Like the new dynamic. Interesting up play to it for the story build. Love how it contrasts the new year to the new direction.
Though I wouldn't count other past riders being done either. Future riders will likely only be a temp thing, and we still have much more to go with the series even after their episodes. But the show always suggested it was going to be timey wimy in the approach with divergent branches eventually, and potentially other shifts. It is very much the Terminator/BttF rider. So currently looks like they are diving into the divergent branch timeline theory and origin point of the divergent branches being where they all intersect to come into existence. Do find the names more interesting now with how they pertain to future tech. Gates/Geiz and Woz. Wozniak having been the guy that worked for Steve Jobs which fits the whole retainer motif, but he's also a tech savvy entrepreneur in his own right. Though I think Geiz might surprise, his soldier aspect seems to preclude him from becoming an overlord directly. But we'll see how his character progresses. He does share heavy traits with Dragon Ball's Vegeta. |

This is 2 timeline. We still have 3 timeline to go too. So expect a lot of twists and turns to go. 4 & 5 timeline might be interesting as well. Depends on what all they do with the divergent time branches. But that'll also likely settle down before it gets worn out too, so not too many. Expecting 4 minimum, but possible it leads to upwards of 7. 5 seems like a comfortable estimate without diving into too deep into the series, especially since we should have another shift in the 30s before the final push into the 40s. This is the buildup for the 20s shift. But 2 timeline is definitely broken in some manner. Especially seems interesting with how Woz is almost tauntingly massaging Geiz's ego with these promises of power and supporting him in gaining power. Like a way to endear himself to Geiz, before the betrayal later of a future unwanted that Alternate Woz wasn't telling him about. |

ZX is sad there's a ninja more popular than him now. Anyway, actual thoughts on the episode - Shinobi is damn cool, I love the effort they went to in order to make him "feel" like a proper new Kamen Rider, rather than simply giving us a new suit and going "that's it". Nininger wishes it was this good. The revelation of a new timeline feels pretty dramatic, even if they do try and play it for more suspense than it's possibly worth. Or maybe I'm too used to time travel stuff, I don't know. The Geiz Revive stuff is interesting, but I'm in a disagreement with a *lot* of you in that I don't want future Geiz to be evil, I guess? I get why people might, and cool, but I'd prefer something different than what we already have with Sougo - something to do with not being able to kill Sougo until Woz forces his hand (forcing actual, obvious character development instead). Speaking of Woz, Another Woz is broken, and while he doesn't quite live up to Our Woz's hammyness and fun (I'm already a little done with his writing the future stick), I can see them doing good things with him. And I actually like the suit, somehow. It looks good in motion. |
They actually did such a good job with Shinobi, that his debut (almost?) overshadows the actual new Rider we're meant to be excited about. Doubling up on Woz definitely seemed like a smart move, but maybe having Kinji hang out with everyone for the rest of the show would've been a better one. :lol

And just because I can't help but disagree with Kiwami on things, I'm very much against the idea of Oma Zi-O not actually being Sougo for similar reasons (see also: the worries I had about Emu/M early in Ex-Aid). My pet theory for how the show can keep him in the final boss role without undermining the entire premise is that he'll somehow become "detached" from Sougo, so to speak, and perhaps even decide his other self is a problem that needs to be eliminated. The fact that this very episode debuts an alternate Woz happens to support this idea quite nicely. |
Something I find really curious.
Timeline has changed, and is likely to change again. This is the intermission to break up the monotony of the setup in classic throwbacks briefly, but this timeline still has whatever catalyst that causes Sougo to become Oma allegedly. So even though other things changed and Geiz gains the ability to stop him from his increased confidence and not giving up. But we've shifted from Oma not existing at all, to Oma still coming back into existence so long as Sougo has the belt. So whatever event it was that causes him to turn Oma is still in play. Likely some kind of emotional trigger. And Geiz had to stop him. Which suggests possibly Oma rose from uncontrolled anger. But makes you wonder how new Woz rose or was born then with these new unique gifts. Also raises the question of what Decade surprises are out there still. Since his story will likely come back around still, and he's only gone for the intermission. Is interesting though that the intermission features new riders, and based on Decade's belt, that means he gets more powers in the future then too. Because more riders, means more rider powers for him unlike the standard Zi-O belt that only does rider powers of before them. Really like the subtle timeline fluctuations and details they work in that way. Makes me curious what the next timeline shift will be after this "Geiz Intermission". Also interesting how they're blatantly showing both versions of Woz have some rather more than human abilities. And we've still yet to really find out what exactly the Time Jackers are after in changing the future and how they are what they are. Still also makes me wonder what the catalyst event is that causes Oma to rise. I'm guessing the various "aborted timelines" will be left unsaid what they contained other than what was implied in sub-tones/subtext. Also, really glad to see the Sebastian/Ciel element of Woz is still kept. Though now I'm curious what other versions of Woz we might see in the future. We've likely still got maybe one more version of him likely to show up later for 3 timeline. Though 4 might go back to the standard Sebastian Woz maybe, or 5 will. Also now I'm curious how the time fluctuations impact the way Oma looks. The way the toys have been highlighting him right now almost suggests we should expect his look to change coming up. |
