Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger Episode 50- "We Will Rule The World!" Discussion
The Monarchs make their final stand against Dagded for the fate of the world.
|
say goodbye to King-Ohger and say hello to Boonboomger.

Well, that was a nice finale to Gurren Lagann. :lolol
|
that's so sad about the mecha.

so long.

And so, the story ends... And what a story it was...
The finale was truly wonderful given how much everything felt like it was building up to it. Kamejim's fate, the final battle with Dugded, the sacrifice of the Shugods, the metaphor about the universe being condensed into that tiny room, it's just *chef's kiss* it's beautiful. And the little epilogue of everyone's lives in the reformed kingdoms was very nice. If I had one complaint about this finale, it would be that the Gate to the Land of the Dead kind of just came out of nowhere after Grodie got thwumped, and while yes it was great seeing how it was used, it felt like it just appeared without much thought other than "oh yeah, there's an entrance to the afterlife we can access." But overall, I enjoyed this tremendously. If Zekaiger was my favorite for being a fun episodic series for Sentai, King-Ohger would be my favorite for its overall story. There were times it felt like it backpedaled and the Kyoryuger bits weren't as amazing (whether by me not having watched it, or because it felt out of place) as the rest of the story, I definitely enjoyed this series throughout. Racles is still best King, but boy did I love every one of the team. And now... *Here he comes! Here comes Speed Racer!* This ought to be fun! |

Reiwa Sentai Ranking: 1) King-Ohger 2) Zenkaiger 3) Donbrothers 4) Kiramager So, uh, good luck Boonboomger. You'll need it. But if there's a wall, you just need to blow it up, right? Tomorrow, I'll be catching up and giving my thoughts on Black Geats and the 4 Aces and Adventure Heaven. |

If someone was going to tell me that they would create a massive three part finale battle for a Sentai series I would have scoffed.
Random thoughts. I waited until the last week to go catch up on the final 10 episodes. I'm glad I did because then it felt more cohesive. Which kind of describes King-Ohger to a T. It was a very big picture kind of season because there was a lot of material to chew. Even the silliest episodes had some form of fill to another future episode. Story-wise I think it's one of the best so far of this period. Each character had their own build up. I still don't know why everyone likes Racles, he's the biggest Chad of the Sentai universe, but I'll ignore it because some of his scenes were played really well. The sub characters of each kingdom had their own growth though???? That is some next level 'we can keep track of a large ensemble' kind of writing. Well played. I may also have a new crush on Morphonia, but that's my Moffun to bear. Effects wise, I noticed a strong difference after episode 40 where the CG from the surround studio couldn't quite keep up. I'm nitpicking a little, but it made my brain hurt seeing fluttering rocks and scenery. The finale though was as others have mentioned, piercing the heavens levels of excellent. The season when I look at it in pieces seems so disjointed, but as I said, all of it was a build up to the bigger story, which was what Jeramie said the entire time, reading the subtext was important. When you watch the series from beginning to end as a whole, it makes a lot more sense. I felt a little LOTR vibes with the opening of Hell, and the return of Deathnarok, but when Pappy Racles kicked in? I might have said 'gyatt' out loud. I don't think I've ever desired more to see the bad guys teeth get punched out like this season, and they delivered. Overall, I still consider Zenkaiger to be my favorite series of this era, but yeah, I'll give King-Ohger a slot in the top three. |
