Which Powerpuff Girl is the equivalent of Pink Time Force Ranger Jen?
It's always fun to determine equivalent characters between two different series, so I would like to see your opinion on which Powerpuff Girl is the equivalent of Pink Time Force Ranger Jen.
For me it would definitely be Blossom, because they are both leaders, smart, and wear pink. Bubbles seems to be more of a Kimberly, and Buttercup seems to be more of a Vida. |
There are 3 Powerpuff Girls, each with one major character trait that dominates their personality.
Who the flip else would be Jen's equivalent? |

Buttercup is a brash, angry fighter.
Jen is a determined officer who sometimes let her temper get the better of her. The only comparison is basically "Jen got really angry that one time." It's akin to "Jen has a soft side, so she's also like Bubbles!" There is no comparison. Jen isn't even very similar to Blossom, either. You're taking superficial traits (Colors worn and position on the team) and forcing similarities. She's not even that smart, being on par with, perhaps a little smarter than Katie. She's only smarter than Wes because of the 1000 year time difference, and she's smarter than Lucas because "GOTTA GO FAST." Trip was the "Smart" one on the team. |

Do you know about Time Force? Because Jen's personality isn't "Smart."
She's determined. She's brash. She's head strong. She's tactical. She is "Smart" in a sense, but "Smart" is not a personality. Superficial traits aren't always just outward physical appearance. You're taking a fraction of Jen's personality, declaring it her sole trait, and drawing a comparison. Your first criteria, role, is already loaded. Leader? There's only one leader on a team. So of course there's going to be a forced connection there. However, that means, in the long run, Blossom is more similar to Alex, the original Time Force Red and the original Time Force leader. Why? Because Alex is a smart, team oriented fighter who focuses on battle tactics and by the books fighting. Thus, Alex and Blossom share more traits (Role and personality, since you see "Smart" as a personality) than Jen and Blossom, as the only trait Alex and Blossom don't share is their clothing color. Also, you're unfairly forcing a connection. The Powerpuff girls are intentionally simple. Not just design, but in character traits. Buttercup is a short tempered roughhouser. She rarely strays from that. Bubbles is a happy go lucky, naive dimwit. She rarely strays from that. (Note: Rarely. There are episodes where they do stray, but they never alter status quo and changes in PPG rarely stick past the episode it's introduced). You're taking a team of 3 characters intentionally designed to clash and then putting them up against one other character and asking for a comparison, knowing full well that only one of them will match, just because they both happen to be pink. |

The problem is that you're using color to weigh the opinion at all.
Jen and Blossom share nothing in common beyond their color choice. Jen was straight laced and thought things out, but she wasn't any smarter than your average person. Blossom is book smart and loves to research, study, and learn more. (Some could even make the argument that the Powerpuff Girls didn't have an actual leader, as they tended to brute force their way to win. And no, I don't take the commercial theme of "Blossom, commander and the leader" as marking her as canon leader when Bubbles' plans tended to succeed as often as Blossom's) They really aren't that similar at all. However, there are 3 Powerpuff Girls, and they were created specifically to have clashing personalities. The Powerpuff Girls are incredibly different from each other to achieve a comedic balance. So, plain and simple, Blossom is ONLY similar to Jen by process of elimination. Blossom and Jen are incredibly different from each other. It's just that Jen is more different from Bubbles and Buttercup than she is Blossom. |
