The All Encompassing POKÉMON Thread
About time we had one, and what better time to start it than with the announcement of Pokemon X and Y for 3DS! :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bIrWryFc7A The worldwide release date just sweetens the deal. |
Yea I know and the game all ready looks awesome so this is a pre-order for closer the time
|
When my friend posted it on Facebook I literally screamed! New Pokémon, with a huge change in graphics! They look wonderful. Looks like they took a few cues from Stadium. I'm also anticipating the new Legendary Mascots, for the first time since Ruby and Sapphire we get two drastically different mascots.
Generation V is very short compared to previous generations, though! |
Oh so this was the BIG announcement that they showed on today? I mean it does look nice, but they need to work on the gameplay.I've played my share of pokemon games(heck, all of them cept black and white 2),and I always find myself bored after the Elite Four.I loved when they allowed you to go back to older areas.
I'm still waiting for a Pokemon game that lets you go back to an Old Area/Region of your choosing after you beat the Elite Four. That would be sweet. |

I too usually felt a lack of drive after the Elite Four, but it was not because I was bored, though. It was mostly because after having beaten the Elite Four, I often felt betrayed at the sudden difficulty spike, implying that my efforts had been for naught. :( I also disliked that while the game remained relatively casual until the Elite Four, suddenly after the Elite Four you'd need to seriously EV-train, move-balance and selectively breed your Pokémon for any chance of progressing in the games. The Battle Frontier sections were always so hard for me. However, I must admit a large part of this frustration is due to laziness and impatience. The games would be tremendously more fun if I only tried to make them so. I think it would be quite unlikely to ever get a game that will let you choose a past region to return to, but we might get another Gold/Silver style game that lets you visit one former region. I'm hoping it's Hoenn. :) |
hopfully Gen 6 allows the go back to unova region like gold did for kanto and battle there trainers

The legendaries are at least vastly different from each other...
But seem to fit in with old groups too much... The presumably dark/dragon one could fit in with... well my first instinct was to say Reshiram and Zekrom, but it does look more bird-like, so I wanted to say the legendary birds, but then it doesn't really fit there either. So I guess it is unique. But the dear is too obviously like the musketeer trio. I really dig the fire fox starter, Fennekin. As usual I'll be picking it. Now we can only hope it's not fire/fighting... |

I'm going to have to buy a god damn 3DS now, aren't I? Fuck you, Nintendo, you digital crack peddlers.....

I might be getting back into the TCG. I still have my 80,000+ cards from before(stopped playing around the second DPP set), but the boxes are getting old and crumbly, and I have no idea where to buy sets of boxes or cases that would fit that many cards...

Maybe you just had poor Pokemon choices? :/ |

If the NPCs are slightly harder (which I personally didn't think), its only to balance that they've spoon-fed you pretty much all the way so grinding is as easy as possible. |

With how little time I have given my life and job, plus the fact that there's close to 500 Pokemon, I doubt I'll ever get back into this series. I have no doubt Gen 5 is meant to help out new player wet their feet on Pokemon, but there's a lot time just for grinding and I don't have time for that.
|
Aw crap, now I need a 3DS T_T
|
To everyone who wants to go back to previous regions in the same game: Stop being stupid. This isn't a size or memory thing, it's a logic thing. Going through one region without level grinding, just battling the trainers, evil organization, and gym leaders (And subsequently the E4) can have your team rounding out level 60. Add in 5 more regions and you'd be a walking god halfway through the Hoenn.
Yes, it would seem like fun, but after a certain point, battles with your level 100 mons vs. their lv 20 mons would just seem tedious and busy work (Remember, in GS/HGSS, only the Gym Leaders got the level boost. The normal trainers still fought with their lv. 5 Pidgeys and etc in Kanto). And there would be no challenge. Unless the game forces you to pull an Ash, there would be nothing fun. Anyway, like the starters, looks like Fire isn't paired with Fighting, so thank god (Early rumors are that it's part Psychic), the Grass type is currently rumored to have the Fighting half (GOOD GOD GAMEFREAK. No one likes Fighting starters. Stop making them :I), and, as usual, I really don't care about the Water type. Oh, kinda like the legendaries, but there's something about both of them that stops me from loving them. The deer's antlers are too silly, but there's something about the dragon that makes me hesitant... Quote:
But if you take away my healers in the caves, I will come down upon you with the wrath of a titan. |

That was one of the better additions I will admit, its when you have things like the lucky egg being handed to you that I will argue gen 5 is the easiest Pokemon has been. Quote:

From the looks of the trailer, it seems that the starters may eventually be these types-
Chespin- Grass/Dark Fennekin- Fire/Psychic Froakie- Water/Fighting. Which oddly reminds me of the second set of starters I designed last year...and Fennekin even reminds me a bit of my Fire Starter Porgi, primarily in the idea that it is a form of canine with "fiery bits" on it's ears and tail. http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/i/20...rd-d5bbhut.jpg Nintendo, you got some 'xplaining to do! |

You know, I'm kinda glad that the new game won't come out til October 2013. Gives me enough time to gather money to get a 3DS :lol
|
This looks good but I just don't like the new trainer sprites. I really hope that was just for the advert.

And I'm really looking forward to this game. Loves me some pokemon. I really dig Chespin,Froakie looks kinda cool. Fennekin looks like a recoloured zorua to me though =/ |
I initially wasn't going to stay up to watch the announcement since it was at 5am my time. But I was still up a little bit after 4am and figured why not. I hoped the news was good and it did not disappoint. I was spazzing out in awe during the live stream when they showed the XY preview.

But all of Nintendo's handhelds have been home to at least one mainline Pokémon game. I kind of expect it now. Unless Pokémon has clear signs of fading away, this will be the norm for a while. Quote:

I'm looking forward to X & Y alot. I won't know who I'll start with until I see the final forms of the starters.

Of course, I remain open-minded about the story and look forward to it nonetheless. :) |
The problem with storylines involving genes and etc is that they tend to get overcomplicated way too quickly.
Gen 1 alleviated this problem by having Mewtwo and the cloning and etc be all side story that didn't go too far into detail. I can't imagine how it would be handled here... |

Again, it could be great, and I'm really hoping it is. |
Dudes, we should hold our own Pokémon Tournament.

Never again. I know lots of the more competitive players just like to hack perfect Pokemon into their games, but that's even worse. |
Quote:
Yeah, hacking just gives hackers an unfair advantage. |
