I still feel most FRS are too big for most Figuarts. Some of them CAN work, but they are noticeabley bigger.

Wow, thank you all for your insights! I knew you'd help me figure this out.
I'm glad to hear that the Seihous from five or six years ago have held up. As someone who predominantly collects Transformers, and has for the last decade, talking about a figure from five or six years back is almost like talking about something from prehistory. In the sixteen years that the brand has been producing Masterpiece figures, they've done three different iterations of Optimus Prime, and the seven-year gaps between them are an almost unfathomable chasm. It is like comparing a SO-DO to a RAH. So, in my head, that's what I was expecting from Seihou engineering. I'm maybe a little glad that's not the case? As cool as it would be to see constant improvements, I do appreciate that a $100+ investment won't be invalidated in the next calendar year by something better, more accurate, etc. It's nice to think what I'll own isn't a placeholder, you know? As for budgeting and aftermarket prices... I looked around at a few different sites I've ordered from in the past, and Jungle seemed to have the best selection. Most of the figures I'm looking for are in the 12K-17K yen range, which doesn't seem too laughable to me. My list of figures to get is only seven or eight, and I'd do one every month or two, so it's not out of my budget. (That said, where are people finding decent deals on Seihous? eBay? I've checked Mandarake a few times and I've never seen anything priced at a lower-than-normal amount. Like, their Hibiki is 21K.) As a semi-finite list of desired toys, I'm okay with them being at that price. Anyway, thanks for helping me understand these figures better. TokuNation has the best fans! |
ami ami also has Seihous from time to time, great condition and the grouped shipping at the end of the month helps alot. I'm not sure which ones you are still looking for but I'm sure eventually they would have most of them. I found a lot of from my list in the span of two months.
As for Seihou Decade, Neo-Decadriver is significantly cheaper, maybe about half as much as the original. Beside the different driver of course, the other differences is the original release comes with an extra Evil Decade head from the movie, and Neo-Decadriver has the cards of all the 20 Heisei riders. SHF Upgrade used to sell a replaceable white Decadriver, but I think it's sold out on their site. You could always ask if they have plans for it in the future, or try on Ebay? Even if you get that extra driver it probably might be less than getting the original release. Just some thoughts |

The Decade with Neo-Decadriver is significantly cheaper than the original, but that pink driver (which I actually prefer to the white one!) would always look wrong to me in a lineup of TV Series Riders. I wish it wouldn't! I wish my brain would be okay with that small, more aesthetically pleasing difference! But I know it won't. (Shiny Mighty Kuuga is sort of in the same boat, but maybe I could ignore that. Tough call!) Thanks for the tips, and the idea to look into SHF Upgrade! I'll give that a shot. (I mean, I'd really love to have both Decadrivers, if possible.) |

As for stores, I almost always use Mandarake and Jungle, both are roughly equal. In my experiences their prices are also more or less the same, depending on the condition of the item. Between the two of them, you're likely to find what you're looking for without too much trouble. I doubt you'll find better deals anywhere else, and the exchange rate when ordering from Japanese sites can sometimes basically function as a discount, at least for USD. In my experience the exchange rate almost always favors the dollar, and while it's usually not a huge difference, it can still save a little bit of money. |
Fantastic, just a heads up ami ami updates their used page everyday except Sundays. So if there's something you really want, maybe its best to jump on it quickly?
What other pieces are on your list if you don't mind sharing? Happy Hunting |
I use AmiAmi exclusively. Jungle doesn't do DHL which is my only option for shipping right now, and I was banned from Mandarake for too many cancellations (Excuuuse me for getting caught in a category 4 hurricane...).
I got my Kabuto and Agito for a great deal off Facebook, but that is EXTREMELY rare. Kuuga I got for a good deal off RangerBoard. I've seen Kuuga pop up for around 9,500 before on AmiAmi if you can catch it. Quote:
One day I'll get you, SS Joker... |

And, yeah, the yen to USD exchange rate can be a nice bonus. I remember the feeling of disappointment a few years ago, as the yen strengthened and I saw my HLJ discount reduce. Nice when it happens, sucks when it doesn't. Quote:
(Oh, and thanks for the SHF Upgrade tip on the Decadriver. Someone on eBay is selling what looks like the same thing for $45, which combined with the Neo Seihou is still less than getting the original by, like, 3K yen.) The main figures I'm looking to get are from series I've already finished, since I can open and display them immediately. (I can't have a trophy up if I haven't earned it!) Those are Kuuga, Agito, Hibiki, and Double. Then there are the figures I'll need in the future, like Kabuto, Kiva, and Decade. Eventually I'll need a Zi-O and a Zero-One, but that's down the line and probably just regular SHFs. (Also JFC Bandai, Seihou Fourze, please and thank you.) Quote:

The latest episode kinda makes me iffy in getting Espada now lmao. I'd be seriously burned if it's another Flying Falcon - > Burning Falcon thing.
Unless it isn't and/or someone else is Espada. |
What's up with Buster though ? He was the third rider we see in the show and even got a whole 2 parter. Very surprised he wasn't shown at Tamashii
|

And I really hope SHF Buster has his dad bod unlike his skinny RKF version. |
Espada is also the *actual* third rider rather than Buster.
|
I know, I know. Just thought he would have a large presence since we saw the character so early.
Buster was probably the only other figure I was going to get, but then I saw those Saber and Blade upgrades ... |
Maybe this should go in the show forums, but I feel like Buster was less an introduction to him specifically (though it was definitely that as well), as much as it was an introduction to the wider world of the Sword of Logos Riders. Sure, we've seen Blades; Saber's mentor who uses a very similar system to him, so here's someone who uses something completely different, isn't in that role at all and kinda hates Touma at first sight. At least for me it felt more like his introduction was about how this new magical world relates to Touma rather than it was about Ogami himself.

With TaMaShii Combo getting a Seihou and SaRaMiuo Combo getting a SO-DO... is it weird that I want a figure of LoveLoveLove Combo? Because I do.

So, apparently there was 2ch leak that said SHF Espada goes on pre-order on December 2. Hopefully retail, but I won't get my hopes up.
Edit: Looking at 2CH to see if I can find the supposed leak. |
When this month are Z and Geed meant to release?

So unless Espada is a surprise reveal tomorrow I think the leak was fake. |
Out of curiosity how do leaks that are legit get leaked anyways? Is the leaker someone who works at the company or something?
|

Depending on the size of the company and the amount of retail partners they have, there are a lot of potential leakers. If products have to be offered in stores, someone has to be told about them.
Like, we carry Transformers toys at my store, and a month or so ago we got a call from a rep so we could place orders for, basically, Hasbro's entire 2021 product line. Transformers, Marvel Legends, whatever. I did the Transformers order (my business partner did the Marvel stuff) and it was twenty minutes of finding out what every Kingdom wave would have in it. If I wanted to, I could've leaked that. I don't, because I don't want to burn our distributor, but that's how a leak could've occurred. (Similarly, a few Walmart employees spoiled a bunch of Kingdom stuff from the data in Walmart's system.) That's one way, through stores and distributors. Someone at Bandai calls or emails a store and says Hey We Need Your Numbers For The SHF Kamen Rider Confidential That's Coming Out and then that store employee goes on the boards to say that Kamen Rider Confidential is getting a Figuarts. There's also people working at a company in a sales department, an art department, licensing, manufacturing, etc. The more people involved in producing something, the more likely one of them wants to brag about what they know online. Or folks just make it up, which is how you get incorrect leaks. |
Oh wow, if we are getting Kamen Rider Confidential next year, how long do you think until we see his final form, Kamen Rider [Redacted]?
:p |

S.H. Figuarts Jugglus Juggler
He comes with the Z riser. |
He does indeed -- as well his own Dark Z-Riser! May release; 7150 Yen! Glad to see this re-issued

Surprisingly, it's not the only SHF Ultraman announcement tonight -- Ultraman Taiga Special Clear Ver. is here! Taiga done up completely in translucent plastic to imitate his appearance when talking to Hiroyuki. Comes with an alternate red colour timer, is Premium Bandai on a first-come first-serve basis from December 4th; and surprisingly, is 3520 Yen!

More images of Juggler and it shows they REALLY improved on him. I always thought the original looked a little too flat and bright; so this new wash (and what they did with his eyes) is perfection!

Well, I was going to need a Zero-One eventually, and Complex also has the Prime Rogue SO-DO I wanted, so... thanks for the heads-up, Kurona!
