It took a bit of looking around, mostly on the wiki for names while the episodes aired, but it was easy to figure out once you just saw what monsters each one brought out.
Given how Legiel brought out Golem, the legend creature. And how Storious brought out the Ant and Grasshopper, the story creature. |

I mean you can surely find the show having problems in terms of character introductions when the show has already 10+ names to throw at you in 5 episodes, but it's not like they can make all the scenes be like : "hey what are you going to do ZUOOOS ?" "haha you will see, it will be fun, LEGIEL. Do you want to participate too STORIUS ?" Writers kinda count on your intelligence to recognize the guys by yourself at some point. |
I think it's absolutely fair that we wouldn't know those two's names if nobody has actually, you know, said their names even once. Like yeah, a scene like you described would be awkward if done often, but it still actually ought to happen at least once.
|
Would also help if their outfits had any kind of flair to help distinguish them. I'm not saying they dress the Zoo guy in nyan ears and kitty gloves, but at the moment, yeah I'm gonna be confused by three similarly dressed characters who've only been apart in the last episode.

Yeah, as much as I love this show, there's no getting around the fact that even with the production notes literally explaining what their names and personalities are to me, the bad guy trio right now, in my head, consists of Biceps, Guy #1, and Guy #2. And I'm never quite sure which Guy is which!
Fortunately, that's starting to turn around a bit; thanks to these last few episodes, Biceps has upgraded to the much smaller problem of not knowing how many o's there are in "Zooous". |
Zooous didn't kill Blaze. That's an interesting trait there. Why would he kill previous Blaze and not this one?

It's kind of like playing a video game. You get more satisfaction from beating a harder one than an easier one. I suspect the same principle applies with Zooous. |
Speaking of Zooous, honestly, I'm constantly replaying that ending to his and Rintaro's fight because holy shit. This dude honestly is like real high in my rankings of the villains so far, Desast has charm, but like...
Zooous just stops the fight, calls Rintaro weak, freaking walks over, squats and picks up Nagare before handing it to him. Then tells him to just go home to mommy and cry while doing a little pat to the dudes face! Then he just walks away, unfazed by Rintaro's outburst. It's just the little things, him just handing Nagare back to Rintaro and then the little pat? Those little quirks really help that scene a lot. |
And can we just appreciate the timing of that scene? It came right after Kenzan's amazing fight with Desast, Espada finishing the piranha Megid effortlessly, and Touma finding the clue to Avalon. Then cut back to Blades and we expect another victory... only to see him fall down defeated, and Zoous spare him in the most condescending way possible. IMO the contrast with the previous "Riders being awesome" montage made that feel all the more crushing.
Also it was cool how Storius didn't come in with an attack, he tricked Touma by playing on his sympathy. Nice to have some variety in the villains' methods. |
