Zi-O 5 Raw:
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6ugxlt I really love Ohsugi, Kusaka, and Takumi are appeared in this episode. I still hoping the Gentaro will be appeared in future episodes..... |
This was a good episode. There is a mystery behind the surface that has yet to be solved, so I'm excited to see how everything connects in part 2. Who is the Another Rider and why does he have special powers? Why does Another Fourze become Another Faiz? Why is Kusaka after high school girls? And I am still not certain why they decided to merge the Faiz tribute with Fourze. Hopefully the next episode will give us satisfying answers. Speaking of which, I was a little bummed that Takumi and Kusaka only appeared at the very end of the episode. Wasn't there a production shot of Takumi following Sougo in Amanogawa?
One thing I really liked about this tribute was that they made it feel like Kisaragi Gentaro had a presence despite his actor not being available. Using the faceless appearances throughout the episode - the teacher giving out pamphlets, the Fourze archive footage with his original voice and his un-transformed body-double when he loses his powers- and having the Kamen Rider Club and Ohsugi mention him in high regards really helped to make it feel like he was proper part of the tribute, even without Sota Fukushi. Seeing the board with all the photos of the Kamen Rider Club from 2011 with Ryusei having a solid focus was also very nostalgic. Overall though, the episode definitely felt like we returned to 2011's Fourze thanks to Sakamoto's directing, returning locations and uniforms and the thematic element of friendship. One of the better episodes of the season so far. Episode 5.5 basically makes fun of the fact that Geiz and Tsukuyomi have no idea who Faiz is despite using the Faiz Phone X, so it looks like they won't bring that up in the show proper, unfortunately. |
This episode confirmed what had been hinted before regarding the monsters - they're erased right alongside Riders. So that should answer some questions people had in the previous topics.

So the riders get back their powers?
|
Wait, Fourze happened in 2011?

Just don't let that sink in... |

Wow, that is without a doubt the best ep to beat in the season so far, that was just solid from start to end, good camera work to make the fact they do not have Fourze actor available.
The Anothere rider was flat out fantastic as well, that solid and flat out creepy little movements it had here and there and they can double up meaning Zi-O and Geiz will have to combo to finish this bugger off. And we have douchebag supreme back ! Which is just a win any way you look at it. |
While I thought this episode was better than the first four, I'm still not really feeling this show. I feel Build was like the apex on how it broke away from certain Rider conventions and mostly did it's own thing while keeping to the Rider formula, then coming in to this when were back to the usual formula. It's just unfortunate this show came after Build.

That! Was a good episode! I am kinda bummed that we're gonna be in Arc 1 for another 2 months and we have to deal with the whole "Get initial form changers" and all that jazz, I'd much rather start getting into the real meat of the series. But alas, guess I gotta wait.
Solid episode though, can't wait for next week. |

Man, that AnotherFourze looks terrifying. Even more than AnotherEx-Aid. And also, the Fourze Armor and it's Limit Time Break is stupidly awesome.

Hey everyone, guess what time it is!
https://i.imgur.com/ZQl6ngx.jpg Time to play "Guess Who Directed This Episode"! The picture above is a "subtle" hint! In all seriousness, I really enjoyed this episode. The action was above average (duh), and the parts relating to Fourze were handled in a way that makes me feel more comfortable with the prospect of inevitable future episodes that also have to do tributes to other shows without their main character. The recycled footage, of all things, actually helped a lot. For all the issues Zi-O still has to iron out, I'm glad they didn't try having the old Riders appear entirely in costume with awful soundalikes or something. To paraphrase episode 5.5, I don't think that would've fooled modern viewers. As for the story here, it's hard to say anything until it wraps up next week. It seems like pairing up Faiz and Fourze might not be entirely arbitrary, and I definitely loved the twist with the Another Rider at the end, but it could also just be more nonsense too. At any rate, I appreciate them matching the theme of the episode to the theme of the series they're paying homage to. The Ex-Aid episodes vaguely did that, I guess, but here everything is 100% about friendship. This is another thing I think it was very important for Zi-O to get right, so I'm happy about that. Honestly, my biggest problem with this episode was probably the finisher. Sougo decides to start announcing his attacks for no reason and then Geiz mildly chides him for it? Maybe worth a chuckle, but compared to the postmodern genius of the last two gags they did, it's unbearably lame. |
Really liked the episode. The twist was fun. And glad to see the return of some characters.
Also liked how Woz made it more apparent he's not part of the Time Jackers, and how the Time Jackers implied Oma Zi-O is Sougo and how they're trying to change that too in their own way. Also loved how the Fourze bit made it more apparent how the Another Rider alters time including erasing the monsters of former series. So it seems the threats of each series do disappear when the rider does. (Which may have indirectly explained why Orphenochs don't exist in this world anymore. Or other monsters for that matter.) They seem to be hitting the audience over the head with some details other episodes made apparent, but tbh, kind of seems like that's needed. So it's welcome obviousness and side exposition. Love how they still crammed it in without making it completely expository and still did it by visual to keep the pacing too. Also like how they seem to be experimenting and also speeding up some elements too. Also loved the Tsukuyomi foreshadowing here. How they implied she needed to get back for safety, but also left things in her care to protect. And the building outcome of that starts to paint a picture of her needing to have more of an arsenal later, or has something she doesn't want to reveal she has yet. Woz is presenting more interesting stuff too. Definitely an agent of Oma Zi-O who may or may not have his own motives, but for now seems like he's wanting to make sure the timeline stays intact as it already is but also acts as an observer biding his own time for reasons. Whereas the Time Jackers and their experiments seem like they are trying to change the timeline in a more chaotic unpredictable way for their own reasons. And of course we have the main trio looking to turn the timeline to a positive one to save lives. The 5.5 was fun. Also loved the name puns further explained. And from the sounds of it, we're going to get more on the FaizPhone in the coming weeks too maybe. Gotta love the numbering for this too. Episode 5 and 5.5 and the hidden cameo. As well as the theme relation there too to mix them. |
Maybe I like Decade quite a lot, at the least we know they are going to each Rider World and the arcs are clearly defined.
Maybe Build was too good and my expectations went up for the second decade anniversary hype. Something about the way the story unfolds in Zi-O definitely irritated me, can't put my finger on what exactly it is. |
I like how Kusaka's first course action in this series is to apparently throw a high school girl off of a building. Because.....would you expect anything else?

I was expecting the same from him...knowing the prick that he was in Faiz and that infamous novel that I shouldn’t talk about...
Anyway, I liked the episode. I still like Tsukuyomi a lot and Sougo is finally growing on me. I wonder if Woz isn’t Oma Zi-O... |

He's Sebastian to Sougo's Ciel. The Harbinger of what was. Likely without Sougo becoming Oma Zi-O, Woz may not come into existence. So to exist, he needs things to happen as they already did. Much like how Sebastian couldn't take Ciel's soul unless Ciel regained his memory, though in a different way. But the parallel still seems to hold. But that does raise one question. If Woz knows about Geiz and Tsukuyomi's influenced, and doesn't mind them because they keep Sougo on track(they were the whole reason Sougo was there), what happened to them when Sougo becomes Oma Zi-O? The way Woz acts is like they were part of that timeline. So that suggests they always did. It's the "pre-destiny" loop. But they're really bonding to Sougo too, or at least he likes them. So it doesn't seem like he'd off them in the future. Not their older selves at least, leaving that question of "What happened to their older selves?" |

The story isn't really unfolding in a way that's clear and I'm okay with that as it hasn't really been that predictable so far. |

Once it hits the half-way point and the movies, it should be clearer. But you're definitely right about it not being predictable. Feels intentional that way too with how so much is in the details but only slowly rolled out and explained. But on that same token, still less confusing than Den-O was on the time travel shenanigans. xD |
