Hey look K2eizo posted a video of the first sofubi figure (is that what they're called?) and that promotional DX Ore Eyecon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9c5LwXVsf7k Man kinda bummed I opted for the combined driver/saber option since it doesn't come out till november because those eyecons despite having no sound features look fun to mess around with. |

I'm also opting for the combined set. One, because I imagine shipping might cost slightly less, and two, because I'll be pretty busy in October and won't have much time to play with them. :p |
I do periodically pick up the Newton Eyecon and just press the button for a bit. It's entertaining enough for a short while. I do also love the design of these things, but being completely honest, there's really not all that much to be done with them. Really can't wait for the belt.
Also, I do wish the sticker quality was a bit better. The "attack" iris pattern on mine has a tiny air bubble in it so that's not super great. Eye surface is also perhaps a tad too reflective; enough so that it kinda interferes when trying to see the details particularly on the "face" pattern. I will also say that the insides don't look so hot. There's a fairly sizable gap between the eye opening and the rotating dealie, and it's honestly a bit jarring. I wish it could be more seamless. The white plastic edge "framing" the four designs aren't all the same, and they're asymmetrical, so that's not really helping things at all. So unless you're looking at the thing from a pretty specific angle the insides are kind of an eyesore. It's not the best case scenario. That all sounds pretty negative but I honestly still really like it. (it's certainly far better than the shift cars, next special at least is just dreadful. guess i dunno about the rest though) I certainly plan to keep collecting them, though I will say I'm unimpressed enough that I'm considering trying out the candy toy versions instead. Would certainly save some money, especially on Musashi and Spectre... |
The DX Ore Ghost Ghost Eyecon for the special premium price is currently available at HLJ, just bought one :3
|
I might just get that. That way I can display the Driver with the Eyecon inside while also having Ore alongside the others... Although, I feel kind of ridiculous paying 9 bucks for shipping on an item worth less than a dollar. Maybe I'll ship it alongside the Driver and Gan Gun Saber...
|
The ridiculous pricetag managed to win over the fact that I really don't need it at all. Talk about wasteful spending...but it's 100 yen. So whatever. I'll just ship it with the other stuff...
Wonder when the Robin Eyecon and Gan Gun Hand will go up for preorder. I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be October releases... |

I will say say, I do find it odd that the Ghost Eyecons don't come with their respective Ghost Gadgets. For example, I'm surprised Robin isn't packed with the Condor Phone that turns the Saber into a bow; instead they're sold separately. I'm sure collectors who just want the Eyes are happy about that, but I fail to see the logic from a marketing standpoint. |
