So much death and next week another one. I really wonder if Vernage can bring back all these dead people or if they do the world C thing it will fix it.
|
God I really hope they don't pull a Ryuki.
|
with the preview for next episode...
i'm pretty sure they are going to make a new world and everybody is revived in the finale. xD |
|
They really put a focus on Kazumi's death. It got as close as you can to a perfect death in 20 minutes. The Itsumi betrayal was fairly expected, but another death wasn't. All the character's actors portrayed it really well, apart from Sento imo. The next episode trailer hints at Gentoku dying as well. I really hope they don't pull a W and revive all of them, it just takes away the dramatic effect for me.

So hu....they really killed him off hu.... That sucks....errr It kinda changes the " No Kamen Rider dies" formula from these last years...
( Wait...;That formula kinda doesn't exist since the last real death was in...Well...Drive) Next, they are gonna kill Rogue?...Meh |

Technically in Ex-Aid, only Kiriya was the first to be fully brought back to being human in the end. Parad, Poppy and Dan doesn't fully count as they are not human, right?
|
Misora really sold the scene with Kazumin. You can really feel her sadness and despair.
And I loved that touch at the end when all you can hear is the wind whistling while everybody takes in Kazumins death. Then Evolt casually walks up and says 'sup. Next week they're hinting at Gentoku's demise as well. I wonder if they'll kill Sawa too and just leave Sento, Banjou and Misora? |

Man, this just gutted me. Me and a lot of my friends lost a loved one 10 months ago and these reactions were pretty much identical to ours. We didn't even the usual banter at the preview, the barbecue scene really was the calm before the storm |
When Takeda Kouhei was announced as Kazumin's actor, I was overjoyed because I loved him as Otoya. Can't believe Toei did this to me again. He better not return in Zi-O as an evil counterpart of Kazumin
|
Well this is probably about the most depressing episode of Rider I've seen in a very long time...
And I love just to undermine how evil Evolt is, after everybody despairs over Kazumi's death, Evolt just walks up like "How you guys doin'? :D" They also explained one of the bigger plotholes of the season in showing that Utsumi is, in fact, a cyborg (which, if I'm not mistaken, makes him the first actual cyborg rider since the Showa Era, right? Only one that comes close is Chase, but he's more of an android) |
I like how on multiple occasions during the recaps they were joking that Utsumi had to be a robot because there's no other way he could have survived before the idea gets dismissed.
Then it turns out that he IS actually a robot. |
Poor, poor Kazumin. I never thought I would like him after how much I hated Otoya in Kiva, but he was truly a great character and went out in a blaze of glory. I know there is a pretty high chance he will just get revived (I hope not), but the impact of this episode was huge. I loved the scene where all of the Build cast was just grieving and in shock, and you could hear nothing but the wind blowing. Looks like Gentoku and hell knows who else is getting taken down next episode.
The little meta reference that Utsumi is actually a cyborg was kind of amazing though. |
I swear, Amazons was lighter hearted than Build has become. Definitely killed off less major characters. Not complaining, just surprised at how dark this series got
|
Grease died for our sins, he will be missed :(
Only 2 eps left |
Build is ending......" Cries "
|
What's the thematic purpose of Build be for...rebuilding its universe?
Japan is already united albeit a little broken. There is no target of obsession of love that demands the universe to be rebuilt to. There is no lingering evil that can only be killed by rebuilding the universe. |

Hey what the- Someone got their Gaim in my Build again! I just wanna see the cool bunny tank guy beat up monsters, and instead they hit me with all this weapons-grade melodrama and wanton destruction. Honestly... Oh, and speaking of being honest, I loved the episode. It handled Grease extremely well obviously, and I owe the show a formal apology for comparing him to Specter a while back, but it also hit a lot of other good notes too. They found a solid ending for Utsumi, all things considered, and, personally, I really loved Sento's reaction to seeing more hapless innocents getting sucked into a black hole. It's a small moment, but combined with all the other small moments, they've done a great job showing how much stress Sento is under at this point. It's a lot like Yuusuke towards the end of Kuuga, and anything that reminds me of Kuuga is automatically awesome. |
I want Evolt dead and I want him dead last week.
|
I always liked Evolt when he takes Soukichi's form since he's so chill and charismatic. But that moment when he says "Yo", I just want to see Sento punch him in the face
|
Well.....this just didn't make my Monday. I need a moment to process.
|
That feeling when you came to be impressed by Grease but Utsumi takes the spotlight instead. I did not see that coming.
Anyways, Grease "dying" was sad and all, but come on, you know everyone will be back after the fusing two worlds-thingie. |
I'm conflicted. On one side, I want the dead characters stay dead, on the other side, I want Kazumin and Gentoku revived and live happily. I'm not sure which one do I prefer more
|
That was definitely one of the better death scenes I can remember seeing in Rider. I really loved the use of silence in both Kazumi's final fight and the others' reaction to his death. I also liked that the show sidelines Sento and Banjou this week; they're going to be the ones to end it all, so it's nice that Kazumi and Beardo get some focus before they go out.

Ok I am just going to be honest, to all who loved this episode I will just like you to know that I hate you. I tried so hard to care about this episode but I have grown so tired of this show that I couldn't care about Grease, who is one of my favorite characters in this show, dying. No matter how hard I tried, I even liked the touches they did like when robot jelly popped up then they monotone it to show Grease has died. Just in case anyone says it, I have been going into this show with zero expectations for weeks and still come out meh. What annoys me more is that if you showed me this episode a couple months ago I would of been all over this episode praising it, calling the creators fucking bastards for killing Otoya again. I am glad this show is almost over and I am waiting for the clock to tick down to where it will be a time for the new rider.
Sorry but I just needed to get that out of my system. Quote:

Smells like a contrarian.
Anyway, this was probably the best death I've seen in a tokusatsu so far. They really gave a great weight to it. I'm a little sad they did this so late in the show though, since the plot about merging worlds gives them such an easy out to revive people. |

Please not another ryuki ending that erased the whole season, but I fully expect it to happen when Sento said what would happen if earth A and Earth B connects with the white panel creating earth C.

I hope Toei are not trying to revive deceased character in Build because the story will be better if the deceased characters are not revived. Some of fans pandering are really want to revive characters so Toei should ignore that's fans pandering. I still upset and annoyed to revival concept in Ex-Aid.

Sentou will remain as Taro Satou with Takumi Katsuragi’s mind, but the other universe will have un-fused versions of Taro and Katsuragi so all three will exist, similarly the Gentoku and Kazumin of the other world will take the place of the ones that died in ours, and since they won’t have had the same journey with the cast they won’t recognize them. But I hope that in the end they at least hint that some of their memories have carried over in some way. |
