Do you think Ultraman should have more Secondary Ultramen?
Secondary Riders and Sixth Rangers are popular in Kamen Rider and Super Sentai/Power Rangers, but in Ultraman, only a few series has them and even when they did, these Ultras does not appear much. Yes, Gaia had Agul and Agul is very famous yet he was written out of the show (and only came back IIRC because he's so popular).
For other series, Leo had Astra, 80 had Yullian, and Cosmos has Justice who only appears in the movies (Justice was meant to be the main protagonist but Cosmos was thrown in due to his market value), Max had Xenon but he only appeared in two episodes (which is a damn huge shame because he has such a fantastic design). Hikari is also one of the most notable secondary Ultra, and as a result he is also rather popular to the point where he is credited with developing the Ultra Capsules. For the New Generation Ultramen, while he is part of the main NG Ultramen (like Riderman), Victory is without a doubt a secondary Ultra. And surprisingly Zero in Geed takes this role as well. Granted, R/B and Taiga has more than 1 Ultraman, but they are co-protagonists. I get that Ultraman is in the end the smaller show especially nowadays meaning they don't really have time to develop a new character, but I really wanted to see the archetypal sixth ranger in Ultramen. What do you think? Do you want more secondary Ultras? |
On one hand, No. I really like the original Ultraman, and Ultraman 80, and Max, and Mebius, and prefer solo Ultra heros growing into the role of being a hero.
....on the other hand I freaking LOVED GEED, and thought the dynamic of him and Zero was fantastic. So off the cuff feeling is, "No"... but if done really well where I like all the characters (and I liked every character in Geed),.. then sure why not? |
I don’t oppose the idea of multiple ultras as long as it is not overused. Side note, I wanna see a season where it is just one ultra and the space patrol equivalent gets a humanoid fighting robot that aids the titular ultra during mid-season because they are pissed that their little toy jet fighters are pea shooters in comparison. A God Zenon equivalent of sorts would be nice.

But yeah they really should have a mecha of their own. Attack teams often fail because they are practically useless, and when Ultraman finally ditched selling their toys in favor of DX roleplay it shows in toy sales. |
Ultraman is fine without secondary one.
