I just finshed my Ace as well. I had some fun with the retrofires and gundams afterward. I think Im in love with these things now. Can't wait to the other two.

The Ace that I ordered last week from Japan arrived today. I look forward to working on it in the next few days. I started PatStriker yesterday, so I'll probably try to finish that one first.

DX Buster Machines GT-02 & RH-03 Review & Pics
The remaining Buster Machines for the other two Go-Busters have finally been released!
First out of the gate is the GT-02 system, used by Blue Buster. The centerpiece of this Zord is Blue's BuddyRoid, Gorisake Banana- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/100_0822.jpg And just like Nick's toy, he appears to be made of leftover Goseiger & Gokaiger accessories. The crux of GT-02 is this massive tanker systems- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/100_0823.jpg which can also carry the weaker Zords. Adding Gorisake to the Machine doesn't change too much this time around http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/100_0825.jpg except for the delicious irony of "Munky-Trukk Zord" :P GT-02 is a massive parts former; requiring the truck mode to be taken completely to pieces for converting between forms. I can't remember a single Zord with this much assembly required in recent years. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/100_0821.jpg 02's Beast Mode looks OK but the most important feature from the show (his explosive banana-missiles) are sadly not included here. The Zord is completely immobile, which is a big disappointment. GT-02 is a big step downward from Ace, lacking the easy & functional transformations that made the first Buster Machine so enjoyable. The optimism i had for this line is somewhat diminished. |
RH-03 is the Yellow Buster Machine, operated by Usada Lettuce-
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/100_0827.jpg who doesn't even get the minimal articulation Nick & Gorisake showed off. Not that surprised Japan cut features for "the girl." 03's default Vehicle Mode is a helicopter- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/100_0828.jpg And in this case the necessity of the Buddyroid cockpit is especially noticeable. Compare with Lettuce attached- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/100_0826.jpg The copter toy just looks incomplete without it. RH-03's Beast Mode is a first for Super Sentai- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/100_0829.jpg The Rabbit Zord! :D Transformation is much easier than 02's forms and the link between modes is much more obvious. So while this one isn't quite as good as CB-01, its definitely a step back in the right direction. |
Lets Combining!
With enough experience & Enetron under their belts, the Go-Busters can unite all Go-Buster Machines to create Go-Buster Oh! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/100_0830.jpg The fusion of elements here is fairly creative; every piece of the Buster Machines is required for the combinations and the connection between Machines is stable and still allows a fair amount of Megazord-grade articulation. However, visually the combination is kind of a mess. The eccentric kibble resulting from Gorisake alone is enough to throw off the unity of the design while Rabbits' apparently weak arms don't match the required "superior fighting force" image we would usually expect with such a combo. Ultimately Go-Buster Oh is a bit of a letdown; there were obviously some good, creative ideas with this series but for some reason they've been crushed under the "Tradition" Sentai Mecha tropes. Mildly recommended. And since I'm probably not the only one who noticed this resemblance during the first combination Episode: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/100_0831.jpg :) |
In copter mode, the hands flip down to create the illusion of cockpit, it's not very good, but it's an attempt.

Question for those who are semi to very experienced with painting model kits...would Gundam markers work for Gobuster Ace? I've never painted a model before so I was curious if Gundam markers are a decent substitute for paint? Or has anyone tried Sharpie's paint pens?
|
I've been using some cheap paint markers I got from Walmart on the MG Figure-rise OOO, and I started trying them out on the Patstriker minipla, and so far I'm pleased with the results. Regular Sharpie markers, though, don't work at all, it just rubs right off.

Nice pics. I agree Gobusteroh looks a bit weird but reminds me of Brave combiners. The gravity crush attack it uses is also similar to Fire Dagwon's Fire Hold and Fire Sword combo. Coincidence??
Btw is your Gobuster-oh chest kind loose fitting? Doesnt seem to 'click' in place on mine. |
Finally got round to taking pictures of my attempt at painting Ace and Nick..
size comparison first, http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...z/DSCN0612.jpg He may be smaller but he can fly.. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...z/DSCN0587.jpg ...and be a cheetah... http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...z/DSCN0608.jpg ...and a car... http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...z/DSCN0600.jpg ... and has a robot buddy. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...z/DSCN0607.jpg And just because =) http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...z/DSCN0591.jpg |
Looking good! :thumb:
|
Cheers man =) I wish my Ace's windscreen/legs turned out as good as yours though. The paint on mine went funny and didn't look right so i put the stickers on over it =p
|
Honestly, mine didn't turn out quite like I planned it to either. I was hoping for a much darker shade of red, but it seems decent metallic red paint is near impossible to get in UK model shops.

Don't know if different colors behave differently. My experience has been just fine with Sharpies though. But you may want to try a specific color on the edge of the sprue before you commit to painting a part. |
really? I tried a black sharpie on the MG Figurerise Double kits, and it rubbed off really easy, and a metallic silver sharpie on the Gokaiger PatStriker minipla and it just wiped off on to my fingers. no good at all. Acutally, now that I think about it, it was a set of metallic sharpies, but they may not have been Sharpie brand sharpies, but they were advertised as permanent on a variety of surfaces, including plastic. but it was all lies.
I went back to Walmart and picked up their Gold and Silver paint markers for $3 each, and they work great, and look fantastic, they are an absolutely gorgeous gold and silver. I'm almost done with PatStriker and GaoLion, I'll post pics once I'm done. |
For those looking for alternatives to Gundam Markers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stBAW..._ScllQwKUpA%3D |
Yep, those are what I'm using. I have two of the 5 packs, $10 each, plus the silver and gold, at $3 each.
I use the fine sizes, except on the gold and silver where I derped up and grabbed the medium size, which is freaking HUGE when dealing with a small kit. But I just dump a lot of paint on the bigger spots, or on a paper, and apply with a brush to the areas the fatter tip can't reach. But unless you're doing huge swaths of plastic, get the fine tip. I'm still pretty tempted to grab a set of metallic Gundam markers from HLJ, though, for metallic blue, red and green, though I don't know what I'd use it on. Oh, one more thing I've been doing. I don't know if it's because I'm painting too many areas at once, or if I'm just a klutz, but I am always touching the not-yet-dried-paint and smearing it around on other colors, the red in particular seemed to still feel kinda tacky after drying over night. So, I picked up a spray can of clear Triple Glaze, or something like that, from Walmart for $3, and I used it the other day to spray down the pieces of PatStriker I'm done with, and after it dried I think it looks pretty fantastic. It's a decent gloss (I like gloss), plus it feels like it will protect the paint well. I likes it. Just got to finish up the white paint on the rear of PatStriker, glaze it, and it's done. |

Just placed my order for Ace. Can't wait to get him!
|
Wait, minipla ace is already out? How is the poseability on it? I've seen reviews showing that miniplas have articulation unlike their DX counterparts
|
It's got pretty much all the articulation you could want. Flick back two pages, tons of pictures from zeoranger, shinken red and myself =] They've also just released GT-02 and RH-03 minipla's.
|
Yeah I saw them in stock when I made my order with CS Toys but only had enough for Ace.
Dunno if i really want Rabbit or Gorilla though, not a huge fan of how Oh looks. |
Am gonna have to hold off on the rest of Go-BusterOh for a little while, as I spent all my spare cash on SRC Magiking earlier this week and have two other preorders due for the end of the month.
Can't imagine they'll disappear of ebay any time soon anyways. |
I have a big box of minipla on the way from CSToys. Besides GobusterOh, I decided to just grab everything I had been wanting for awhile. I got the Gokai Machine vol.2 6 piece set, Machalcon, an extra Gokai Galeon for Kanzen GokaiOh, and Gosei Ultimate. I'm going to be busy for awhile. lol
The only thing I'm missing from Gokaiger is Gojyujin. I'll likely get one off of Ebay next week when I get my next paycheck. |
I think i may have just payed to m8uch via ebay for a set of the mew go-busters minpilas. CSToys has them for 23.00 before shipping.
|
I don't if it would be the same for the US but I just had a look on CSToys to see how much it would be for the gorilla and rabbit, and it turned out to be exactly the same price with shipping to the UK as cwk2002 is selling. And by experience I know shipping from him would be quicker.
|
Good to hear, My GT 02 and RH 03 minipilas just shipped but they wont get here untill 5/10 at the earyiest :(
|
|
Wow, they're really stepping up the Mini pla year after year!
|
Waiting just got a whole lot harder. :(
Those poses though........... |
Hey I just managed to find a clear gokai-oh on sale at a nice price
