Pacific Rim 2 Halted Indefinitely
This is a long read but a very interesting look at Hollywood and the squabbles that kill movies.
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...iversal-823715 In short - Legendary has investments in China and Pacific Rim did well there, so they want a sequel. Universal was unhappy with the domestic performance (101 million) and is very reluctant to move forward, causing the movie to be halted indefinitely, if not scrapped altogether. |
That sucks man.
Still it's not surprising in the least. Hollywood wants money and while Pacific Rim did do well I guess they just don't want to fund a sequel. |
No big loss IMO. Pacific Rim was decent at best.

No mention of the supposed animated series based on the film either. Gonna guess that's faded into oblivion as well.

I'm actually ok with this. As much as I enjoyed Pacific Rim, I can't imagine a sequel to it actually turning out good. With how the story went, I see any sequel being really forced and heavy handed to try and continue that story.

Yes yes yes!

Aww man! I read before that production had hit a bump, but I was hoping for an eventual release. I don't care how long I have to wait. It would be super great though if they would have Goji and Kong fight Jaegers in a future mashup. And be all Toku movie-like and have the two Kings fighting WITH Jaegers against some super Kaiju.

Well I'm pretty bummed.

Well, balls. :(

Aww, I wanted another Giant Robot Punch Up.
