Kamen Rider Build Episode 34- "The Severing Best Match!" Discussion
The powers of Kamen Rider Evol are stronger than any could've anticipated. Evol offers a choice: he will spare Sento's life in exchange for the FullBottles.

Wow...dammit.
|
This feel like end game already and this is before mad rogue, evol rabbit, and genius build. I thought shouichi will play stark for a bit longer. It's kind of disappointing the actor didnt appear much since it's always the blood stark suit. I'm curious what happened to him now. Idk theyll destroy his body.
|
Is this the end of the secondary rider though?
|
I know this sounds bad,but I felt that Kamen Rider Build episodes has become less interested after Evol debut maybe because I have seen so much Rider series.with the same storlyine or maybe watch too much anime where the hero get possessed. Eventually the hero got save by their best friends. For me the best Build episode was Grease debut till the proxy battle with Seito. Or maybe I am too interested with Grease. Sorry to say this

Well, if this series is supposed to be referencing all previous Heisei Rider shows then... here's the Den-O reference I guess. Guy gets possessed and his appearance changes. Evoltaros here we come.
It also continues a trend of making the secondary rider become a bad guy in recent shows... even if perhaps it can sometimes be temporary before they redeem themselves. At least in this instance it was through a means which is against his own will... |
If Evol possesses Sento to gain Evol Rabbit, I feel Evolto will use his powers to revert Sento back to Katsuragi. Switching to his old face.

But what if there was a way for Evolto to take on Takumi’s appearance once he gained Black Hole? Not when he’s possessed Sento but after. |
i actually dislike this development...but I guess it makes sense...
I would prefer he just needs the bottle purified or getting it done from fighting Banjou lol. I guess he will possess Sento next for Rabbit and then create the Black Hole trigger while possessing him. poor Grease...he is now the 'punching bag' rider now.. |
banjou does get released, you can see him fighting sento evol rabbit in the scans
|
can see banjou's body will be possessed is a matter of time
but Stalk as the villain is just so great. a real threat and no emotions. he has to work for his plans from ep 1 till now not like suddenly a strong boss appear |
Finally, a coherent reason for Katsuragi Takumi to leave Faust. I didn't like the explanation of him (Katsuragi) getting a change of heart out of nowhere. This explanation of Takumi sensibly trying to destroy both Evols (Isurugi and Banjou) is a lot more palatable. Although Takumi was really stupid to literally invite his target to his house and then try to kill him. Perhaps he mistakenly thought that he could take Stalk out using the more powerful BuildDriver? The Transteam System is shown to keep the Hazard Level fixed so Takumi probably thought he could out-Hazard Stalk?
On a side note, the fact that Takumi was ready to use the BuildDriver means that he had already doused himself with Nebula Gas. That means Katsuragi Takumi willingly subjected himself to a procedure that had a chance of either killing him (Kasumi) or turning him into a mindless monster (SMASH). Takumi really underwent a personality change after a second dosage of Nebula Gas, didn't he? But then again, both Takumi and Sento share a lot of similarities. Both are egotistical geniuses who aren't afraid to take risks. The difference is that Takumi is overly arrogant, so much so that he thinks he can take on Stalk and yet can be easily duped. Sento, on the other hand, is capable of deceiving and manipulating people to a frighteningly good degree. Furthermore, Takumi was known as the Devil's Scientist who experimented on people with sadistic glee while Sento is a kind soul whose heart broke after accidentally murdering an enemy combatant. There was no reason for me to post this. I just felt like it. By the way, there was a lot of fire in this episode. Real fire, I think. |
The effects where the best part about this episode, the rest was… well, bad. I feel like making Banjou Evol's second half is dumb. And yet another Katsuragi revelation? It really feels like they're continuously introducing yet another twist for past actions and it makes less and less sense every time.
To be honest I never disliked an episode of Build as much as this one. It really feels like they’re taking a step in the wrong direction and do nothing new on the way there either. Needles to say I absolutely hate the body snatching-part. It takes two awesome characters out of the equation, one of them maybe even forever. And all we get in return is an ugly suit and a dumb plot twist. |

Yeah this episode did nothing for me. Not because it's bad but because the show's been such a wild ride that I've been expecting something like this to happen sooner or later, especially as there's about 15-ish episodes left and we have 2 major toys left so obviously something's going to drag a bit for the end game
|
Man, this episode was sure a stumble storywise. Been building (oh me!) up this thing with Banjo for so long, and this is what they came up with? Rehashing of the Emus and Paradoxes? At least skip a season before you go right to using similar story elements.

It's still similar. It's the you are me, I am you angle. It's a common thing in storytelling, I'm not arguing that. My issue was that it was just used, no matter how you dress it up and make it fancy.

Plenty wrong with it. The reveal did nothing for me, because it's something I've already seen done recently. It's lazy. Pure and simple.
And Banjo is the only good character. The rest are terrible. The show itself only had it's story going for it and even that's a crapshoot at this point. |
I wouldn't mind if blood stark stick to being an evil asshole right from the start instead of him being possess. Everyone comes in contact with the light of the box becomes power hungry. The box manipulates everyone despite not having sentient being within.

i dont think soichi is dead, he didnt get any flowers.

Man that was a good episode of Kingdom Hearts Birth By Slee-I mean Kamen Rider Build.
Seriously though got some really strong Kingdom Hearts vibes from that final confrontation and the result. But man that was some intense stuff. |

Build has enough of a unique storyline to borrow some aspects of previous seasons I feel. Onto the episode, I actually like it a lot, if only because you could really believe that Banjo is the main protagonist of the series. He's probably one of the most well-developed and important secondary Riders we've seen in the franchise. And I really don't think this is the last we see of Souichi. You've got to remember Souichi has had stretches of episodes where he doesn't appear outside of the suit. I figure the actor probably has other things going on, so they keep finding ways to work around his schedule. Plus with him being Misora's dad and all, this really doesn't feel like a "death" episode for such a major character. He'll be back. Likely just in time for Blackhole form. |
Build has broken excellent ground in being a secondary rider who has as much plot significance as the main rider.
He is such a strongly written character that as I had mentioned before, he can star in his own Rider series and it would not come off as weak. |

Okay I'm back to not being on board with the Ryuga backstory. I mean I was fine with it two episodes ago when they used it as a way to reinforce his character and beliefs but as far as it's contribution to the shows plot, it still feels like a rather unnecessarily thing to do. Like I didn't need this super secret backstory that Banjo is half alien, that he is part of Evolt, that Takumi tried to kill him in the past in order to get invested in his character. I was already invested in him through his relationship with Sento and the rest of the cast, and how that relationship has pushed him to become the person he is now. As is, the actual backstory just seems like a contrived way to make everything seem "connected". Not saying this is a bad episode, just this direction for Banjo character seems like the wrong one to take. The fight between Cross-Z and Evol was really cool though, there's something awesome about a suit literally jumping through fire.

Back on topic: Nanba is too dumb to live

And right behind using Shocker's jock strap to revive him.

Is anyone else bothered by the lack of explanation behind the EvolBottles? We know one came from Mars, the other was damaged and had to be re-created (the Rider System one probably) but at no point did they explain how to make them, what they are and why Evolt needs them to transform. The Dragon-one literally appeared out of nowhere too.
It's not on the Yomotsuheguri-level of the "being pulled right out of one’s behind"-scale yet but it's close. |
I always love it when they make suit actors run through a bunch of dangerous fires!
I enjoyed the episode itself, but I hope to see the whole Evol Dragon thing handled a bit more elegantly in the coming episodes. The pacing in this one felt too fast to me, it felt like it should have been 2 episodes instead of 1. |
