RUMOR: Next Possible Sentai to be Adapted after Beast Morphers!?
I saw this and thought it should be shared.
I am taking this with a grain of salt, cause I have my doubts! I won't mention which Sentai was mentioned here, but I will include the link and let everyone judge the validity of this assumption on their own. https://comicbook.com/powerrangers/2...e-next-season/ |
Of all the dumb reasons people have given for why certain Sentai shouldn’t be adapted (the capes would be obstructive, StarNinger is racist to Americans) this is the stupidest
|
I still say they should save Ryusoulger for the 30th anniversary.

its pretty stupid to go back to dinosaurs when we like, just had them though |

I am not familiar with this source, though. I speculate as to what Hasbro's intentions are! |
Supposedly the given reason for skipping Kyuranger is the large roster of rangers and Yellow’s helmet being a safety hazard. Sounds like BS to me.
|
Simple. Dinosaurs sell toys. From what I understand Beast Morphers isn’t doing well on toy sells. Hasbro is likely wanting to play it safe.
|
I still really want to see what a Power Rangers adaptation of LuPat would look like.
|
Yeahhh I would rather them saving Ryusoulger for 30th anniversary. Kyuranger can't be adapted because of huge cast is stupid considering that half of the Rangers can be casted by voice actors and stuntmen.

RyuSoulger should be a 30th Anniversary, but if Hasbro were to do it sooner, then it would showcase a completely new era for the franchise by echoing Mighty Morphin'/Zyuranger which was themed around...Dinos. Also, if one were to speculate and advocate on behalf of Hasbro, one could argue that a series on Dinos could work in conjunction if they were to try and sell a new movie continuity themed after...Dinos! Kyuranger would have to be minimized to the main team and virtually devoid of recurring non-Ranger characters. Kajiki Yellow's mask could be modified easily as Neo-Saban/Hasbro weren't afraid of re-shoots. A wide shot of a Kyuranger team attack would probably be too quick for everyone to notice a big difference, anyway. LuPat would have to be altered heavily to avoid issues, and I have an idea as to how: Personal Adaptation Opinion: Since much of the Lupin Collection is a wink-and-a-nod to Sentai Mecha/Changers/Weapons, then perhaps the Collection Pieces should be altered or alternate versions of what they represent? The Collection Piece that resembles Zyusouken/Dragon Dagger could be the actual Dragon Dagger! The Collection Piece that resembles Gunmajin/Auric the Conqueror could be a green redeco of Auric! The command structure of "Adaptation Patranger" don't know or don't care or are being manipulated as to the value of the Collection. The "Adaptation Lupinranger" aren't actually thieves, as they only "steal" the Collection to return it to the Rangers! Going a little further, I would also argue for making the "Adaptation Lupinranger" commissioned officers from a possible future/alternate timeline in which something BIG happened and Rangers no longer exist, forcing the team to go back and secure Ranger Artifacts from the "Adaptation Gangler" who would abuse such power! Just a thought or two! |
I think you can easily just not make the Lupinrangers thieves, yeah. BM shows a willingness to have very little non-mecha stock footage for starters; and the Lupinrangers’ aesthetics wouldn’t immediately come across as thieves since Phantom Thieves just don’t have the cultural relevance and recognition in the US and UK as they do in Japan. Capes, masks and style would more likely bring to mind superheroes rather than criminals and you can use that to your advantage.

Unrelated but seriously where the fucking hell are the Racer and Wrecker Zord toys?! I have not seen a single damn one in stores, also Gorilla but I am not as annoyed with that. Hopefully it's not this bad when the Lion Zord comes out as I been looking forward to that one.

As for the idea that gentlemen thieves aren't culturally relevant in the west... I mean, I guess I don't have intimate knowledge of what kids are into nowadays, so maybe, but I think the fact that the Lupins were named after a western character has to count for something here, right? Somebody feel free to fill me in if I'm missing something, but I just don't see what the actual issue would be with doing a straightforward LuPat adaptation, unless the people in charge of Power Rangers are just that scared of ruffling feathers. I remember thinking the idea they wouldn't do Kyoryuger because the transformation device was a gun seeming pretty plausible, and they went for that, so... Mind you, none of this means I'm actually expecting LuPat to get used. Ryusoulger is just begging to be adapted, since dinosaurs hold that extra significance to Power Rangers, and I don't think a relatively short gap between it and Dino Charge would stop them from using it ASAP, especially since from Hasbro's perspective it's something they haven't done yet. |
I would think Hasbro would skip LupinVsPat because the suits and mecha are awful. :/

Also..... Beast Morphers are bombing? Damn. Back then when it was announced Hasbro would do Go-Busters people thought it was a ballsy move since Go-Busters had low toy sales. Though I would like it if they were bombing because of the quality of the show but that's another matter. |

Like, Lupin The Third is far more recognizable in the English-speaking world than a pulp novel character from turn-of-the-20th-century France. If Lupato is adapted in the US, I fully expect the Lupins to be billed as Batman-esque super heroes. |

I guess there's an argument to be made that the Lupinrangers were mostly self-interested, which would clash with PR's usual "the world needs us, Rangers" attitude, but again, whether or not the characters would be stealing things, in of itself, has absolutely no bearing on how heroic their motivations are, and as an adaptation, the hypothetical PR version is totally free to emphasize how they're taking the Lupin Collection equivalent for the good of mankind or whatever. I guess it's not like I have any real inkling what they'd do with it if they did decide to adapt it. Downplaying motifs from the Sentai isn't anything new, so I suppose it wouldn't exactly surprise me if they went in a direction like you're saying, but it's a striking enough premise I could also see them wanting to use it, and I don't think it'd take that much work to make fit. Unless I'm way overthinking this and we're simply discussing the issue of whether or not the show would want to outright call them thieves, or some other word that directly implies criminal activity? In that case... maybe? I mean, two of the Rangers in SPD were reformed thieves, so we're sorta halfway there already. I'll concede in a heartbeat that nobody working on the brand probably wants merchandise with a logo that says, like, "Power Rangers Thief Force" on it, so I don't think the team's actual name would be so blunt, but at the very least, I think the show itself would not feel obligated to skirt the issue in any way. |

Oh also regarding this rumor, the person who reported this on Illuminerdi is trying way too hard to convince that his source is legit and we should trust him bwcause he's the one who reported that Austin St John would be back, and Yoshi Sudarso would also be back thus everytjing he reported should be true. It's rather hilarious. Hell, here's the quote I know what you’re thinking. Who is this person to claim what the new season is going to be? What credibility does he have? Well, I broke some of the biggest Power Rangers news at my old outlet, That Hashtag Show. I broke that Austin St. John would be returning for the Dino Team-Up in Beast Morphers, I also reported that Koda would be returning for the Christmas Episode of Power Rangers Ninja Steel, and one I’m really proud of is which Rangers were returning for the 25th anniversary of Power Rangers, Dimensions in Danger. This information is from the same source that told me Roxy and Blaze would be Enter and Escape from Go-Buster. Having recently departed That Hashtag Show, I’m now bringing all of my Power Rangers exclusives right here to The Illuminerdi. |

A "cops vs some guys they don't like" angle is exactly the same as a "cops want to arrest Spider-Man/Batman/Green Arrow/whatever vigilante" angle. That is one of the most common tropes in US super hero fiction. It's also not different enough from "cops vs robbers" to really change much, IMO. It just makes the concept clearer for young, American children. Quote:

This will probably sound sarcastic, but thank you for trying to explain this to me twice. This was genuinely a little enlightening. :lol |
They should just milk Go-Busters as much as they can and adapt Kiramager when it is over.

It'd be great if they went back to the 1 series per year format, but considering the 2-season format has proven to improve toy sales(mostly), I doubt they will. So assuming they continue doing the 2-season format, I'd say do Zyuohger for 2021-22, then Ryusoulger for the 30th Anniversary. Kyuranger can be done for 2025-26 so as to easily justify an SPD crossover.
Although, it'd be hilarious if instead of a new series for 2025 they just reran all of SPD, lol. |
When you think about it LuPat is the most perfect series to do the 2-season format.

Saying Kajiki Yellow's pointy visor is a safety hazard thus no Kyuranger to be honest is UTTERLY LAME. If it's such a hazard then shrinking it down for just the toy and explain that it's for safety reasons, no harm to it. It's not like Kajiki Yellow will pop out of the TV screen as if he was Sadako from The Ring and poke us with its death visor. Heck, Bandai shrunk the visor for their sofubi toy of Kajiki Yellow and rightfully so.

Another stupid is reason is the large cast. If they followed Kyuranger exactly, they only need 5 actual actors while 4 would be suit actors and voiced, which is cheap anyway. Plus Hasbro seems to be willing to pour out money for the series' budget. |

I don't necessarily doubt he's right, I just doubt the reasoning. Either he's being fed BS or he's BSing himself about why it was skipped.

Hasbro is willing to put out more money than Saban so we definitely need to get out of that Neo-Saban mindset. As for which season gets adapted who knows really. Just because Jason comes back doesn't mean were getting another dinosaur season after Beast Morphers. This definitely plays into the Zyuranger, Abaranger, Kyoryuger and GoBusters team-up films, and we are getting Dino Charge actors in this season 2 special, but Jason isn't a crownbearer of anything dinosaur related, that's usually Tommy because of Dino Thunder. Jason was also Zeo Gold for a period of time. I could see a connection to Zyuohger since that takes place on a different planet, and early PR made use of intergalactic travel. If they wanted to make it an epic they could use Kyuranger to get to the Zyuohger planet. Hasbro could bring back veteran PR actors from the Zordon era into the Kyuranger adaptation, and have the second season take place on a foreign world with a new team a la Zyuohger. But that's just a theory.
