More Details on Power Rangers Megaforce, New Images
8 Attachment(s)
We have even more details and some new images to share with you on the upcoming Power Rangers Megaforce! Before we continue, a huge special thanks to Fury Diamond of Samurai Cast Blog and RangerCrew for all the information and pictures he's taken. Without his effort there'd still be a lot of questions waiting to be answered.

There's a lot of information there to digest. The important thing to take away is the incorrect information from yesterday - Goseiger was NOT selected because Gokaiger is too boy-focused and features unattractive themes like plundering/looting. Regarding some of the quotations from Saban Brands regarding Megaforce and Goseiger... ...need I remind everyone at the start of Power Rangers Samurai, the cast was on record stating "we are different characters than the Japanese series, it's a different show entirely." It turns out, Power Rangers Samurai is a direct episode-by-episode, line-by-line translation of Shinkenger. Time will tell what we have in store for us. If the only change to the story is five high school teenagers compared to five angels, it's going to be a long two years. Unless of course you thoroughly enjoyed Goseiger, in which case, you must be pretty excited! (we're talking about you Sentai). Enjoy! |
I really want to be hopeful with this one. Thankfully, Saban is only making that easier.
They'd better give RoboKnight a voice as luscious and deep at GoseiKnight's. |

Since Megaforce will be focusing on five teenagers instead of five angels, I have a couple of questions:
1) Will Saban edit out the angel wings on the Goseiger footages, or shoot their own scenes to avoid those angelic wings? 2) Will they explain why the Red & Pink Rangers have the similar marking on their costume, and different than the other three Rangers? It's obvious that they won't go with the whole tribal origin in Goseiger. Btw, that Megaforce Red Ranger in the convention is very tall. I wonder if it means they will cast an actor who is much taller than Alata in the series? And how would that account for the height discrepancy in the sentai footages? |
I'm so happy that Gokaiger will be used at some point! In the mean time I'll be happy to see what they do with Goseiger having only seen them in the team up movies.
I literally laughed out loud when Kickback called out Senati! :D |
They are going to stretch the show out through 2012? -_-
I think I said that earlier today that that means when they get to Gokaiger (2015), they will be FOUR SERIES BEHIND!!! |
Now that we have this info, I can't wait to see merchandise. I want a good card reader and good zords. Maybe even good figures. I'm sick of figures with fuckin' 10 pack abs. Then again, they aren't made for me.
|
Perhaps they'll integrate Gokaiger in through the second season of Mega Force.

However, if this does happen, I'm moving to where you live, 'cause you've got a great set of stars to wish upon. |

My only retribution will be if Megaforce causes Sentai to hate both Megaforce *AND* Goseiger. At that point, Saban will win in my eyes, even if they actually lose hardcore.
|
I really don't think Saban is going to do anything about the Goseigers being Angels, I see so many shows involving the theme of angels, I think its an non-issue

Sorry to dissapoint you Kickback :lol |

This is very promising. It is reassuring that Saban knows about the negative reaction to Samurai's unoriginality. Hopefully this results in a fantastic series. For now, I'm cautiously optimistic.
|
I'm glad that Saban seems to be replacing the theme of them being angels in favor of high school students. I wasn't a fan of it in Goseiger but it didn't keep me from watching it.
I was also kind of hoping that they would change the morpher like Disney did with Jungle Fury from Gekiranger, but you can see the Tensouder on the belts in the pictures. Also I guess it would be hard to do with it being used so much in the sentai footage. I wasn't a big fan of the cards and the morpher being a card reader. Goseiger wasn't my favorite sentai. 'lol' Maybe Megaranger will help to see it in a new light. |

I really hope that gets changed before Mega Force airs. And adding him in earlier in the show than Goseiger is kind of an anomaly, since Sixth Rangers usually show up at or around the 17th episode. Then again, we've had the Thunder Rangers show up in the second episode of Ninja Storm, and Ranger Green and Black show up in the first few episodes of RPM, so this really shouldn't come as a surprise to me. I really hope Saban can turn Goseiger into a good Power Rangers show, because from what we've seen so far, it has yet to impress me. |
I'm actually looking forward to it. For better or worse this may be the second coming of MMPR. I'm most excited about the whole let's run our own story attitude.
|
And the Tensouder needs to stay as it is. Remember: When Gosei Great uses his finisher it requires a card. And not to use it the Tensouder, and the card reader, would mean reshooting every Zord Battle for every episode.
My only question is: How will they change Datas from the original. |

What people fail to realize is that MMPR is dated and cheesy (Yes, I know this is a plus for some people, but I can barely stomach the first season).
It should be the second coming of In Space if you wanted a good series |
Oh yeah, do you think they will actually show the first episode this time? Or are they just going to jump into episode 3 again?

In the regard of MMPR being absolutely cheesy, I suppose that does make Samurai the second coming of it.

Ehh. I hope they nix the Mega Mode thing. Just too blocky for my interests.
|
I liked the designs in Goseiger, however the story and especially Gosei Red began to get on my nerves right around 3/4 into the season, when they changed major villain for the second or third time.
|
maybe 5 heros 's grandpas and grandmas be angels
grandpas and grandmas 's spirts give them power |

"Do tell." "What if their dead family members gave them powers?" "Yes. Let's remind kids that their relatives are dead. I believe we're done here." "Brewskies?" "Brewskies." And that is the story of how Saban creates their shows. |
Not what I meant, Switch. Watch the footage as they use their finisher.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH_82n9clk4 Specifically at around 50 seconds in. The Card forms around Gosei Great, fires at the monster to stun them, and then flies through to defeat them. Has nothing to do with the cockpit. They need the Tensouder, and the Cards. Or they'll be reshooting Alot. |

Hell, Cole's entire journey to find his parents led him to two graves and ultimately, failure. |

Anyway. If you want to make the powers come from their ancestors, it doesn't need to be their grandparents. It can be their actual ancestors, from 100s of years prior. That particular trope is extremely common. |
Censor overtake of children's shows? I'd disagree with that.
We're light years ahead of the 90s, when Fox wouldn't let them use realistic guns in shows, and thus you got things like how laserguns were a common weapon in the 1990s Spider-Man (never mind how Morbius didn't actually bite his victims). Heck - these days, if it's not a human suffering it, you can get away with just about as much brutality as you want on children's TV. |

Animation and live-action are two very, VERY different things.
To stay off the "bad list" with a lot of parenting groups who allow their children to watch network channels (not shows, CHANNELS) aimed at kids (like Nick, Disney, etc.) certain things need to be followed. Young adults firing realistic looking guns with bullets is a serious no-go. The concept of death (in terms of a character dying during the show, not a "my dad died/mom died/whatever before you met my character") is also a no-go. Violence, especially too much non-costumed fighting, is also a no-go. Saban Brands is trying to get Power Rangers back to the whole "helping kids be good people as they grow up" thing that they lost touch with sometime after the Zordon-era. Adding in death, more violence, realistic guns, and a swear word or two is not going to help them get back to that point, even if the older fans (which are not part of the demographic or make a realistic dent in anything sales-related or ratings-related thanks to the Internet) desire it so. |
