Pacific Rim After-Movie Thread (Spoiler Heavy)
I figured since the movie is finally out and people might want to discuss how they felt about it or their favorite parts without worrying about all the spoiler tags,I would make this thread with the warning in the thread title.
So,without anymore hesitation, someone find me my goddamn shoe. |
I thought it rocked the party which rocks your body. The fight in Hong Kong was insane, the flashback sequence was intense, and the finale was amazing. Can't wait to see it again!

So I saw this yesterday and loved every minute of it. I'd gush about it, but I have no idea where to start. Good action, good CGI, good character moments, good character interaction. This movie has it all.

That last scene with Hannibal chou though. :lol

Good lord this movie is amazing I loved every moment. I really hope they can do a sequel. Also I gotta say this chain sword FTW. I also love Hannibal, man I really want a figure of Leatherback and that category five kaiju it looked sick.

I know the fight with Leatherback had it's cheesy one liner ending, but god I loved it.Also Ron Pearlman and Charlie Day...wow.I know they're in talks of a sequel, and if it does get made,I hope we see a bigger variety of jaegers.2 of the four lasted maybe a minute even though they were really hyped.

This film is SPECTACULAR. I've seen it twice, plan on going two more at least, will buy nearly every Jaeger figure they release.
Everything is done so well. Action, design, pacing, character development... it all just WORKS to an amazing degree. But if I had to pick one element I liked best it would be the treatment of Mako. Any other action movie probably would've gone through the cliche "She can't pilot because she's a girl" plot point, but for the entire time onscreen Mako is shown honest respect and serious development. Its so rare for action films to have well-rounded female characters these days and Del Toro pulled it off. |
Definitely enjoyed it a lot. Not my favorite kaiju movie by any means, but a really good solid action movie. If I had one criticism it's that the action was hard to make out at times(for example I wasn't always clear which kaiju was which in the big final battle), and I went to the 2D show. Can't imagine how hard it was to follow in 3D. But it was still very well done.
