, so I thought I'd make one. TVN has subbed both Kyoryuger Brave and Power Rangers Dino Force Brave.
Wow, the half-length episode format doesn't serve this show well. Rather than working like a two-parter, both episodes try to tell a complete story, and it's just a mess. I'm hoping that, like Kyoryuger, it gets better over time. I... don't like the cast, I think, although I'm having trouble separating what I don't like about the physical acting (I'm leaving out intonation since it's subbed) from the overly-broad characterization. I realize the short episode length inherently means we weren't going to get a whole lot of character depth, but most of the core five are obnoxious. So mixed with my disappointment over the Brave Kyoryugers is my joy over getting Ulshade's screeching voiceover back, as well as the voices for Torin, Luckyero, and Candelira. I enjoyed the fight sequences. I loved the recurring music cues and the remixed ones. Now that we're through the rushed and in-no-way-organic introduction of the core team and villains, I'm hoping that, like Kyoryuger did, this show will quickly jettison what doesn't work in favor of the things that do. What did the rest of you think? |
Which would be the better viewing experience? Dino Force Brave or Kyoryuger Brave?

It's actually quite faithful to the original Japanese counterpart in terms of music and transformations after all is a "sequel" to it. I'm not a fan of the white repaints and zords being switch around. The kyoryujin western is pilot by pink now because her Zord is given to blue.

you think 1 and 2 are bad, wait 'till 3 and 4 they absolutely succ
episodes 5 and 6 are improvements, but the best part of the show is still the cgi robot fights |
I finally took the time to catch up on this, I'm at ep. 6 out of 12 now, and yeah this is kind of weird, especially the Korean version.
The running time of an episode is barely 15mn, so with the usual sentai formula crammed into this timelapse, everything feels more rushed than it is already in Toei sentai. And it's just 12 episodes ! (but the sooner it's finished the better, if it keeps being average). At least, it's interesting to see Sentai handled in a different way. I can't really talk about the actors as I don't know a thing about korean langage, but Dino Black seems more in "large ham" championship than the others. Torin is underused, what a shame... The redesign is poor, I don't like the black stripes pattern on the weapons and mechs, and the monsters suits look cheaper. |
