Megabloks Claw Armor Megazord
10 Attachment(s)
Tokunation continues it's look back at Power Rangers Samurai with a gallery of the Claw Armor Megazord Megablok set. Samurai's debut in 2011 not only marked the return of our colorful heroes to television, but the re-introduction of the Megabloks Power Rangers line. At 284 pieces, one of the larger sets under the revitalized banner is the Claw Armor Megazord with an exclusive Shogun Red Ranger figure. The completed figure has 14 points of articulation, 2 katanas, and includes a sticker sheet. Instructions for building two alternate modes from the set's pieces are available for download from the Megabloks website. This set had a sporadic mass market release in late summer/fall of 2012, finally hitting discount retailers such as Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and Ross's in winter 2012.

Always looked at these in store but never pulled the trigger.

That.. actually doesn't look half bad.
I've always been gun shy about the Mega Blox brand though. In my mind, they are inferior Lego wanna-be's. To be fair though, I haven't really messed with any in since I was like 5. |

The Megazord itself is pretty amazing. Great detail and the best proportions of any Claw Armor Megazord released so far.

The Shogun Spear alone propels this figure. Hands down the best minifigure in Mega Bloks' Power Rangers line. This makes me skeptical about the new bodies for the Megaforce figures. They just don't feel as charming to me. Images from Brickset, Brickipedia and Brickultra. |
Dude... What is that last one? I think I need one :lol

I'm quite impressed with the level of paint apps on the sith and the queen. I love it when companies choose not to skimp out on details so it can be more 'cost effective'. I think that's why I like Heroclix pieces so much. So tiny, but so intricate. |
I badly want that Shogun mode minifigure.
|
It looks great but it's not LEGO! So, by the rules of Ashens, I am allowed to burn it! :lol
|
I kinda hope Megaforce means minifigures of past characters. If they can keep this level of quality up, I might just start collecting...
|
I always thought Lego did good, but they never handled the major brand name stuff, only their own.Megablocks does just that,so does Kre-o.I actually have the white Puma from the Halo Megablocks series and the vehicle and minifigs are amazing.
If you like fantasy style stuff or major movie title and comic book stuff(i.e. Star Wars,Indiana Jones,DC Superheroes, etc.)then lego is your thing. But if you want like sentai or videogame style bricks and minifigs,go megablocks and kre-o. |
After the Kreon's ball joints, I just can't go back to Legomen...

But they're still cool. |

Kre-O is actually pretty good, quality-wise. I'm thinking we need a building blocks thread in the General Discussion forum. :lol |
