Garo: Golden Wolf Festival Reveals New Projects
2015 will see an amazing SEVEN Garo releases, more than any before!
The cast of "The One Who Shines In Darkness" will return for the new film "Gold Storm" in March, which will serve as Episode 0 to Garo's sixth season (which bears the same name). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbUZp5H2edM The cast of Makai no Hana will also return for a followup film, and a spinoff series following the Makai Priestess Biku. A second season and movie were also confirmed for the Garo anime, "Seal of Flames." And last but not least there's a Garo MUSICAL on the way, "Makai Opera." |
So much Garo and I have only seen the first season :lol

So much for my hopes that Garo would take a break for a year. Seriously, I am burnt out on Garo. And another Makai Priest movie? Wasn't the Jabi/Rekka movie bad enough?
I'll check out the Raiga movie when someone subs it, but that is about it. I hope it is better than Makai no Hana. Finally, I guess they'll give any anime a second season these days whether they are good or not. Quote:

The third season was my favorite, and the only one I was a genuine fan of at all. The others ranged from so-so to kind of boring, so I'm super excited it's getting a new season. Makai no Hana has been okay from what I've seen, but like, nothing happens, it goes back to the episodic structure of the first two shows without having much of an overall plot.

A Garo opera....where can I buy tickets to see this? :lol

All of the YES! All of it.

Man, that's a lot of Garo.
Mark me down as cautiously optimistic. So far there's only been one Garo project I outright didn't like (Black Blood), but the last couple series had some major issues that held them back from real greatness. I'm also concerned because this is definitely what a franchise looks like when it's overextending itself. I'll watch all of this that I can, but I'm not going to assume that it's all going to be automatically amazing because it's Garo. More specific thoughts: The Ryuga movie isn't a surprise, we've known about that for the last year. The fact that we're getting a second Ryuga series is more unexpected, though. I'm up for it; I liked most of the characters from TOWSITD and I liked the greater emphasis on an ongoing plot. I just hope that the visual side of the show is overhauled: more suits, less CGI; more imagination, less "only three Horrors get original designs." I do hope that the movie isn't required viewing before the series, knowing how long it will take for the former to get fansubbed. Also, props for finding a far less clunky subtitle. I'm down for the Makai no Hana movie, too. Raiga was really likeable and I still see a lot of potential in Mayuri. For the love of all that is holy, however, please make some effort to have any form of characterization in the show. Crow, in particular, is still desperately in need of a personality. I'll definitely check out the Biku series (I assume it'll be a miniseries like the Zero one). I like the idea of an internal affairs Makai Priestess and she came off as pretty cool in her few appearances in Makai no Hana. But please get rid of the armor nipple; it was dumb in Batman and it's dumb again here. I'm a little surprised we're already getting more of the anime. I'm not a huge fan, but it has been growing on me. Garo the Musical? Sure, why not? I assume that's going to be a stage thing, though, which means I'm SOL unless there's a recording of it at some point. |
I was going to say Amemiya is interested in having his own idol group.
But then I think it is more a Kaneda thing. :) https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B3InpyRCMAAykeI.jpg Hopefully young idols doing songs (Kamen Rider Girls!?) and shows up in shows as side characters. Bikuu's spinoff has been planned way before Raiga's project. Glad to see it comes true. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B3Ij_WnCQAAFCVa.jpg Ryuga in Chinatown should be the title. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B3IksupCcAAy_gn.jpg Update: Yami wo Terasu Mono's OP and ED are produced by Amemiya. New parts for CR Konchiki ni rare is produced and filmed by Amemiya as well. Gold Storm movie will be written and directed by Amemiya, and He will be the chief director for the TV series. Bikuu movie will start filming next month, Ohashi Akira will be the director, and Amemiya will be the chief director. Makai Revue is an extra project with lots of singing and dancing. Amemiya may not be Raiga movie's director. http://nanatukaze.jugem.jp/?eid=602 Filming of GOLDSTORM movie has been completed a while ago. The crew is currently filming the TV series. http://ameblo.jp/wataru-kuriyama/entry-11956288700.html Garo booth will be at winter Comiket this year. |
I think I see what Garo is trying to become. It seems they're trying to segment the franchise into Past (León), Present (Raiga), and Future (Ryuga). Each with their own casts, writers, and art styles. This gives the shows solid continuity to draw from while leaving them room to breath and do new things. Rotating through these will give variety and everyone will have their favorites. I like it!
