Tokkei Winspector: S.H. Figuarts Walter Gallery
40 Attachment(s)
Wake Up! Switch On!
At last! After months of waiting, the Winspector trio is finally complete! Joining previous releases Fire & Bikel to round out the team is the lovable S.H. Figuarts Walter! Walter, like his partners before him, is another fantastic addition to any Metal Hero collection. Dive in below to find out why! Packaging Like Bikel, Walter is a Tamashii Web Exclusive so instead of a window box we get a photoshopped image in place of it. This is the same type of generally slim box we've become accustom to in recent years. But we aren't buying the figure for the packaging really. I do however really like the monotone art on the spine of the box. It's matches up to the spines on Fire & Bikel so nicely. Main Figure The review of S.H. Figuarts Walter is going to be somewhat similar to Fire & Bikel's as they do share a lot of basic parts reuse. Primarily in the legs which are nigh identical. Right down to the hip holster for the included Daytric M2. The only difference being the color of the holster once again. The rest of the figure from the waist up is mostly a new surface sculpt though. Walter, like Fire, has Yellow eyes within the visor of his helmet, putting him a bit at odds with his robotic brother Bikel. Who is the only member of the team with red eyes. Obviously to differentiate from his armor color. But speaking of Walter's eyes, his helmet has the same kind of flip up visor feature as Fire & Bikel, and something I sorely miss in toku heroes is the revealing eye shot of a helmet. The Winspectors, the Space Sheriffs, Janperson, just to name a few. It's such a striking trait. In Walters' case his eyes peer through the opaque visor in a much better fashion than the actual show suit did, and it really makes him appear more lifelike. Now as for articulation Walter is exactly the same as Fire and doesn't have a tire bisecting his chest to hinder him like Bikel. But sadly something else does, his totally accurate wrist wings. When folding the forearms up at the elbow the front wings tend to hit the upper arm and can make some poses more difficult. Surprisingly the giant shoulder pad wings don't get in the way of much at all, they can angle up sufficiently to get out of the way. These issues aside Walter features all the same standard articulation as Fire & Bikel. His paint apps are also totally on par with these two, he just looks fantastic. Although looking at Walter in my photos he appears to be much more of a teal than the actual color of the figure. It comes out just a bit off in photos, but rest assured he is colored properly in person. Ultimately Walter is another excellent excellent addition to any Metal Hero or Winspector collection. He's just another great figure and a fantastic way to round out the trio. Check out the accessories below to fully understand what I mean. Accessories As with Bikel, Walter has an array of accessories that defies the trends of most Web Exclusive figures: 1 - Dislider. This fantastic accessory is Walters' all in one weapon & jetpack. Thanks to a rotating handle it can hand be hand held quite easily despite it's size and weight on either arm. Sort of like a shield and it can be used as a cutting weapon because of how the wings function. In order to use it as a jet pack you'll need to remove the vent panel on Walters' back and take out the small fan assembly in the middle, then reattach it. The opening in it allows you to plug the Dislider on. This completes Walters' look perfectly. With the Dislider attached he is perfect and it doesn't hinder his movement whatsoever. He just looks fantastic. Making him my absolute favorite of the 3 Winspector figuarts. He just excels in every way. 1 - Daytric M2. The multi-purpose standard sidearm of the Winspector trio. Each member caries this item in a right hip mounted holster. The Daytric M2 in it's standard form is a pistol. Sadly I have to point out that it isn't even remotely fully painted. It's cast in a cheap black plastic with minor trim as the only painted detail. Which simply isn't accurate, not even close. None of the proper detailing is present. The Baton mode can be achieved by flipping the barrel up and sliding the scope forward. It's a bit of an unorthodox design but it does the job of being a nice melee weapon. It's a smooth easy change between modes at least. 5 - full sets of additional hands. A pretty healthy selection given how many web exclusive have such a sparse one. Considering the accessories already included with Walter the hands are a fantastic bonus. One set of them is specifically packed in the tray with the Dislider and oil cans. This pair is specifically meant for holding the oil cans. 2 - Oil cans. One of the square "Apolloil" variety and another small cylindrical can that works sort of like a soft drink. These are great props frankly and I love them. Walter pretty much comes with everything he needs to get the job done. And with the recently released massive Winspector accessory pack, we basically have everything else for all 3 of the Winspectors anyway. Final Thoughts Once again I am very pleased with this offbeat release. It seems that Bandai continues to throw their best resources at more obscure characters and licenses. As long as Metal Heroes keep getting the love I have zero complaints with this. I've been a massive fan of Tokkei Winspector for a very long time, and 2016 has seen 4 individual releases for it (Fire, Bikel, Walter, & the Accessory Option Set) and that's crazy and great. S.H. Figuarts Walter is another great addition to any Metal Hero collection so do yourself a favor and pick him and the rest of team up! |

Part 2
- Oil cans - Dislider - Team shots - MAYDAY MAYDAY SOS! |
Wow this is a very detailed review and gallery, work as always! I have been thinking about giving Winspector a watch once I knock out a couple of other Toku shows on my backlog.
Winspector is one of those series that visually appeals to me. I love the designs of the suits, but I've never actually seen it. Great gallery as always!
I've Never seen the series but I always love group shots and they all look great together
Whoa!!! Gotta love that quality, I can only imagine the antics I'd have with these!
Despite not having watched Winspector it's one of those series where the design's just feel so good to me. They all look like pretty decent figures but Walter is probably my favorite designed out of the three.
1. Man that Is a pretty shade of metallic teally green or greeny teal
2. I really need to watch winspector because these designs are awesome 3. How are the kaiju design in winspector? |
Winspector has such nice toku designs for the heroes. It's like...a mix of sentai and Gavan. I really like it.
Metal heroes series needs more respect. The designs may look simple, but are vast in detail. I hope TOEI can do more law enforcement based shows, particularly Super Sentai. Great gallery guys!!
Love Winspector
Such a great show. I love that it is getting some much deserved love in the Figuarts department
You know, I really enjoyed Winspector, but I stopped watching after, say, 4 or 5 episodes.
I don't know why...I guess I just hit a rough patch in real life? Don't remember... Anyway, I remember Walter being a little deeper in shade, but I guess my memory is just as bad... (Or maybe the sun was shadowing him just perfectly. I dunno...) Anywho, the Dislider looks FUCKING AMAZING. I love that accessory and I wish more toku characters got jet/wing packs. Man...I love those things. The character himself looks pretty sweet. However, considering he's a metal hero, that's par for the course since they have a tendency to look pretty baller. The oil cans are a pretty fun accessory. I always enjoy props like that (Such as the ramen bowls with Punch/Kickhopper and the glass of wine with Bravo). It just gives so many more humorous poses to place them in rather than "Generic badass" stance :lol My only grievance is that he doesn't include his own stand, so you can't get any cool mid-air poses with him straight out of box, but that's kind of a minor problem considering he includes everything else he should. ...He's also serving as a reminder that I should really get back to Winspector... |
Always good to see another Metal Hero figure, especially one that seems this good. I haven't actually watched Winspector but, man, those designs look fantastic.
I'd have no idea about Winspector had I not seen Figuarts reviews/galleries, and I'm intrigued. The designs are just great, and I've not watched any Metal Hero stuff other than the Gokaiger crossover movie. Who's subbed it?
When I saw the additional "fun" accessories, I cynically thought, "Of course, he won't come with hands to hold them." I love being wrong! This is a delightful gallery! I love vicarious toy joy. |

A good buddy of mine, Weeaboo Shogun actually has subbed the entire series for anyone interested in seeing it. He's also in the process of subbing all of Solbrain at the moment. I highly highly recommend both to you.
The inclusion of the oil cans is a really nice detail and probably what stands out to me the most of this release. I haven't seen Winspector but I doubt that's anything close to an essential accessory, and that makes it a great bonus. That's really the sort of thing I wish the Figuarts line did more of.
Gosh, the metal heroes just look awesome.

I'm really surprised at the amount of stuff Walter comes with, and I love the inclusion oil cans. Might be a bit a greedy of me, but I do kinda wish they included another small can so Bikel could have one. Still, I love the inclusion at all. I'm a sucker for off beat items.
Also glad to see nothing(outside of the Daytric) was skipped over like with poor Demitasse. |
I absolutely love what I've seen of Winspector (think the last episode I saw was the one with the killer bird), and I'm really glad Fire, Bikel, and Walter got these amazing Figuarts releases.
Those figures look awesome. I haven't seen Winspector yet, but the designs are great. Also that paint job looks amazing, leave it to Bandai to give us an awesome looking metallic paint. Also I wonder if the wings can be opened while attached to the arm...
Nice to see another metal hero team get complete. I wanted to see you take a photo of all your metal hero figuarts together maybe in another gallery like the weapon pack?
Those oil can accessories are great! Like some other people were saying, I haven't watched this one, but I can totally get behind the designs.
The Winspector suits speak to me on a deep level. i need to watch this series

It's a shame Fire sold so poorly. It kills the chance of any more more Metal Heroes Figuarts - at least at the retail level. I want a Janperson figure so bad, but I'm afraid Justice will go unfulfilled.
I love the retro-futuristic look of this figure, but that name is unfortunate...
This is such a cool little figure, from its metallic minty green to the well thought out accessories to just the style oozing out of the design.
Walter comes from an earlier time and his look stands the test of time. Anyone would be lucky to own such a great figure. |

This is a very nice-looking reminder to myself that I still need to go back and pick up a Walter to round out the trio. I already have the first two and the Option set just arrived, so I'd like all three to load them up.
Walter really is sharp as hell, and seeing a somewhat different color than what's present in most of my toku figures is a nice change of pace. |
That shot with the fire effects is awesome.
Love the colors and designs. Would be able to take some interesting photos with these guys, would look awesome next to my Riders too.
The amount of details these figures have is outstanding!
Every single part painted to perfection! |
I've been seeing it for years but I'm still amazed at the level of detail they get on these figuarts.
I freaking love the Winspector designs. I've watched a handful of episodes, and it has all of Sugimura's trademark batshit insanity. I need to finish the show already.
It really neat seeing the jet pack becoming a shield, don't think I have seen that before
Oh man, I remember when Den-O literally exploded the second we heard there’s gonna be Winspector Figuarts :lol
And they look amazing, especially with the accessory pack (which we’ll see later, I’m sure ;) ), but I haven’t pulled the trigger on any of them, can’t really say that I know anything about Winspector. Except the theme song and that it aired dubbed in Germany at one point in the past. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoKXgzGUTGE That's awesome. Anyways, great pictures, Walter is probably my favorite of the bunch because of his wings, which apparently can be used as a shield too, did not expect that. The group shots are my favorite; any team of Figuarts looks amazing together. |
I think that this is definitely my favorite of the bunch. The more angular helmet plus the wings just work for me, and that shade of green can only help.
Ahh, Walter looks great. Figuarts Bikel and Walter are high on my list of Toku Things I Want. I have Fire and I like him a bunch.
Also, if you haven't watched Winspector you should totally watch Winspector! It's really good! |
