https://i.imgur.com/QKmiR5b.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UHYEVxc.jpg Just going to do some random thoughts today. -In early comics, especially this first arc, I treated W. and Raider as a comedy duo. Raider's the straight man that hates his job and W's the funny man and crazy boss. -Much like W. himself, I need to address Desert Claw in a similar fashion. Desert Claw was created to be W's version of Cobra Commander, the silly 80's cartoon one. Desert Claw looks like a stereotypical terrorist at the time and might come off badly to some. Later on I do reveal in a bio (which I may post at some point) that he comes from a family that helps spread discord in the world. For example, his father was a Nazi. -Tuskie is named here. Believe or not, he may very well be the most developed character in the comic. It takes a while to get there though. At one point I considered giving him a real name starting with W so he could replace W. in the title, but never got that far. -First cliffhanger. Most parts end something like this with either a cliffhanger or a plot reveal. -Starting with this comic, I had to use stands on figures. I try to hide them better in later comics. Tomorrow: the introduction of Archangel, my brother, as we try to escape the Desert Claw. |

https://i.imgur.com/3wKt4l2.jpg https://i.imgur.com/y8aAys1.jpg NOTES: -Archangel_B4U. My brother. I don't see him in the online fandom to often, but I believe he's a member on TFW2005. If you've read ATTF #1, he's there...and looking very different. Both me and him were never happy with the GI Joe Muskrat being used for him. -I ad libbed most of this first arc and didn't do good photo coverage. I would take a picture and move onto the next pose. Basically what I'm saying is these photos are awful. -First "death" of the comic. Honestly, I just needed the monster out of the way. -How did Archangel get the umbrella? I don't know! Yes, I'm pointing out my own continuity errors. Someone has to. -"Fuck" is said. I don't do that to often. You will see "slag" more often though. I hadn't learned of what it meant in the UK yet and I only knew it as the catch all curse from Beast Wars. Tomorrow: The conclusion of Escape From the Himalayas. There's 5 parts in this arc, but the 5th part is just a short epilogue so I'm going to post it up with Part IV. |

https://i.imgur.com/K5AQvoz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zHGiqmf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/r44OFpa.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TCKGQmt.jpg -This is the most self-contained arc. Beginning, middle, end, with little in way of setting up or leading into the next arc. That changes with the next arc and never stops. -Part IV starts a running gag about Desert Claw's name. W. can not get it right. Also, in yesterday's comic Desert Claw got my name wrong, but that's him being a mean villain. W. literally can not remember Claw's name. -I remember a conscious decision to make the throwing joke. I wanted Blade to completely fail at something. I also really like the pile of skipped over weapons to this day. -I like how I made walls to fill in the play set's missing walls, but then couldn't keep the back drop out of frame. I use this set later to much better effect. -Chekhov's umbrella. I just wanted to say that. -I didn't think I'd have to mention this until the next comic, but I should address it now. These are not the original copies of the comic. At some point I realized the font was to small and wanted to correct some typos and other things. This is that re-edited version and the biggest change is here. There was a flight stand from I think ToyBiz Marvel Legends that I edited out as best as I could. I think it turned out well considering what I had to work with. Either way, I love how dumb this ending is. -You can tell this was made a decade ago because if I made it now W. would be yelling "I'm Mary Poppins, y'all!" Just saying, Guardian of the Galaxy totally stole that gag from me. :P -The Epilogue part was just me wanting a "next time Gadget" line from Claw. The Zelda get item joke I used again later. To soon if you ask me. Tommorrow comes the terror that is Leader-1 and his Zombie Go-Bots. |
https://i.imgur.com/54urzW9.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/cS4mMsn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qpGyXtI.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yNEV041.jpg -I believe Go-Bots is spelled a few different ways in these comics, so I just left them as is so long as it reads Go-Bots in some way. -I love the hand drawn White House Set. I still have it to. Wish I had done more of those. Maybe I'll do that for a comic I've been thinking about and having a hard time finding something to use for a background. -Character intro: Wolfangel, my brother's girlfriend, now wife (That might be a spoiler now that I think about it). I didn't know what to do with her every on and it's not helped by the fact that, at the tme, women action figures in that scale weren't that plentiful and I had to settle for a Baroness with removable glasses. Ignore the Cobra emblem on her chest. I paint over that before season 1 is over. -I still like the Clinton joke. -Forum characters: I never said what forum this comic started on, Transfandom. One thing I decided to do is fill some side character roles with forum members. The first was Wonko and I can't remember why. Might've just been the funny name. There's a lot more in the next arc. I don't regret putting forum characters in the comic, but I don't think I would today unless I knew them in person or a long time. -Blade completely destorys the 4th wall here. In these early comics, everyone was kind of self aware about being in a comic. Later I made a rule that only W. knows that. -First bit of TAOWAR lore. GI Joe was disbanded and Hasbro makes toys. Oddly enough, right around this time was when the 25th GI Joe line was starting. Side note, there's a small cameo by a future character in the flashback. -And knowing is half the battle! aka low hanging fruit comedy. -Suddenly, Cy-Kill in the square shaped oval office. The White House's security is at it's finest today. -Ladies and gentlemen, the villain of season 1: Leader-1. Why is he a villain? Beacuse Hasbro named a Minicon after him. That's motive right there. -I love henchmen. They're like W, but not in charge and I can kill them off afterward. Tomorrow: Jokes that make no sense in hindsight, an attempted big fight scene, and a deleted scene as the Zombie Go-Bots attack the White House. |

https://i.imgur.com/GBYcV3N.jpg https://i.imgur.com/1e7wjWo.jpg -Some of the weapons here have stuck with the characters. The sword Blade is using is even named later. I had limited swords at the time, so Archangel got a sword neither of us were happy with, but I never did get to replace it with something better. Whoops. -Thought about correcting the spelling error of "I can shotgun!" but honestly the error makes me laugh. -The Reboot gag...because LOL random humor was in at the time and I needed to switch Blade and Archangel to the new bodies. -Both figures go through revisions later on (mainly Blade's coat and Archangel's hat), but this is generally how they look for the rest of the comic. For a better idea of what these figures look like later on, take a look at the header at the beginning, that was made in late season 2. -If I had known Aaron Archer was the designer of that Jar Jar toy, I would've used it for something else later. -While I don't think the Icon joke works well in hindsight due to world rules I put in place later, the icons were used later on in a Halloween Special to put on costumes. I may post that in October if I remember. I really like that comic. -Wow, look at all the characters with guns. I'm not saying I don't use guns now, but I use them far less and this comic is a good example of why. -Hey look, the first Transformer in the comic, Cliffjumper. He comes out of no where, has 2 lines, dies 3 panels later, and the joke? The toy came with no weapons, that's the joke. I want to say that this is the worst example of lol random humor in the comic, but I fear it will prove me wrong. -Look at those bullets. I will never claim my effects are great or even good, but I've improved since this. -Filler fight lines aka times when I steal lines from fiction I enjoy. -Hey, it's Spay-C! We'll talk about him later. -Edited out the stand holding Archangel when he attacks Spay-C. I can not remember if that was in the original or the re-edit, but I believe it was the re-edit. -The 2 panels where Wolfangel stays behind were originally cut. It was also longer. At the time I thought it was too serious. In the re-edit, I added it back in and shorten it to this just so you knew she was stying behind. Tomorrow: A tree, a captain, and a dingy! |
https://i.imgur.com/VlYsOfH.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/01X9J0F.jpg https://i.imgur.com/WetURmu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/XvuLldW.jpg -The U.S.S. Flounder. This is actually a toy my brother had left over from childhood. I can't rememory how this made it into the comic, but I believe it was just us joking around. -I like to think my water effects got better, but I do kind of miss just how cartoony this looks. -Jack Sparrow. This was before even the hardcore fans were sick of Pirates of the Caribbean. I mainly put him in here for practice at writing characters with a different way of speaking. -Yep, Leader-1 wants Aaron Archer. That is the plot. -Now for one of my favorites: the Pretty Tree disguise. I frankly love everything about this scene. It has exposition, it has this laughably bad disguise that would fool no one fooling everyone, and Spay-C with doofy lines. But enough of tooting my own horn, I still just really like how this scene turned out. -W. is singing (bad) parody lyrics for the Touch. -Suddenly giant monster. They are quite common in the ocean between DC and New York...Can you tell I was paying no mind to geography when I wrote this? -Hey, the first anime attack! More on that next time. Also, Star the Wanderer shows up. Like my brother, I used a figure I happened to have at the time. This one stuck for the longest time, though I did later change to the black version later. Like Archangel, he has a different toy used in ATTF#1 and once TAOWAR is over, if/when he appears he'll be using that toy. Tomorrow: The Safehouse, even more new characters, and a muppet! |
https://i.imgur.com/KH52Lrp.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/fee6z6j.jpg https://i.imgur.com/3R8j8t5.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zSL9SQo.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9mMSg8b.jpg -The Safehouse aka the 2003 TMNT Lair. This became the main set for Filler Funnies, specials, etc. for most of the run. I believe much later I reveal that this is actaully the lair the Turtles used, but they had already moved out. -Yes, Yoda is in this comic and he is a long time supporting character. He even gets some fights later. Much like Jack, I was trying to find characters that talk different. -It's mentioned later on in this comic, but this Scarlett is not THE Scarlet, she is the original Scarlet's daughter. This Scarlett's real name is Renee O'Hara. I do more with her later, but for now she's mainly just Star's girlfriend and sidekick. -Kai Blast: I've been calling them anime attacks up until now. I don't remember why I went with Kai Blast, but I know I was aiming for something easy to remember and cliche sounding. -Now for even more characters! Think the comic has too many character yet? Too bad, there's more coming! -So GI Joe...I never explained them in the comic proper. I made a one off comic explaining them, but I frankly find it a dry read. It's a comic that I'll probably only post if end up posting every comic. All you need to know is GI Joe was reformed privately. That Duke is not THE Duke or related in any way. The rest are the original characters. They're here to be the heroes to are defeated by the big bad. -Once again this is the re-edit. The original has basically the same lines explaining the Kai Blasts, but I went back and made it more closely resemble the final format of Kai Blasts. There were originally just the 4 Elements. I also added colors. -Now I remember why I kept the name Kai Blast. Because I wanted Yoda to say KB Toys. -I'll be commenting on Kai Blasts as they appear proper. -Because the umbrella wasn't enough, W. had to have a plunger. I also mentioned I reused that Zelda gag to soon. Here it is. -Oh look, the bad also has a Kai Blast in the comic to introduces the concept, what a shocker. Also, no, you're not going to see it yet. -Perfect Fatal Blast is based on the Spirit Ball (not bomb) from Dragon Ball. It's simple and useful. Aside from Blade's Kai Blast, it might be the most used. I believe the the extra effects in panel were added in the re-edit. Original just had the ball forming -The Libertas and Aether terms were added in the re-edit. I don't think it's ever explained better, but Aether is the Element of the soul. Think of it as the non-elemental. -And now the comic turns into MST3K for the rest of the comic. I had no idea how to end this one on a funny note, so this happened. Tomorrow: THERE WILL BE RUM. |
https://i.imgur.com/kVuLzj9.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/84gxAw5.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zv0s9pq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ckWju5a.jpg And bonus for today, the one Filler Funny I mentioned before. https://i.imgur.com/sIi1bp2.jpg -Kai Blast: Destructive Hand of Unicron. This Kai Blast is an in joke with my brother. For a few years I had Armada Unicron on a shelf next to be door and every time he walked into my room he had to light up Unicron's hand and yelling "Burning Finger!" So of course when it was time to give him a Kai Blast it was going to be this. So yeah, this is based on the Burning/God Gundam's Burning/God Finger attack, but with an Unicron element added to it. -The cross eyed was a happy accident found in editing. -And now Roger talks because I can't go one comic without a new character. Roger is just a side character that is just there. At some point I planned for him to be writing the comic, but I never did anything with it. -Suddenly, rum. So this is the everybody gets drunk issue. Enjoy -Every so often I allow Yoda to break his sentence structure. He does it once here and I don't think I let him do it again until near the end. -The Jedi mind trick joke still puts a smile on my face. -Kai Blast: Stone Passion Wack. This is the joke Kai Blast. W. uses it to better effect later on as the real version of it forms a rock in front of the plunger and throws it. Basically, W. has the power to throw rocks. Also, the pose is generally a magical girl pose. -Drunken Yoda is the best. He talks correctly and uses slang. Also, he burns things. -Kai Blast: Metallic Summoning Execution. You thought the comic had to many characters before? Blade's Kai Blast is a character generator! MWHAHA! Surprisingly there's only been 9 different summons so far. So yeah, it's a summoning technique. Blade can summon many different Water (and a couple of Ice) based Transformers. The Kai Blast itself is based on my love for Final Fantasy summons and the visual scroll + blood of Naruto summons. -First Summon: Seaspray. Thing to note about Summoned TFs is that most are my own versions of the characters, so they will acted differently sometimes. Like here, Seaspray's entire personality is says "my bubbles," a line from Finding Nemo. One day I might upgrade him to the TR toy, but the personality is likely to stay. -You may ask if Blade Raider is me. The answer is yes, but I don't drink. There are no other differences. (There's a lot of other differences) -The narrator has some meta jokes here. I probably should've just cut al that. -The Filler Funny. Doesn't look important, does it? Like that Gnome C-what was his name again? Either way, he's a is a completely forgettable side character. Seriously though, Gnome Prime (as I properly named him later) is a background for the rest of season 1 and gets a bigger role in season 2. Also, Tomorrow: Does the comic not have enough Transformers or Transformers fans for you? Lucky for you tomorrow Botcon 2007...as a tournament arc. |
https://i.imgur.com/BSCr7iY.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/wIMkfSn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/3QFjQnq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/AThcTnS.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KcjNuTR.jpg https://i.imgur.com/38otlYL.jpg -I said I wasn't going to edit anything beyond spelling errors, I lied. However, I will give my reasons why when we get to those lines. -This is the first comic to have colored narration boxes as all the characters recap events. I do this a few times. I may have to re-edit some down the line to make them readable, but the ones here seem to be okay. -Second Summon: Deepdive. The submarine Minicon from Cybertron. His personality is mafia thug. Forgot to mention last time that the first 3 Summons have full profile pages in the same format as W. and Claw. -I mentioned that the re-edit from years ago created a plot hole. Here it is. In the re-edit, Yoda says Blade can't summon the set until he's summoned all 5. 2 are currently summoned when this line is said. I fixed it, changed to the training being completed once all were summoned. I would've changed it back to the original line, but it's been lost over the years. -Third Summon: Shortround. Hey, look who's here! Aside from those that appear in ATTF #1, Shortround is the only other character to appear in both comics (in fact, ATTF #32 is a re-edit of a Filler Funny). I love this character. He breaks the 4th wall in that he sees everything as a toy. Of course, he's based on the tiny bio Hasbro gave him. Like Seaspray and Deepdive, he has a profile, but Shortround has a double page one. -I sadly didn't use the Galaxy Force News Report as much as I wanted. Still love the name though. -Aaron Archer. Yeah, I started running out of toys. I knew Aaron Archer had designed Optimus Minor so I used that. If I had known that he designed all the Jar Jar toys, I would've used that instead. -I believe the Angry Archer reference was always there as the character was revealed at Botcon 07 and this comic was made after. -Forum character: HMRC4EVR. If you know of any of the people the forum characters are based on, it's probably Headmaster Don here. Like with Archer, I was running low on toys and I finally used Energon Arcee and said he was the Headmaster. If I made this today, it would be TR Arcee, of course. -Side note, I just realized I've been mispelling HMRC4EVR's screen name for 11 years! Much like "Go-Bots" I'm not willing fix all those errors. -The panel talking about how the Headmaster-ing works is the other panel I changed. Why? Because it was a bad line and implies something that shouldn't be implied. If this line had been Blade or W. I would've left it alone, but I put the line in a friend's mouth and I didn't like that. -The hat gag is something that happens in real life...I regret nothing. Also, this might be the only time you see Archangel without the hat on. -More random side characters with BBBB and Little Zaku. They aren't based on anyone, just here to move things forward. -Oh god, 5 more forum characters. Haven't seen a lot of these guys in ages. The only one of these I still talk to on a regular basis is Paladin. Once again I was running low on toys, otherwise I would've made them Joes. Agent X lasts the longest in the comic , but only because he ran a different comic on the same forum. I treat him as an extra W. Why? because I hate myself like that. -For those that might not remember, at Botcon 07 they screened the 07 Transformers movie a couple of weeks before the release everywhere. -If I remember correctly the original idea was to have a tournament arc here regardless to let everyone get use to the Kai Blasts. The Botcon theming came after I had gotten back and wanted to do both ideas. Honestly I think it works fairly well in the plotline. Tommorrow, the first 4 rounds of the tournament and an uninvited guest! |
https://i.imgur.com/5WdtArK.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/q4uO4mY.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tkPeMMp.jpg https://i.imgur.com/94huDBE.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yObxmyw.jpg -Blade's lines about being disabled, please ignore them. It will be explained much, much later. It's bad writing. -The background for the tournament is the back side of the TMNT lair playset used for the Safe House. -Round 1: is straight forward. Star, who by the way did not actually go with us to Botcon that year but is here because he's a core cast character, wins because Archangel is new at this. Simple as that. -There is a 2 panel verison of most of the main character's Kai Blasts, just for drama flare. This is mostly dropped later on. -Round 2: If you haven't figured it out Metalsamamon was a MISB collector, hence the box. He's Kai Blast is the Wargreymon attack Terra Force, which is a real attack from Digimon. From time to time I'll do that. -Round 3: Simple sword fight and I think it's one of the only battle without a Kai Blast in it. -Round 4: Paladin has a Kai Blast named in the next comic. Honestly didn't think this through with these figures. A lot of them have limited articulation, so Paladin gets one that doesn't need him to move a lot. He takes Agent X down fast and we're all okay with that. -I still like the arm and leg joke. That broken Go-Bot toy was made for this scene. -Who could possibly be pointing at the Leader-1?! I mean, that Claw could be anyone! Tomorrow: Semifinals. Plus, every single new character introduced is a Transformer. |
https://i.imgur.com/0sHoArt.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/TOGmYGI.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ZuwfzV8.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HRBrsGr.jpg -Once again keeping fights short and fast. -Round 1: Did I mention Wing Zero is British. -Round 2: Silent Death is basically a invisibility Kai Blast. I like opponents like this that have a simple gimmick that I can play around with. The use of ink is a simple way to address the gimmick to while bringing in the 4th summon. -Summon Character 4: Claw Jaw. He's based on Frog from Chrono Trigger. specifically original English translation that gave him a knight's speech pattern. You're gonna see a lot of Chrono Trigger references in TAOWAR. You might be wondering why not give this personality to Spittor, the frog. Simple, I didn't have a useable toy of Spittor at the time and frankly I wanted the personality to go to one of my favorite toys. -Claw Jaw is the first summon to have a Kai Blast. Most of the others have one to. -This also starts how summons work in battle. When they are K.O.ed, they just poof back to wherever they go. This stops them from being killed. -Round 3: Yeah, I took myself out in the semifinals. I figured no one could complain if the 2 characters that weren't actually there in real life were in the finals. -The first time the "organization" and "the Master" are mentioned. That term will be confusing later. Also learn Leader-1 is a rogue agent. -By the time Season 2 starts, all but 2 Botcon '07 exclusive figures appear in TAOWAR. Ironically the 2 that have not made it into a comic are the only 2 I still own. So that Springer and Seekers, long gone. -Box Set Name Drop. -And now there's the B.i.S., the Bots in Silver. Yet another group shows up and like GI Joe I never got to focus enough on it. They are basically reserve Men in Black. Instead of hiding aliens from the world, they go to other worlds to track down their own. Because Transformers live on Earth they aren't hiding from the public at all. Tomorrow: The finals, some pirating, and more lore to explain what a Go-Bot. |
https://i.imgur.com/4bIxCml.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/Ng24N9M.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tDWpvnc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UguMotx.jpg -Hey look, a fight between characters from the same franchise, how novel. -I think in one panel, a part of Thundercracker's flight stand can still be seen. -The code name for X-Brawn is X-B because I realized that one of the forum characters was named Agent X. -Random grunts that aren't bad guys doing the fun random grunt thing I love so much. I still have one of these figures because he's the driver to the R.O.C.C. being stolen and that is one of my 2 favorite GI Joe vehicles. -So I guess I did add a little more on GI Joe in the main comic. I forgot I name dropped Mr. Saxon here. If you know what that name is a reference to, you are correct. -So I have Jack Sparrow and Yoda stealing from GI Joe. This is some of the stuff I missed from TAOWAR. This wouldn't have happen naturally in ATTF's one comic one story format. This happens because it moves the plot forward. -Yes, I am totally ripping off the first Pirates movie here and that's part of the fun. -Final Round: TO THE DEATH! Yeah, this is a joke fight. -I sort of wish I kept the Action Shovel around. Imagine the Shovel Knight jokes I could make. The umbrella comes back later, but I don't think the shovel does. -Who yelled to kill him anyways? I like to think it was me. Not Blade, me, the writer. -Lore time. I didn't know much about Go-Bots, not the origin story or anything, so I made something up that fit in the universe. Normally I like to transplant fiction as cleanly as possible, but here I decided to do something else because I wasn't familiar. -Also, while I'm on the subject of in universe changes to fiction, Transformers have all already downscaled after the war ended in the 90's. That's basically the Maximal and Predacon upgrade, but without the name change (Maximals and Predacons exist as different factions). None of this is in the comic, just my behind the scenes logic. -So Go-Bots are the term for Transformer actors in TAOWAR and also Transformers from Gobotron, which is just a colony of Cybertron. -One thing I will mention here is that in universe, Shortround is a Go-Bot in that he's an actor. It's talked about in his profile. I have decided that those profiles will be posted once I know they won't have spoilers in them. Shortround's profile was my favorite of them, by the way. -The destruction of Gobotron is something from a story line that I will probably never make, but I will leave the hints of it in just in case never becomes today. -I just now noticed Blade's scabbard is not the normal one. I forgot I used this one. -"Caribbean Crawdad" is my favorite wrong Desert Claw name. That honestly sounds like something Desert Claw's brother would be named...hmm...note the self. Tomorrow: Lots of fighting as we end this little side arc. |
https://i.imgur.com/P84CRWz.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/Karzy73.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Cp9lQ7j.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VIGKEYa.jpg -First panel is a Kai Blast. Dreadwind's Kai Blast just splits everyone into pairs. This one just exists to be a plot device for one-on-one fights. -Most of the fighting is off panel. Mostly characters that have had a couple of fights already. -W's dramatic flair is based on Sailor Moon's catch phrase. -I think this is the only time W. legit wins a fight. -Weirdwolf's Kai Blast is just a fist attack to go up against Archangel's fist attack. -Archangel's dramatic flair is, of course, based on Domon's catch phrase from G Gundam. Of these dramatic flair lines, Archangel had the best one. -Hey, Rock Lee is doing something. Shame his toy sucks so I can't show any of it. I do like the ninja way line though. It's so dumb. -Kai Blast: Cog of Fate. I was being literal with that name. Leader-1 didn't have a modern toy until recently, so I made his power set summoning based. The Cog just seemed to be a good match for Leader-1 and worked with what I was needing. I believe I might not have considered it a Kai Blast or just thought Leader-1 didn't know what Kai Blasts were at the time, hence his way of explaining it. -Blade and Tuskie in a sword fight...and Blade loses said sword fight. -Blade's dramatic flair is straight up just Darkwing Duck's catchphrase. Wish I had done something to it. -Yeah, I ended Blade's battle with Shortround. I really like Shortround transforming another Transformer as if he was a toy. -Leader-1 can transform! Leader-1's flight stand is one of the worst hidden. I did that on the re-edit. Speaking of, I believe this was the last re-edited comic. Expect smaller font tomorrow. -So the Seekers and Agent X-B are out, either captured or injured. Sadly, Agent X-B hasn't appeared again, just haven't had the chance to use him. Agent S will be back though and I'm not not with Weirdwolf or Dreadwind just yet. -Final joke for the arc is of course sneaking a reference to the movie joke about W. Tommorrow: Things slow down as the gang regroups and plans for the final battle. Also, the beginning of setting up future stories. |
Oh what the heck, here's some Filler Funnies (2-6). Most of the early ones are in continuity, but none are important.
First one is right before the Botcon arc. https://i.imgur.com/tOtLtJE.jpg #3 is when the comic changed forums to the Axalon Underground and this was just the silly joke for the switch. https://i.imgur.com/6x5JLVw.jpg The last 3 for today are really dumb jokes for the first Transformers movie taking place at the end of the Botcon arc. Personally I think the first one is the best of these. https://i.imgur.com/IgGYNLs.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QhwZV05.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tsdUliC.jpg I'd post more now, but 7-9 all take place in the next arc and make reference to the status quo of that arc. Side note, 9 is one of my all time favorites and yes I will be posting it when we get there. |
https://i.imgur.com/WtqjnFL.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/q2JYdY7.jpg https://i.imgur.com/x2fDyQG.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QGk0KYN.jpg https://i.imgur.com/of7DRDa.jpg -This is when I made it a rule that only a select few characters knew they were in a comic, maybe W. -Star and Archangel really should've been reversed in this scene. Star is more likely to make the Trek joke and probably knows more about cars than Archangel in real life. -That Cookie Monster picture is something Wolfangel drew. She had given me a pack of cardboard and this drawing was randomly in it, so I decided to use it. -Call back to the Village People and Gung-Ho line from arc 2. Also an excuse to do the YMCA poses with these toys. -A recap of all of Blade's summons including showing off the Kai Blasts of Seaspray and Deepdive. I won't go over the Kai Blasts here because frankly the comic explains them. They get used in fights later. There is no useless summon. -There's a mention of Shortround not taking much damage because he's the same Element as the attack. I never go into full details on those, but have a text file on them. All you really need to know is Fire and Water are weak to each other and Wind and Earth are weak to each other. -Here's when Gnome Prime comes back. I don't think he really does anything until season 2, he's just a background character. -For a couple of issues here I forgot to give Claw Jaw the knightly lines. I don't know why. -Roger is here to be a blogging droid and get W. out of Blade's hair for the next event. -New character...who isn't named until next time. Let's call her Thief for now. Thief is made of Microman (In this case Micro Lady) parts. I was new to importing toys and this is what I could make with the blank bodies. Her figure changes a few times (all of which are better if you ask me) as Microman toys of that era were far more brittle their GI Joe counterparts. Anyways, she came from my desire to have another woman in the cast with different goals. -Oh look, it's Team Rock-Arm Bullet and Gasket. Using the Japanese name on these characters because I watched Galaxy Force over Cybertron. -Arm Bullet's Kai Blast is what he uses in the anime. -Summon character: Terragator. Since each Summon has a use, Terragator was an obvious choice. Giant shield. Also, I like that toy. He has a huge range of motion on 3 of his 4 limbs. Plus he's half turtles. Turtles are awesome. -I love this Team Rocket bit. It's in character to. They had those fans in the show. I did a similar bit once in ATTF with Soundwaves. That was weird comic. Don't get to use to them. This duo doesn't really do anything after this. I might bring them back one day as I do still have these guys. -Thief gets shot here. Aside from the summoning scroll, I think this is the first time there's been any blood. This being more of an action comedy comic at the time, it's barely there. Just enough to get the point across. Much later that changes some. Tomorrow: The plot thickens, confusing names, and my unresolved issues with my past work. |

https://i.imgur.com/adelfyc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jL38bDc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/StzS7e6.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jSl3JLe.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TJuS58a.jpg -I apparently have unresolved issues with this comic. Please enjoy me bitching about how awful I think half of this comic is. (Note: I'm partly playing it up for laughs so please don't think I'm being hard on myself) -My god this scene can be read as super creepy. -I just realized what Claw Jaw did off panel would look like...I wrote this with the intent of him playing the part of half a medic (the other half being Blade's Joe training). Just for the record. If you don't know what I'm implying, good. -So Thief is topless. I will defend this part as, you know, clothes get in the way of treating wounds. And yes, just topless. -Well, and the gloves were removed, but that's for a different reason. Those gloves are Thief's Mystic Aids. -The worthwild part of this scene is Blade getting hit in the back of the head with that briefcase. He deserved that. -See, he even says he deserved it...and then follows up with a douchy excuse. Hit him again Thief! I hate that line. I almost changed it to, but no, I'm eating crow here. That line is awful. -So this scene was my attempt at some anime pervy comedy. Something you'd see in early Dragon Ball or Tenchi Muyo or the like. I think it almost works, but what doesn't work I find in poor taste now. If I had cut Claw Jaw and that one line, I think it would be okay. I will defend the briefcase to the head part though. That part works and if it stopped there, it would be so much better. How it it though, Blade comes off as kind of a jackass. -I do like the thank you part here just because I find a lot of anime do forget that part and it makes both characters look bad. -So Destro is still around. That can't be good. Why yes, I'm trying to change the subject. -Thief is making a Rider 1 henshin pose here. That was completely unintentional. I knew what Kamen Rider was, but wasn't familiar with Rider 1 yet. -Kai Blast: Seal/Release. It's explained later how it works so let's talk about what it's based on...Fullmetal Alchemist hand clap + pocket dimension. Done. Sorry, I'm still kind of mad at myself-I mean Blade. I do love this Kai Blast though. Thief has a stock pile of stolen weapons she can summon. It's versatile. -Blazing Sword. I wish I had come up with a better name for these, but I didn't. They never even catch fire. I just couldn't think of anything better at the time. -AND THEN THEY FIGHT! (I said the thing) -Stop hitting on her, Blade. You already copped a feel. Kick his ass, Thief! -Oh thank baby Jesus, it's something else. W. and...a Smurf. What?! This is the first time this Smurf ever appears. He appears in Filler Funnies later in Tom and Jerry like strips, but where he came from? Never explained. -GP is like the Smurf, except he does come from somewhere and is going places someday. -Searching for the Black Pearl. Can I read that comic instead? Okay, this is actually a good scene. I'm just salty now. -If I wanted to, I could bring back Spay-C and Dreadwind with modern toys. I think they make a cute duo and this is the only scene they share. -Confusing term time. One of the "Masters" (later called the Four Masters in this comic) is being sent. THE Master is the leader of the organization. I should've renamed something here. -I like to think Blade is being kicked in the balls right around this point. -So Cobra is also still around. That can't be good. -Kai Blast: Diamond Touch. Had to get Wolfangel one. She uses Earth so that I don't ever have to make W's useful again. Diamond Touch turns things into diamonds. Simple as that. I honestly don't think it was inpired by anything. I just needed a Kai Blast for her. -The PS3 line is a reference to a stunt my brother pulled to propose to Wolfangel...I guess that's a spoiler to real life? -A tie?! Ugh, I hate myself-I mean Blade. Remember, Thief is wounded. She would've totally kicked Blade's ass if not for that. -Oh yeah, her name is Thief. Yeah, I was hiding it in plain sight in these notes. There is a reason why she's called that. I might share it later, but it's a nerdy reference that I think some people could guess. -"Thief, huh?" You little cliche weaboo shit. -New character: Ceus. I think I took the the Latin word for purple and shorten it. I just needed her to not be named Arcee and needed a bike and partner thief. -Did I mention there was time travel? And mixed time travel to. Here we have the Back to the Future kind while name dropping Time Lords. -This story is picked back up between seasons 1 and 2 is Tales of the Time Thief. I wanted Thief to stand on her own and not be just "the girl." Honestly, I think it's a better intro to her than this. -Back to the better comic, time for good cop/bad cop. I wanted Archangel and Wolfangel to have more panel time together. I actually love everything about this scene. The failure bit, the off screen cat, the way they finally talk. Good stuff. -Oh look who's here, Mr. "I Got Hit With This Briefcase and Met a Girl." Ugh, and you're talking about Family Guy to. You disgust me. -Exposition Trooper, the second best kind of trooper. The organization is now named. DE-MOS just sounds cool (plus, it's Latin for demon). It's spoken as "DE" as in "decapitate" and "MOS" as in "Cosmos". If you ever forget, remember "DEcapitate CosMOS"...what is wrong with me tonight? -Leader-1, the Minicon, is here. It had to happen. What's funny is I don't think I got one until Botcon 07. -Oh great, now Agent X is back...screw it, I'm transferring all my hate to him. It's the only why I can survive! -I've spent most of this issue wishing bodily harm on myself. I now know why people make themselves Mary Sues. Tomorrow: The Master and the Masters master the art of mastering who are the Masters while baiting the Master. |
Bonus Filler Funnies today. I meant to post this earlier, but got busy. Tonight will be the next comic.
First one was done to showcase the customizing I did between issues. It's mostly accent colors related the the character's Element, but the biggest change is Archangel's hat is finally green and white like the real world hat my brother wears at cons (and yes, it's Bleach hat). https://i.imgur.com/cifiAPs.jpg Second comic is just silliness and one of the rare times a Kai Blast is used in a Filler Funny. https://i.imgur.com/V0GYj3N.jpg |
https://i.imgur.com/W5WwTrK.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/kA1HwRS.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Itlwcy1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BrT2qlI.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LHYVOBi.jpg -If that logo on the chair looks familiar, that's the Logo in the top left corner of any of the covers ATTF has. It is the DE-MOS logo. -You didn't think I forgot to put in Bugbite the Go-Bot in this plot about Go-Bots, did you? Honestly, he was written in late. Otherwise he would've been in the Botcon arc. -Bugbite is one of the Four Masters and the one mentioned last time. 4 four are seen by the end of the season. -Who is THE Master? He's a random collection of Joe parts I had lying around. No, you're not going to get a better answer out of me then that right now. -The background in THE Master's room is the insert background form Lio Convoy's box. -"Holy father of Prima" is one of those made up Transformer swears I always hoped would catch on and I still use it today. -Technobabble technobabble technobabbleup. It's all to set up the next season. Is it important? Yeah, it's just exposition for a different, or rather larger, story. -Agent S being able to use the chips means that yes, he will be in season 2. -There's a plot hole here that I can't talk about until later. -W's speech had to happen. It's literally happening on July 4th and he's a President. All it needed it to be is full on hammy and I think it did it's job well. -FINALLY! Someone said it! The villains collectively call the heroes the "Bush Raiders." It's the joke that keeps on giving. It is never explained, no one every laughs, no one except Blade ever reacts to that name as anything but a name. At the time I was planning to start calling them TAOWAR in season 2 with a forced acronym like DE-MOS has. Bush Raiders was just going to be the joke name until the real name was put in. The group is never called TAOWAR. Not once. -I kept Weirdwolf around for one reason, I wanted him and Yoda to fight. -And so the final battle begins. This was a similar to the first Go-Bots fight, but the idea to make it different here was to follow W. as he broke through the enemy forces while interacting with most of the characters. I feel it could be better, mainly with some odd angles, but I think it can be followed well enough. If nothing else, it was fun to make. Tomorrow: Yoda vs Weirdwolf and fighting in the Oval Office! |
You may be wondering what THE Master is doing right about now. Well, I have a Filler Funny for that and it's one of my favorites.

https://i.imgur.com/XBtAhcp.jpg https://i.imgur.com/IibfkZm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/q9db8Lp.jpg https://i.imgur.com/gKepZnG.jpg -Starting with Yoda and Weirdwolf. Weird Fist gets an effect this time. While I wouldn't call it great, it's better than no effect like last time. -Kai Blast: Lightning Force. It's just a form of force lightning on the sword. If you haven't noticed, a lot of the enemies and side characters get Kai Blasts that are there just to move the fight along. -Weirdwolf is beheaded. I can't remember if I went with this because he was a Headmaster or because it was the only thing I could take off the body. Might've been both. Either way, he's treated as dead. If you don't like that, pretend the Weirdwolf in that one ATTF is this Weirdwolf afterwards. -Sort of Kai Blast: Wrecking with Power. It's the same thing that Hot Shot does when he uses his Cyber Key, so I guess it counts. Either way, heavy arms moments are always fun. -In a random moment of character growth, Tuskie objects to being an executioner. I honestly think Tuskie might've been happy the Bush Raiders showed up. -How is it that I have 2 Leader-1s in this comic and they aren't the confusing names? -So yeah, the Minicon is a junior. I'm sure someone saw that coming. Also, I'm sure someone out there guessed that Rollbar was just there to die. -Had to get one rhyme out of Roadblock. He's one of my favorite Joes after all. -Even Leader-1, uhhh the Go-Bot, thinks things have gone to far. Meanwhile Bugbite is going to force a fight however he can. Did Cy-Kill leave Leader-1 behind? I honestly don't know. -I like Shortround's line about Bugbite. He was the least wanted in the set at the time. -C-C-Combo time! Okay, this is actually one of my favorite things to do in fights. Characters stringing together attacks to beat the living crap out of something. In this case it ends with the Cog getting cut in half. And not in the way Ratchet can fix. Tomorrow: The final battle against Leader-1! |

https://i.imgur.com/hVt5Bd3.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5VQ7ymc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/aH7VfH1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5NCi79B.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jZgv42p.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KSJ74Xo.jpg -Oh hey, There is a little more of Arm Bullet and Gasket. I forgot. -The Renegades aka I did it first Hasbro! This is a group of Joes from the early 90's. The ones I had as a kid. -Captain Grid-Iron > Duke. At the very least better than the Duke in this comic. -Couple of Forum Characters are here as well mainly to give Wing Zero an attack that works. -Don't worry about Spay-C. He isn't dead. He's a zombie. -I want to use Stretcher again some day. The idea of him using a stretcher as a weapon/shield/etc. is great. -So Leader-1 got a power up. That's the Justice League Watch Tower playset. Fun fact: I use to display it between Unicron and Primus both in planet mode...think about that. -I destroyed a screen shot of ID4 for that effect. -So yeah, we have some more minions for Leader-1 here. -For something different I decided Claw should fight someone else other then W. Also, the scorpion drone from Arc 1 is under Claw's command now. -Kai Blast: Midas Claw. Yeah, Claw gets one. It's based on the ability of Soi Fong has in Bleach that's an instant death attack if it hits twice. Here I combined it with the Midas touch. -Claw Jaw is talking correctly again...while fighting Mousers. -That droid came with the flame parts. I set up the fight just to use them. It would look great if not for that huge stand in the shot. Why did I never make more of an effort to crop thos out? -The MASSIVE ONE POINT OF ARTICULATION droid became a recurring character in Filler Funnies and specials. He's so unabashedly one note that I loved using him whenever I could. -W is being useful again...it just feels wrong. -"Buttons" I think we all know where this is going. -I forgot a to comment on the Weather Channel back at the beginning of the Botcon arc. At the time Archangel would always be watching the Weather Channel and pretty rarely anything else. We loved giving him shit about that. His come back was always "there's never reruns." -Anyways, I love this small talk while waiting on an elevator in the middle of a battle joke. It cuts the tension in all the right ways. -Yep, "buttons." I also like W. whistling nonchalantly while walking away. Tomorrow: The Season 1 finale. Twists and turns and the real final battle. Also, Blade's awful, awful, hat. |
And now the season 1 finale.
https://i.imgur.com/9puG47t.jpg https://i.imgur.com/YrXMqpm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/nBsqEKP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/i4DjvfY.jpg https://i.imgur.com/fQb5Usn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Iym5z9t.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KtQv08L.jpg https://i.imgur.com/uXSFMf4.jpg https://i.imgur.com/guoqH34.jpg -Bill Clinton is here. Why? Because I figured I should make fun of both sides. I think this is the only time he ever appears. -I do love this Stretcher bit. Seriously wished I used him more. -Oh yeah, did I mention the Renegades are made up of Blade's old squad? Inserting Blade into the squad I watched as a kid is probably one of the more Mary Sue thing I've done with him. -And this is why Midas Claw is a thing. I had a Golden Jack Sparrow toy and wanted to use it. Rollbar's death felt cheap so I decided to add an extra loss to the heroes with this. -So THE Master is dead. That pizza joke is his longest appearance. Guess he was just a filler boss for Cobra Commander. What a waste *whistles nonchalantly* -Cobra Commander name drops the next arc. -A nice call back to the "not-I'm Mary Poppins y'all" joke. I also like Blade admiting he sucks at his job. -And Bugbite is the final boss. I mean, he is one of the Four Masters. He also found Weirdwolf's sword gun thing so he'd have a weapon. -Kai Blast: Mind Storm. This is overpowered, but only because I wanted to end on a one-on-one fight. I don't think it's based on anything, I just needed it to happen. I want to say mind control was in Bugbite's Botcon bio or the Botcon comic. -Command Line. I needed for Blade to have something special. The original idea was armor. I wanted to use a MSiA Gundam Astray Red Frame as armor but didn't have it. Thought about using the Kicker figure, but didn't for some reason. Eventually I used a modded Transmetal Rattrap...you might be thinking "that's not Rattrap" and you are correct. The sword I was using with Rattrap broke while shooting the comic. The alternate fight scene will be posted next time. -The toy I ended up using in the final comic, High Score 100, was a rush job to finish the comic. I have named this form the Boomeraider. Next time Boomeraider appears it has a completely new paint job. -Command Line itself is a reference to the show ReBoot where Matrix could issue voice commands to his gun using that phrase. It's also the old green a black computer interface which seemed right for the type of thing it is. -The "henshin," of course, comes from Kamen Rider (and Japanese Beast Wars). I was watching Kamen Rider Kabuto at the time. That show had so much style with it's transformations and I wanted that. -Adapted Darkwing Duck's bit for this. This was much better than just stealing the other catchphrase. -Speaking of Darkwing Duck, check out that mistake of a hat. What was I thinking with that hat and cape?! If Boomeraider wasn't such a good name, I'd call this Hipster form. -Everything Blade tells Bugbite about Command Line is bull shit. In season 2, Command Line is explained in much greater detail. Everything here is just me trying to make it clear that Blade isn't a full on Transformer. -One thing I like about this version of the fight is the summon combo. It's not in the alternate fight. -Once I knew Bugbite was the final boss, I planned for him to go out this way, gun downed by the whole cast after losing an arm (I love ball socket joints). -And now the other 3 Masters: Lord Zedd, Baroness, and Darth Malak. Bugbite is replaced next season. I always enjoyed making Zedd and Malak fight. -Hehe...Stretcher makes a Cowboy Bebop reference. -Oh god that hat. It's even worse on the normal Blade figure! -Oh hey, I guess Agent X-B did appear again. This is the last time though. -Just tying up loose ends here while having fun with a press conference. -I love that there's a note about me not forgetting a plot point followed by a foreshadowing scene I DID forget about. Thankfully, I have found a way to address it in the finale. -Credits. Neat idea, but dumb for this comic. What can I say? I wanted a post credits scene. -Remember that plot hole I mentioned? Yeah, Blade has a computer inside him and Archangel knows about it, but doesn't mention it. I had already planned this before that, I just should've wrote it better to foreshadow the twist or had someone else say it. -I think this is where it becomes clear that there isn't a good starting point other than the beginning. As of right now this paradox has not been resolved and I can not allow myself to continue with new stories of these characters until I'm finished with it. Next Time: Alternate final battle and Filler Funnies 10-14. I plan to take the weekend off, so expect those Monday night. |
Today is a few little things.
https://i.imgur.com/OmlUS6G.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BnvKV11.jpg -So I think I've explained what happened to this fight last time, so I won't repeat myself here. Instead, I'm going to mention that I do consider both fights canon in that Blade does have both forms and it doesn't really matter which one is in the finale other than the fact that this one is missing a couple of panels to end it properly. -Also, you can see some flight stands in this as I didn't want to go to the trouble of removing them for a deleted scene. -At some point I re-customized the Rattrap. If I ever use the form in a new comic, I'll be using the update as it had some come new things like a head crest and the tail connected to the backpack (It helps with balance, which is how the sword broke in the first place). https://i.imgur.com/fUz1zOV.jpg -Think this is the first Filler Funny with little to no connection with the comic. Later ones don't even have a TAOWAR character in it at all. -This one was born out of me owning Final Fantasy VIII toys and not knowing what to do with them since they are in a completely different scale than everything else I own (even today). Plus, I just really wanted to use the dialogue boxes. I just wish I had trusted myself to do it without the stands. https://i.imgur.com/AAehOCZ.jpg -A little St. Patrick's Day comic. I would've saved it to post on the holiday but that's 11 months from now. Fun fact, at the time a forum member I knew didn't get the joke because he lives in a country without the pinching thing. https://i.imgur.com/k6zx28w.jpg -This was based on a game night that happened. -The 4 at the table are Forum Characters. It's been a while and I honestly don't remember which figure went to who off the top of my head. -Starting here the Filler Funnies are considered non-canon-ish. The intent was they all just take place in a time skip after season 2, but some just will not be able to fit. https://i.imgur.com/6E8QDEV.jpg -Forum character: Roadbuster. This is the first of a few Tom and Jerry hunt the Smurf like comics. Roadbuster just happened to be the star of most of them. https://i.imgur.com/BPVAsjw.jpg -Much like FF7, this one is to switch Lord Zedd's toy to the then new Super Legends Lord Zedd toys. I do not own either of these toys anymore, though oddly enough, I do have a 4" Lord Zedd now...and have never used it in the comics. I have some family things happening right now. It's the not good kind that I could use a distraction from, so I'm going to try to keep on schedule, but if I miss a night, that's why. Next Time: The spin-off Tales of the Time Thief. I had made a teaser image for it back in the day, so might as well use it again. https://i.imgur.com/Ebrnxmq.jpg |
I have places to be tomorrow evening, so I won't be posting tomorrow night, but tonight I'm posting 2 comics which happen to be a full story. I had already wrote the notes before deciding this, so some notes might be phrased as if there's a day between them.
https://i.imgur.com/5XNr2Ch.jpg https://i.imgur.com/FWiSDSN.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2Qav9Zm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/u1WerDX.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oMRuxcf.jpg -These comics was made right after the first arc of season 2, so some of the effect upgrades and the like are already in use (like motion blurs instead of lines in fights). I'm placing it here because it flows better here then in the middle of things later. -That teaser took place between the cold open and the first scene. I had a new Thief toy to use and it made since narratively to get her in warmer clothes. -I don't think you ever see this version of Thief without the tunic on. Shame because there's a cool blue shirt under there that breaks up the black and white. I changed her again later because this one can't used the different hands (I had to photoshop it once or twice). One day I may use this one again when she doesn't need to use Seal/Release much. -The "perverted little imp" is not Blade, but really should be. -So where are we? We're at the End of Time. I always intended for it to be that, but never wanted to commit to the name in case I wanted something different, but I know it will be called by name later so might as while name it now. -So Heinlad has a bar. Why? The toy came with sake and he has time powers. He's kind of perfect for a bartender at the End of Time. -If you were wondering where Huffer from the Botcon 07 set was, here he is. The last two, Alpha Trion and clear Mirage have never been used and are the only 2 I still own. -New character: Empp (Imp with a strong "p" sound at the end). I wanted to make a character that is just an asshole to everyone except Thief who's also super powerful so others have to put up with him. I made him tiny because Navi from Zelda jokes were a thing (probably still are). Empp refers to Thief as "My Lady" to note that he is loyal to her. He picks insulting nicknames and the like for everyone else. -So on the topic of "My Lady" I could never get a super clear answer on the best way to phrase it. I feel "Milady" probably gets the point across better in text form, but My Lady was the term I choose and I don't plan to change it because from what I understand they are both acceptable. -All of Empp's spells are writern in Predacon and I believe they translate into Latin. I would have to cipher one to be sure if it's Latin or English and I will if I ever need to make a new one. -One thing I didn't account for with Empp was just how tiny the toy is. It's hard to keep him in frame a lot of times. He can float, but a lot of times that means I have to photoshop him into panels which is also a pain. -Hey look, a Time Gate. Yeah, I'm mixing in some Chrono Trigger here. It's my favorite game and the easiest time travel effect to use. And yes, the End of Time is from Chrono Trigger to, though I expanded it to include a sort of town. -Shredder makes such an odd episode reference here, but it was to remind people that he did collect porcelain in the 80's cartoon. -Shredder and Krang are allowed to destroy the 4th wall as that is in character for them. -Bebop and Rocksteady are hitting on Thief. That's creepy and strangely in character for them. -Ah, one of the running gags with Empp is stomping on him. Mainly Thief does it, but I think 1 or 2 others might as well, probably Ceus. -So "normal" Shredder never appears with other figures in this as he's human and I was trying to keep my scale rules at this point. Later he's modified so it's allowed. -They're using Transformer tech, which can only mean one thing. Mutation toys are awesome. -The octopus line is a reference to the short lived, completely insane, Ninja Turtles anime where Shredder calls Krang that a lot. That anime is so insane. -Our last scene has a new character...and his horse! I'll talk about him next time. ________________ https://i.imgur.com/hHYgDpb.jpg https://i.imgur.com/fx1c4wd.jpg https://i.imgur.com/J4dlIIj.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KHgOeHY.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kXqiYIm.jpg -This is the first fight scene I've posted of TAOWAR to have motion blurs instead of lines. I honestly think it doesn't add much without a sound effect to the point that I sometimes just don't blur it at all and let the sound effect do the work. -Thief gets to be all badass here. Because most of her other appearances are to help progress the story, I fear she may be a Mary Sue. The finale will sadly not help that because I'm going to have to use her to get speed up the plot. I wish I had used her in Filler Funnies more to get more character quirks and the like in there. -Drawing laser lines here for bullets. Honestly, better then the tiny bullets with a line behind it. -Thief explains Seal/Release fairly well. The only error here is that she say "home" when it should be a pocket dimension. Her home (currently) is the End of Time. -I wanted to get rid of Ceus's time travel function for plot reasons and just having a character that can freely time travel like that could be a problem. While Empp can open Time Gates in most places, it takes a lot out of him and it follows Chrono Trigger rules that doesn't allow a lot of overlap. -New character: Scar Forte, the Enneagon. He's a bounty hunter. There's not a lot to say about him until later, so let's talk about how old this character is. When I was a kid, I would call the mysterious character in a mask Scar. The first toy I ever gave this name to was a HEAT Viper while playing Star Wars. If they had done a modern update of the HEAT Viper sooner, I might've used it for this Scar. Forte was added later for the same reason Raider was added to Blade, because it's to generic otherwise. -The name Enneagon was added to give him a title, probably as a nod to the Gung-Ho Guns of Trigun. If I remember right Enneagon is two Latin words fused together. I know one of them is 9 and I think the other is weapon or something. He has 9 guns total, hence the idea. -Designwise, this version of Scar was basically a ninja decked out in guns. Some other versions of Scar (most of which have never seen the light of day) include the aforementioned HEAT Viper, a ninja ninja in RPG Maker, and at least 2 different characters in Guild Wars (one is a short Norn). -I do like the banter between Thief and Scar here. -Worth noting that Scar isn't normally a time traveller and was given the vehicle for the job. He prefers horseback. -At some point in time Thief stole Zelda's sword and Link's shield. To try to keep away from Mary Sue status, she does not get the Master sword. -So...I destroyed a Cybertron Menesor years and years ago to make a 2003 Shredder/Ch'rell custom. Here I switched the head back and used it as a Krang body. I don't regret it, but I do miss having an unmodded Cybertron Menesor. -Banrai is named after a Ninja Turtles weapon. Like Blazing Swords there's no relation, but at least this one is the right type of weapon unlike Blazing Swords. -I'm not super happy with the motion blurs here. Just a bit much in some places. Otherwise, I think it's a pretty good 2-on-1 fight. Maybe a little more banter would've helped. -Empp, being an asshole, probably knows exactly what that button does. -The last joke was a strange reference. For the 25th anniversary of TMNT, Playmates reissues a handful of '87 toys. In all the promo images, Shredder's legs were flesh colored, not black like the original. When the toy came out it was correct, but it was a fun to joke about pantless Shredder. -Oh hey, the updated TAOWAR logo from season 2. It's not used until arc 2 though, so this is the first use of it. Since DE-MOS has that cartoon villain like emblem, I wanted TAOWAR to have a star based emblem to use in the logo. It has a bit of the ReBoot Icon and GI Joe star mixed in it. When I went over to pages, I decided to drop the emblem from logo. Next Time: Blade, W, Springer, and Roger are in a Better World, a Cobra World. |
It might be next week before I start season 2. I had an idea for a short And Then They Fight that I'm going to try to make tomorrow, but for now, here's a Filler Funny from way back that has not connection to anything. It's just good old toy crossover fun.
https://i.imgur.com/jSPWsX6.jpg |
Wasn't able to get that comic made today, so instead it's time for 2 specials and a Filler Funny that are connected to each other through a forum character called JW%. He ran a sprite comic on the forum, so some call backs might be toward one of those. This of course was all done in good fun.
First up, the One Year Anniversary Special. It's a yard sale of season 1 stuff. There's a lot of forum characters along with Sgt. Slaughter, Batman, and a few others. https://i.imgur.com/jFt5XlR.jpg https://i.imgur.com/auqVQhP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HgZHHU3.jpg https://i.imgur.com/SNvL2u6.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5zv169H.jpg -Fun Fact: I have sold a lot of these toys from this comic. Next up, an Indiana Jones parody starring Star the Wanderer. Again, most forum characters. https://i.imgur.com/aOe8702.jpg https://i.imgur.com/AM5rPnH.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jjAm9l1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/DXMTJnw.jpg Finally, the Filler Funny where JW% complains about being the butt of some jokes. Again, this was all done in good fun. https://i.imgur.com/lLu9fTt.jpg |
Time for a new And Then They Fight (you know, the title of the thread).
WARNING: AVENGERS SPOILERS https://i.imgur.com/cpMAPIc.png |
Alright, going to try to get back on track this week. Let's start season 2.
https://i.imgur.com/Jl2J72M.jpg https://i.imgur.com/diAsjzF.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KUnvEXu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/EHhmSdP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/mmlwYfo.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2vQrrha.jpg -First cold opening. Until I turn over to the page format, most of the comics have one from now on. Here it's just the recap, but later one are normally short 2-4 panel scenes that focus on a character(s) or world building. -The last time segment turns into Robot Chicken for a little bit. Problably goes on a little to long. -Remember how I said Agent X had a comic on the same forum? That's what the last "channel" panels are from. -The proper last time is just highlight panels from season 1. They are unedited and you can see how some things became hard to read over the years. -If this comic had Trump instead of W. it would be too real. -This is when I made Scarlett's real name officially Renee O'Hara because calling her Scarlett in a world without GI Joe didn't make since to me. Nega-Scarlett -I really like this intro for Springer. Shame he does so little in this season. -All things consider, that wasn't a bad effect for the gun firing and hitting the Night Creeper. -I definitely overdid the motion blurs here and there. -Technically a new Kai Blast here: Flash Step. This is a common anime thing that doesn't always get a name. I know the name itself is taken from Bleach, but it's meant as a catch all for all those anime super speed/teleporting tricks. -Remember the tower from the very first arc? Well there's one in New York city to and it's DE-MOS' main base. -"the virus" is Mega-Byte from ReBoot. I highly considered him for the role, but he never ended up appearing...maybe one day. -God, Lord Zedd is huge in that body. -Oh yeah, Cobra Commander changed toys. It's still the one from lat season, I just liked changing it up since I had a bunch of variants. -Holy crap! I just suddenly remembered where that Red Crystal/Stone came from! It's from Agent X's comic. He used it as a macguffin and when he was done it was sent for my universe. I don't remember the context of it in that comic. If said comic is out there, it's pseudo-canon at best. -I still like the "no unstable crystals" line. -New-ish Character: Dr. Mindbender. This is the one from GI Joe, though may version ends up with a couple of running gags. The main one is the diner gag. Also, like CC he goes through a toy or two. It took a while to get a modern era Mindbender. -I love Springer stuck in the manhole. -I decided the resistance needed 4 original characters and one pre-existing character. The original characters are Clamcake, Roz, Jugdement, and T-8X (he's in the next comic). The pre-existing character is Donatello, of course. Most of these characters' backgrounds are in future comics, so I'm going to stick to the real world origins here. -New-ish Character: Donatello. I do sort of regret doing this paradox so early as characters like Donatello are introduced backwards. Anyways, this was a what if Donatello based on the 2003 series. I based the custom figure on the episode Same As It Never Was where Donnie is sent to an alternate future where he disappeared and the others are in very bad shape. This was generally designed as what if he didn't disappear and lived through the same crap. It's a little different in TAOWAR, though. -New Character: Judgement. He's not named until the next comic. He exists mainly to fill the role of a silent strong type. In fact he's mute. I probably could've used Snake-Eyes here, but I'm glad I didn't due to future events. -New Character: Roz Proudfoot. Roz is inspired and named after by two characters played by Peri Gilpin, Roz Doyle from Frasier and Jane Proudfoot from Final Fantasy The Spirits Within. I needed a grounded character that thought we were full of it and I needed a weapons expert. She's among my favorite characters created for TAOWAR. -New Character: Robert Clamcake. This character was named from a joke. I bought the 25th AWE Striker and I could not remember the driver's name (It's Crankcase) and started calling him Clamcake. When customizing him into Clamcake I decided I wanted him to be older so gray hair and I decided to change the figure into a black man to get some more diversity. -Kai Blast: Fist of the Ice King. It's a punch Kai Blast that's an Ice Element. It's based on Fist of the Beast King, Leomon's special attack from Digimon. Also, the photoshoped arm in the effect is actually my arm. -New(?) characters in the last panel as a cliffhanger. I think you can tell who the center one is from the catchphrase alone, which can only mean the infighting at DE-MOS is going to get fun soon. Next Time: The search for the timeline negatives begins! |
https://i.imgur.com/e5hhDKU.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/1y62tj7.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TY61krR.jpg https://i.imgur.com/PWbI2CK.jpg https://i.imgur.com/b8XypAy.jpg -New Character: T-8X "Tex". Mentioned him last time. He's a medical droid and a Texan. Why? Because the cowboy hat fit. I actually always loved this droid. It was my favorite Action Fleet figure (from the Hoth set) and I was so happy when Legacy made a new one. Of course Legacy had to shoehorn it into an Episode 3 wave, but we all know he's from Episode V. -Judgement's name is explained here. I think it's worth noting he's the only one with a code name in the resistance. I wanted to try to get more normal names in the mix. -As noted in the title panel, a year has past. The comic has not left this year of 2008. -Like the Kai Blasts, The Timeline Retrieval Unit is named so because it abbreviates to TRU or Toys R Us. This is the last time I do this. Both of these stores are dead. Maybe I should name something that abbreviates as Wal-Mart... -Yeah, for ease of story telling, I gave droids sparks. I've said before, though never in the main comic, that Roger is Blade's droid and Tex is Roz's droid. Slavery is already a question with droids and giving them sparks probably doesn't help that. -So the TRU exists to bring in the main cast that got left behind and meet their negatives. -I picked the number 13 for the chips so I'd have as many as I needed and if I needed to I cause destroy the rest. -...the Smurf is still here. -I love this next scene. It's funny and develops characters in a fun way. But first let's talk about the new characters. -New characters: Führer Claw and Hanz. Führer Claw is Desert Claw's dad so I based him on Henry Jones Sr, but as a Nazi. Like Desert's toy Führer's toy has broken thumbs, so I gave him no hands. Hanz is a henchmen and also Nazi. There's not much else to him. -The masked man that keeps saying that catchphrase is still not named. Who could it possibly be?! I honestly don't know why I'm hiding it. -Okay, now for the Tuskie part. I've mentioned Tuskie's character development before, well this scene is when I knew what direction I was taking him in. I gave Tuskie motive here, his family...of Tusken Raiders. Keeping with Tuskie being a tweak of the word Tusken, his wife and child are Gafflina and Stickley aka Gaffi Stick. Not going to lie, I still love these names. -I love the married Tusken line and Hanz reminded Tuskie that he's a Nazi. I don't mean to gush over my own work, I just really like this scene. -So Clamcake's toy has a fist. I decided that should be part of his character and the it's one of the reasons he got Fist of the Ice King. The comic goes into it here and in a few issues, but never that much. -This scene is to get to know the new heroes a bit more. No jokes unless you count Tex being Texan. -Judgement is the main Flash Step user. If you see any heroes using it, this is who taught them. -So the original timeline is still kidding. I did this scene because of the time skip. It'd be strange if a year didn't pass in both timelines and I needed to explain how the original one wasn't completely gone. What happened in that year of the original timeline is explained later. -The Turtles and the Renegades are presnt with the main cast here to tie it together better. I told you Donatello was introduced backwards. -I wish the sound effect for switching timelines was "pop" not "poof" -Here's the set up for the rest of the arc. Find the Negatives and get the gang back together and adventures are to be had. -Roger has battle drones. He's been building them in the time skip. -And now it's time to focus on the Pirates of the Caribbean and how they fit into TAOWAR. The simple answer is the crew is cursed and that's about as deep as it goes. -There's the first "this is Sparta" joke. It's sadly not the last. -New characters: Darth Nova and Yuna. Star's negative is a Sith Lord and his apprentice is a rival of sorts for Scarlett. Next comic has a lot of fun with them. Next Time: The first main comic where Blade doesn't have a speaking role and only appears in a single panel. Also, hijinks on the Black Pearl play set! |
https://i.imgur.com/D9q31Sy.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/VwpxTO1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9wwJrLC.jpg https://i.imgur.com/alLZpZx.jpg https://i.imgur.com/AlD452F.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ySTqVn4.jpg -So this comic stars Scarlett of all characters. Since she only ever used the same Kai Blast as Star, I wanted to give her something unique and that became her being able to use all Elements. -This first panel is the only time Blade appears in this comic. I wanted to split up Blade and W. to see what I could do with them in different groups. -This comic is full of attack bits that takes advantage of the play set and it's features. I think these make for good action, though the motion blurs are still a bit heavier than they should be. -Well, Bush's dingy is back. Also like Clamcake taking none of W's shit. -I honestly don't know where some of W's random lines came from. I do know The Todd is a Scrubs reference. -I'm amazed I got any useable pictures of that jail cell. It's in a really cramped place. -This cat fight is so dumb and fun. I can't remember if this was my idea or Star's to have Scarlett and Yuna fight over different versions of the same man. This rivaly becomes the core of Scarlett's and Yuna's interacts from now on. -The topless joke is me thinking "why wouldn't a Sith lord do that?" It's awkward but this isn't as bad as the last time there was a topless woman in the comic. -...There's that Smurf again!...Oh, it actually has a point here for a joke. Okay. -Pirates vs Sith!...Yeah, it's one sided. -Kai Blast: Beautiful Glacial Caress. Scarlett gets an unique Kai Blast here in the form of an Ice attack. It freezes areas of the body for a little bit. The notes I have on this Kai Blast read like something Star wrote. It might've been his idea and I might've copied the text into my notes. -Hey, Springer does a thing. That poor seashell headed guy gets the crap beat out of him in this. Loses an arm and now Springer Hearyarms him. -I think Clamcake might use a Flash Step here. Either that or he's just jumping way further then Springer. -Once again using features of the play set. This play set was great for action set pieces. You probably won't see this set again as I sold this play set recently. Great play set, I just didn't have space for it anymore. -Yep, original timeline Jack Sparrow is still golden so Springer wasted a Paradox Chip. Next Time: A main comic without W, more negative hunting, and more character development for a few characters. |
Here's a couple of Filler Funnies to kill some time. First one's related to this arc, second is one I highly considered turning into an And Then They Fight. It's great Transformer fun. Enjoy.

https://i.imgur.com/Hq8y0Ub.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/ChtbILh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kuUblPd.jpg https://i.imgur.com/PECiVED.jpg https://i.imgur.com/fK05b37.jpg -Cold open: You might've noticed a slight tone shift in season 2 to have more serious scenes here and there. I feel this scene is when it's noticable and at the time I limited the serious scenes to be sparing. Anyways, if you're trope savy you can probably guess the path Tuskie is going down. -A little more with Roz hating the idea of the other timeline. There is a reason why she doesn't like it that is revealed later. Also, there's a reason she doesn't use Kai Blasts either. -So Shortround is the only summon in this comic. Wanted to have just one for a while. If I ever get this to a more episodic format, I plan to do this more often. -New Character: Sandy. Since Tuskie was off doing something else, I decicded Desert Claw needed a new lead henchman for this comic. Instead of a straight man like Tuskie, I wanted Sandy to be an enabler of Desert Claw's weirdness. Also, like W, Sandy knows he's in a comic. -New characters: Archdemon and Wolfdemon. The timeline negatives of Archangel and Wolfangel are played as a mistress and her dog. I can't remember the origins of the muffin man joke, but I'm happy it's here. It made for a fun scene. -Had to do the droids joke. It's the reason I used a Sand Trooper for Sandy. -If you haven't noticed, we have random rebel troopers with us in a lot of scenes. Also, it's mentioned earlier, but Roger is remote controlling those droids from the safe house. This is the only comic they appear in. -Wolfangel has a new shield. Shame I didn't upgrade Archangel's sword. This was a great time to do that and he so needed a new one. -I should find a way to use "stuck between a claw and a muffin lover" in convention. -See, Shortround has uses. I like that you can see him with the BAT in his arms. -This is still before I had a great flame effect part for Archangel/demon's Kai Blast. -Heck yeah, new Yoda figure. This one's based on the first Clone Wars cartoon. I really like this Yoda figure and he remains in this toy for the rest of the comic. -Due to my favorite clip from the English dub of Kamen Rider Kabuto (yeah, that exists), I now read Archdemon's "All of you!" line with a voice crack in it. -You might notice that Archdemon's Unicron arm isn't transparent like when Archangel uses the same attack. There's a reason for that that never made it in. I may be able to explain that in the finale, so I'll save it for now. -And...ummm...that gnome robot guy is back. He's a robot, so he's easier to explain then Yoda. I'm not sure if it's ever said since the running gag is no one notices him, but Gnome Prime just used on of the chips in season 1 and went off with Yoda when the paradox happened. Next Time: Nega-Scarlett has escaped, but the gang is back together. Tomorrow we end the first arc of season 2 by catching up with the other timeline and...well, let's just say shit gets real. |
https://i.imgur.com/vEcOpSS.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/ZfFfip7.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Eum2DJa.jpg https://i.imgur.com/g7cVUDg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/mc6k4HI.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zCWAucI.jpg -Cold open: Yoda's a force ghost with a physical form. Also Clamcake's fist is some sort of deal. Like Archdemon's Unicron attack, I hope to explain this later. -Once I has made it clear that both timelines existed, I wanted to do some catching up with what was happening in the origin timeline. I created a new Kai Blast for Wolfangel just to do this. -Once again, really wish I had gone with "pop" and not "poof." It's the little things somethings that get me. -There's a 4th wall break that actually makes since within the context of the comic. -I just noticed Gnome Prime's with them after the paradox. Eh, it's an illusion anyways. -Those symbols were just a bunch of characters I'd like to one day use...and Eek the Cat. -Scarlett is kicking Clinton in the crotch in one panel. -This is the proper introdution to the Axalon Underground forum characters. They mainly appear in Filler Funnies. -One of the members, Dreadnought (I think he renamed himself Nexus Zero later), had his own fictional country, so I'm making reference to that here. I have a guest written comic crediting Nexus Zero as well that explains these events. I'll post it over the weekend. -Icefang and Starshooter are husband and wife if I'm remembering right. The events of how they got the Autobots to help were told in a text story I'm not 100% sure I still have. I do at least have a poster for it. -The other two were suppose to get stories as well, but I never got around to them. -I'm amazied a nuclear joke hadn't happened yet. We're like 20+ issues in. -So why Icefang? Well, I had a contest. Whoever guessed how many DVDs I owned at the time would join the team in the main comic and get a Kai Blast. -Roadblock is because I wanted one of my fav Joes in the comic again and Wall-E because I wanted another droid. -And now for the scene I created to make it things are about to get a little darker and some grit to. -So Cobra Commander is taking Nega-W's place and we have the new Master of Earth, Krang. I probably should've had a short scene of him being appointed earlier in the comic. Oh well, here he is. -OH MY GOD! It's Serpentor! Who would've ever guessed it was him?! -From context, I hope you all gathered that during the fall of Cobra, Cobra Commander tried to kill Serpentor and outed Destro once captured. this is their revenge. -I know this is needlessly violent, but I wanted the see if I could do some of this stuff. The Destro part is probably a bit much, but that hand Destro had just looked like he could tear into someone like that. -He's NOT Serpentor! HA! Who is this guy then? Keep reading. -This is the first major death. There are more coming, though I don't think any of them are quite this graphic. -And to defuse that scene, maybe even undercut it, we are called Bush Raiders again. -Din Crystal! That's what the Red Stone was called in Agent X's comic. -And ending on Negatives of Agent X and Curse from the Botcon arc. I'm not 100% why I added them, but I know a little sometime happens with them. NEXT Time: Over the weekend will be posting some of the spin offs I mentioned earlier and maybe a filler funny or 2. Starting on Monday we will start Arc 2, which is only 2 comics. On Wednesday I'll start Arc 3, which is 3 comics (including the short side story). After that we hit Arc 4, which is the final arc. I maybe put posting arc 4 on hold for a bit while I'm still editing and making those last 2 ATTFs to sync the numbers. We;ll see when we get there. |
Couple more Filler Funnies.
https://i.imgur.com/WvPpDC4.jpg -This one is a rather random comic that was born from the fun of Indiana Jones collecting. Shame that line didn't last longer. https://i.imgur.com/kaTW6xT.jpg -This one has a bit of a story to it. My brother had found an eBay lot of Metal Gear figures for Wolfangel and couldn't use eBay at the time, so had me buy them. I ordered something from the seller to, so when they came to my house I opened the box and checked it all over. Then made this comic without them being any the wiser. |
https://i.imgur.com/Z9xDGfA.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/vv91f6o.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Z4KLOIY.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ZUiwQQE.jpg -For more on Osteogenesis Imperfecta www.oif.org/site/PageServer -Time for an origin story of sorts for Blade. This had been stewing for a long time. I needed to explain Command Line, resolve that one off line in the Botcon arc, and retcon to get what I wanted the character to be from the start. -You might be wondering why Blade wasn't in a wheelchair from the beginning. The answer is simple: Before the movie Avatar, there were almost no wheelchair options in this scale. The chair here is from some anime figurine of a little girl, so only child sized figures can fit in it. -Cold Open: I did make a minor edit here. The origin says Type III OI, but the classifications have changed over the yesrs (possibly even before this was made) so I decided to simplify it to not have that. -Starting with this comic, the star shaped TAOWAR logo is used and the panel has a blue background. I think it pixelated worse over the years, but I'm still happy to have color here. -Oh wow, I totally forgot the segway from the cold open to Springer saying the same line. I think that might've working better if the title pnael was moved before the cold open or after the Springer panel. -Serpentor's "run for your lives" line is from Doctor Who. *whistles nonchalantly* -I wanted to switch bodies on Agent X anf Curse Hawkwind to get them out of those 5" ToyBiz toys, so I had them switch bodies with their timeline negatives here to do that while also destroying the TRU. This means no more crossing over. -I try hard these days to hide the stands, but for Firefly is kind of works in this panel as his name appears below him like he's a monster of the week. -Oh, Roger grabbed Jack Sparrow. I totally forgot about that. -The other monster nametag of the week is Cobra The Enemy. -Another drawn set here, this time a street are night. I got some good use out of this. Also, Night Ops Humvee is rad. Glad I got to use it somewhere. -Hey look, a Transformer that isn't a summon or Springer. I needed Blade alone for the rest of this arc and Blackout was a good chance to give Icefang a minor fight. -One of my other favorite play sets is this Spawn Alley Way set. Highly recommended if you like the 3.75"-4.25" scale. -I wonder if I still have that I Want You card. I think it was a JoeCon ad (and erased whatever the name was) -New Character: Raider. My very first "custom" toy was a Lego made wheelchair Transformer that GI Joe figures could sit in. This was the origns of Raider. I still have it to, it just wasn't super useful for what I needed in the comic. -The Raider custom here is make of TF parts from Beast Machines and Universe. It can't transform, so I made it so Raider's alt mode would cast off like a pretender shell or something. It doesn't really add up in the comic, but at the time it was the best way to make this work. -The plane crash line is stipud. I kind of wish I hadn't put it in there. -I fully admit this origin is a little fan fic-y, but I think that might've been the point. Do all the tropes. Plane crash, best friend is a Transformer, reenacting a song from Aladdin, and probably the most Mary Sue moment in the comic (we'll get to that). -Summon: Who's the coolest shark summon around? Sky-Byte! This one is literally just Sky-Byte. I sadly haven't used him outside this attack. It's worth noting that all of Nega-Gnome's summons are sharks. -New Character: Nega-Gnome. I decided to make one timeline negative a good guy, but since it was a negative of Blade I wanted to make sure he was ridiculously silly. I may have mentioned it in the past but my real world nickname is gnome. I saw a chance to bring it into the comic using the negative and took it. If this had been planned, I probably wouldn't have called Gnome Prime that. -Nega-Gnome also talks similar to Claw Jaw. Because it's fun. -Oh hey, my real name. You may have noticed it on a few Filler Funnies. I like it when the villain calmly say heroes' real names like it's no big deal. -The Mary Sue moment. Hey guys, my OC is so cool, his best friend is a Transformer and he grew up with the Ninja Turtles. Ugh. In comic, this mainly exists to explain why Blade knew the Turtles to begin with and how he got the safe house (AKA the 2003 TMNT lair). -New character: Gravel. Gravel is an in-joke. You see, I have an electric wheelchair. It sinks in gravel. Gravel is my enemy. It was either that or stairs. As for why he's trying to kill Blade, no one knows, yet. -Gravel's custom is a General Tragg from TMNT painted from top to bottom and made to look as frightening as I could. If you're wondering the red is not blood, it's lava. Next Time: The origin story continues and lots of fighting. |
https://i.imgur.com/IPcOEN8.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/pUfxysy.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Mg6AivG.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0HjnbVb.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ZSTQfw8.jpg https://i.imgur.com/1hKjBDi.jpg -Cold Open: Now it's time to address Command Line and introduce creator named Jack. This was my way of better explaining that Blade is not really Human or a Transformer. -I am trying so hard with theses rhymes for Roadblock. I'm not saying any of them are good, just that I was trying. -The Kai Blasts here are self explained. Like a lot of the other minor KBs, they are just there to fill the tasks needed in the fights. -Summon: The Sharkticon of Legend, Frark! Like Sky-Byte he's barely used. I have future plans with these though. -And now for a badass Roz moment with a paint gun. Nothing to add here, I just love this this bit. -More on Command Line. There's levels of function to it that become more clear as it goes. The main thing here is that with it's active things like Flash Steps are easier to do. Later Blade is able to form change just Fortiavis as well. This is also when it's revealed that there's more then one form and Boomerraider is named. -This fight might be a little static due to Gravel's toy being limited, but I think it turned out well. -Repainted Boomeraider to be more in Blade's colors. Would've done that the first time if I hadn't switched it at the last moment. -I always hope this fight is easy enough the follow as there's a lot of set up and panels with no dialogue or sounds. -Kai Blast: Eruption. Like the others, this comes from the needs of the scene, but also is in line with what the toy has. Like I mentioned before all that red is lava and the KB is just letting it erupt everywhere. -That 300 line makes no since. Blade wasn't even there for the other one. -Once again, Mary Sue-ish. My OC got a sword from Splinter. Ugh. The TMNT stuff isn't that bad in the grand scheme of things, it's just kind of out of place with the rest of the story. -Blade's sword, Fortiavis, is named here. I know I took the "Fort" from Forte (Latin for strong), but I can't remember where the "iavis" came from and I couldn't find any old notes about it. -Classic GI Joes. I originally planned for Shipwreck to use the gun he came with, but switched to the gun Blade carries to better unify the idea. Oddly enough, Blade switches over to the Shipwreck came with later. Either way, the gun isn't special, I just wanted them to be the same accesoiry. -Originally Archangel was written in here, but Star was the one to start the gnome nickname, so I felt it was better to use him. -Other guns do little to nothing to Gravel, but his weakness is a revolver. Why? We don't know, he needed a weakness that would scare him off. At one point I may have been planning to give Blade a gunblade later. -I had customized more of the Outback toys already, so I used the 25th Outback to be Blade in he's original costume. -This arc was meant to set up some future stories so who, what, and why of Gravel is will not be found here...I may have something planned for the finale though. -Also, that figure on the table appears again later. -Jack's face is not shown. There's a reason for that. -And on that somber note, Here's some W. silliness. -I don't think My Network TV is a thing anymore, just like UPN. -The Cobra-La trap is one of my favorite gags. Next Time: Regrouping as the villains take center stage. |

https://i.imgur.com/71sPfAf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/GtZzjCT.jpg -If the last arc was about Blade, then this arc is mainly about other character developing and setting up the final arc of the season (aka the incomplete one). -Cold Open: Wanted to remind people about Tuskie's family to set up his development in this arc and visually I wanted to parody the opening of the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime (the part with the burning photo). -This first scene was to recap all the events leading to this while doing some clean up. One thing that needed to be cleaned up was to the villains having negatives. Created a second set of chips to erased them. -I also needed to clean up why THE Master was replaced by Cobra Commander only to be replaced by Serpentor not to long after. -Even tried in the first arc as well as Tales of the Time Thief here (also explaining how Krang got here). -Sorry if there's some spelling errors in this. I fixed at least 3 on the first picture file alone. -Oh, and Baroness got upgraded. This might be the best modern Baroness toy. -The return of Leader-1. Why? Eh, why not? -I kind of love Nega-Gnome. Side note, due to the story line, Nega-Gnome will not meet W. until the finale. And boy am I excited to share that scene. -Suddenly character development for Roz. Her rejection of the paradox is her not wanting to hope her brother is alive even if it's not exactly her brother. Also, TEX is the nicest character in the comic from this scene alone. -Time for more Sandy! And yes, I totally told Sandy that it will end with [Message Deleted]. -I have never read or watched Harry Potter and don't plan on it. This joke is literally all I know about it. -This was a short one. Partly because it didn't have any action in it, but also because some characters just had lot to say without interruptions. Next Time: An missing sword and Tuskie's resolve. |
Meant to post this earlier today, but got side tracked by trying to find a missing prop I need for one single panel.
https://i.imgur.com/6g76CnC.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jZjMfsq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/RrcpLnw.jpg -No cold open on this one. If I remember right, these two were written as one comic, but due to the text dump in the first half I broke it up. -Upgraded Roadblock here in the same way as Baroness. Was never happy wih the early modern Joes of him. -Thief's gang returns in the same way as Krang. That means Scar Forte is probably around here somewhere to. -Empp knows about THAT scene and wants to punish Blade for THAT scene. Honestly, Ceus should let him. -Thief also gets her 3rd toy here. Wanted a more armored design and the ability to use all the Microman hands from the first figure. -I had a lot of fun with the DE-MOS characters in this arc. -Really wanted to change "master" to "lord" to lessen the name confusion, but I told myself not not to change thingslike this. -Who could Serpentor possibly be? *whistles nonchalantly* -And "Billy" even gtot upgraded. -I wonder if anyone saw the whip gag coming. -Tuskie is a fan of Dinobot's Golden Disc scene. -I like this scene between Tuskie and Destro. Seriously, I'm a little impressed with my past self right now. Scenes like this was why I didn't want to start over. -Don't worry, Springer is still alive. We'll see him again soon. -I just now realized Empp calls the darkest skinned Turtle a "boy." If Empp comes off racist, it's not intentional. He's just an asshole. This is another line I'd edit if I was allowing myself to. -I like how relaxed Yoda looks in this scene. -More explanation on Seal/Release as it plays a part in all of this, though maybe not in the way you might think. -To make sure Thief isn't too Overpowered, this plan could only work with Yoda and other Jedi spirits helping. -Tuskie has a new Darth Vader cape. -Both of the W. scenes in this and the last arc date the comic so bad. Now he's watching Smallville. Next Time: A short comic (literally one picture file) letting some side characters take the spotlight. It is important to the over arcing story though. |

-This is happening as Blade, Thief, Donnie, Yoda, and Empp talk. -I think this is the only time I have the text under the title start the story. Normally it's just a recap. What's said here is brought up in narration at the end as well. I should've moved the text to a yellow narration box in the first panel as I assume anyone that doesn't need a recap skips that text (I know I, writer, does). -While this comic is important, I believe this was the one I left out of the issue count by mistake. Consider this or the Himalayas epilogue a .5 issue. -The Power Levels are bullshit. The only thing to note is Thief is stronger then Blade...oh, and Thief is over that meme. -The head shots of Blade and Thief are from proper photos of the custom figures. I need to save those from Photobucket someday. -I never named Scar's horse, though I remember there was a name thrown around. Something like "Equus of Nine" or the like. I remember it being a Seven of Nine joke at least. -Gnome Prime is a Digimon...as a Transformer. Bet you didn't see that coming. When I decided to bring GP back, I wanted him to be able to grow into a bunch of different Prime/Primal toys. I wanted a Prime/Primal in my ranks and there's so many to choose from. This is the best of both worlds. -Note that in future comics it will be "Digivolve" not "evolve." I think I was going through that anime phase where all changes were considered evil. Meanwhile, even Bandai Japan has accepted the term Digivolve these days. -Vang Primal's toy might looks worn and there's a reason for that, that Optimus Primal was my very first Transformer (along with the croc Megatron, of course). Vang was a name I gave the toy when my brother (and later me) got Ultra class Optimus Primal and I didn't see them as the same character. Why Vang? Because vampire bats and fangs. That's all. -I'm not a fan of Scar's line getting cut off here. It's bad foreshadowing. I didn't want to commit to the word he was going to say because for the problems with the term "Master." The term is revealed in the next arc and I should've revealed it here. -This is the last main comic I'm going to be keeping my hands off of as much as possible. Next main comic is the beginning of the final arc and there's some edits I want to make. There's just some stuff I want to improve and/or make flow better with the finale. Next Time: I dunno. Probably some Filler Funnies over the weekend and then the final 4 old issues next week. I am still working on the finale. I'm currently shooting and editing the epilogue. I got a little behind due to life, but making progress here and there and believe I can have it finished before June. However, in making the finale work I had to skip over some battles that I had set up in issue 36. They are important subplots, but some fat needed to be cut and they had to go. Now that the ending is nearly complete, I want to go back and make those battles I skipped. These were character focused battles. There's enough to make it all its own shorter issue. So I have 2 choices here: Option 1) Delay the finale to issue 38 and make issues 37 the skipped parts before releasing it. If I do this, it might take a while as I'm missing a toy I need to make it. It was a toy I thought I still owned, but sold a year or 2 ago. Option 2) Release the finale first so the ending is done and then make these skipped battles a one off 36.5 issue. I did write the finale as if these battles happened either way and the aftermath is in the first few pages, so the finale would tell you the outcome of these battles if I did it this way. I'd like to know if anyone has a preference here. |

https://i.imgur.com/dpzZfrP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MuJ8aOj.jpg -As mentioned before, I'm allowing myself to edit anything I want in this arc. I will go over every change except simple spelling errors. -This comic has the biggest edit I'm doing in that it is a huge visual edit. And for fun I'm not telling you what it is because I'm curious if anyone can find it. I have kept the originals and will post a side-by-side at a later time. -Starting with this comic every comic has an individual title all of which are songs titles. This one is Good Morning, best known for it's use in the musical Singin' in the Rain. -Hey, Springer's back and can be a helicopter now. Sadly, this is his last appearance in the completed comics. -More trooper fun. That is not Sandy, by the way, just a dirty Stormtrooper. -Yes, that a TMNT II line. I regret nothing because I love that line. -My goal here was to set up a handful of one-on-one battles to give the main cast that wasn't around much this season a spotlight fight each. -Pit Viper has the title drop. Here he actually sings it. Later it will just be in normal dialogue. -Roz uses a Spy Troops Lady Jaye that came with a Baroness disguise as her figure. This was a fun excuse to use those parts. -Corrected an error here. The Paradox Machine is in the basement as seen in an earlier comic. The original lines were "Down the Hall" and "On the first floor? Really?" -Changed Roadblock's line to set up Baroness' reply better. Otherwise Baroness is replying to TEX's line, who isn't there. The original line was "Good thing, we have a fight to bring." It almost works that way, but I think him using the word deliver instead makes it flow better. -Shock value time. Judgement is missing an arm and maybe dead. Things are about to get dark is what I'm saying.
