I was thinking of what you said, and I looked up asexual. Not because I didn't know what it meant, but because I felt like I was leaving something out of my definition. Asexuality (or nonsexuality) is the lack of sexual attraction to anyone, or low or absent interest in sexual activity. It may be considered the lack of a sexual orientation, or one of the four variations thereof, alongside heterosexuality, homosexuality, and bisexuality. A study in 2004 placed the prevalence of asexuality at 1% in the British population. Just because there's no sexual attraction doesn't man that there has to be a lack of romance. And Just so you know, I'm not trying to argue anything you say, just putting my thoughts/opinion out there. You can be romantic and in love and it not be sexual. Just look at Garnet (Sapphire and Ruby). They are in love, but no sexual attraction. So...I just lost my train of thought on this... >__> Oh yeah!! So maybe the sexual undertones are just their ways of conveying trust? I mean, if you are going to merge yourself with someone you really have to trust them. Or have some form of ulterior motive, like Lapis Lazuli did with Jasper. |
There's a STU thread?! Excellent. Some Fusions have a sexual undertone. But you have to remember, they do know what it is. Rose 'gave birth' to Steven after all and Greg's DNA had to get inside her somehow. But it's just implied sexuality. It is still essentially a show for kids.
That being said: Jasper's a bitch. |
Why the fuck would today's episode end like that?! :cry
Anyways, we finally got another fusion: Sardonyx. To be honest, it wasn't what I imagined it would be but it was a certainly entertaining Fusion. |
It ended like that because they wanted to add a little realism to the show. Shit like that happens IRL all the time, why can't it happen with the Gems? Now literally asking a question or trying to be smartass. Just putting it out there.

I feel for Pearl. She wanted so bad to fuse with someone, to maybe not be so solitary for a little while. Because Pearl is a real loner in the group. Mostly because she misses Rose, mostly because of how she is. But Garnet always takes fusion so seriously. Understandably, I mean I get why.
But I understand how it ended. Like GreenPsycho said, not everything can be wrapped up in a neat little bow. And that's what I like about SU. It's not always a cheerful, happy ending. |
I agree with you Sentai. I never really grasped how lonely Pearl was until just recently. She gave her "heart, body, and soul" to Rose Quartz and Rose Quartzs cause. And in the end Rose Quartz ends up leaving her so Steven can live. She feels utterly alone because of that lose and for some reason cannot see that Rose is still there in Steven. Although she does mention a few times that she does see Rose in him, she doesn't fully accept it.

And that last part is really interesting. To the rest of Gem society, Steven is an abomination created by a war criminal and a heretic, who aligns himself with that heretic war criminal's band of rejects. That's harsh. |

I mean, that's the kind of situation that doesn't get solved with a funny one-liner. I really liked Sardonyx, it's not what I expected out of those two at all, but she's so comedically over the top, it's neato. |
