Which Screaming Red ranger you can’t stand the MOST?
Here’s a list of Screaming Red Ranger
* Yousuke Shiina/Hurricane Red * Banban Akaza/Dekared * Kai Ozu/MagiRed * Jan Kandou/GekiRed * Sosuke Esumi/Go-on Red * Daigo Kiryu/Kyoryu Red * Takaharu Igasaki/AkaNinger * Lucky/Shishi Red Out of those Screaming Reds, I can’t stand Daigo and Takaharu the most. I feel Riku Sanjo focus way too much on Daigo and I get he’s Red Ranger but he was hogging the spotlight from his comrade and I didn’t get the team vibe at all and he always says “We’re a Sentai” and yet, he did most of thing by himself with no help from his comrade. Takaharu is much worse than Daigo and he’s the reason of why I stopped watching Ninninger. He got stupid catchphrase and he’s getting all the attention within first couple episodes of Ninninger. I don’t care if you say his acting got better, I still refused and will never watch Ninninger anytime soon. I bet Ninninger could been franchise killer since their toy sales was awful! This is what Toei get for focus way too much on Takaharu and Ninninger wasn’t anniversary show that Toei wanted. I glad they tone down the whole Screaming Red Ranger with Zyuohger and Lupinranger. Lupin Red is much more serious and tragic Red Ranger than Patren 1Gou and I glad Patren 1Gou wasn’t another annoying Screaming Red Ranger. What is your least-favorite Screaming Red Ranger. |
Dekared
Magired Gekired Go-on red. |
We're not counting Kyuranger?
I actually dislike Lucky more than Takaharu. And I'm amazed I could dislike a red more than Takaharu. |

I willing to bail on any future Sentai show that focus way too much on Screaming Red Ranger. That cliche need to die. |

The only sentai I've seen are the ones from Gokaiger onwards -- which, from what I'm gathering; was probably a bad idea as that's a pretty bad era for Sentai comparitively speaking. Everyone here's saying the 80s and 90s were the golden years and everyone loves Dekaranger and yadda yadda.
... but I digress. Even from watching just those seven so far; I've gotta say, it's funny how the ones with 'screaming reds' are the ones at the bottom for me while the rest are on the upper eschelon. Gokaiger, Gobusters and Toqger are my top 3; while Zyuohger is squarely in the middle. Kyoryuger, Kyuranger and Ninninger are at the bottom. I just found it funny how it lined up like that. And just to finish up this mess of a post in terms of its narrative flow, I'll also say that Zyuohger's red actually ended up being my second favourite. You really appreciate a calmer, more level-headed Red like him after Kyoryuger, Ninninger and to some extent Toqger. I really like Yamato and he's one of my favourite Sentai rangers period. |

If I were to write Sentai show, my Red Ranger would be less screaming and more calmer. Just saying. EDIT: I think the head writer of Zyuohger and Recently Lupinranger VS. Patranger, Junko Komura might be not the fan of Screaming Red Ranger cause Yamato and Kairi doesn’t scream a lot and they are serious character. That’s my theory. |
I didn't mind Takaharu. Maybe it's because that was one of the first seasons I watched, so I wasn't annoyed by the trope yet. Lucky, however, drove me crazy.
|
Lucky got on my nerves a lot in the beginning. But he toned it down after a while. Hell, his catchphrase was even kind of contagious. Even his formerly brainwashed father said it just before killing himself by activating the blackhole kyutama to stop a huge bomb from destroying the universe.
|
Lucky was just the worst.
|
I hate Daigo, but it wasn't because he was a screaming idiot. Just part of it.
Lucky, however, I couldn't stand. |
I hope 2019 Sentai doesn’t have Screaming Red Ranger cause for this reason.
2013- Kyoryuger have Daigo 2015- Ninninger have Takaharu 2017- Kyuranger have Lucky I’m praying 2019 Sentai Red Ranger won’t be even worse than those guys. What is up with Toei’s obsession with Screaming Reds? That cliche been done to death! |

EDIT: Screaming Red Rangers are not very interesting characters and they come up as annoying characters. Why would I get invested on characters that just scream all day long? Not interesting to me. |
Wait, Takaharu's actor can scream? :p

Wasn't Leo from Zyuohger a screaming ranger? If so then it is possible to do one right.
I don't get all the hate for Daigo though I only seen half of Kyuranger so maybe the other half will make it more clear to me. If I had to decide between Takaharu and Lucky I would say Lucky is the worst but that's because I stopped about halfway through Ninninger. So I didn't have to deal with Takaharu much unlike Lucky because for some reason I hated myself so much that I watched all ok Kyuranger. Both of them are awful and their respective shows were also really bad. |
Lucky I admit has... more problems than just this that makes me dislike him more. This is more a part of it than a majority.
|
What're people talking about when they're saying Lucky "grew out of it?" He never stopped annoying the audience with his catchphrase, in fact, it got to the point where it became contagious & spread out to the entire frickin team!!! In fact, didn't the Finale have the entire frickin population at one point saying it?! If that doesn't scream "Gary Stu," I don't know what else does, and that's one of the biggest things that keeps me from ever liking Lucky as a Red Ranger in Super Sentai. He's AWFUL, and definitely one of the worst we've gotten in years.
That being said though....yea, I never even really finished Ninninger, and I'd probably bet that he's worse just going off of what I saw & know of him. But the two aren't far from each other in quality. LOL |
Yousuke wasn't that bad, at least back in 2002.

Lucky was difficult to deal with in the first episode, but I felt that he grew into a strong leader fairly quickly. He was able to rally the team in desperate times and his team supported him in the most dangerous and uncertain of situations. He's got a catchphrase...well, so do most other Sentai reds as of late? Lucky was rarely ever selfish and believed in his friends at times they were doubting themselves - which I think is where his mantra about having good luck works out. It's not that he believes everything is going to work out all the time because he's got great luck, it's that, to him, his luck is being surrounded by people he trusts to help reach a collective goal and that's why he's always got such a confident attitude. |
Honestly, while I get why people thought Lucky was annoying with his catchphrase, I'd still say he's better than Takaharu in that department.
Purely because Lucky knows how to emote and use his vocal cords to yell, when he calls out "Yosha Lucky!" you can tell his actor is putting his all into it. Takaharu meanwhile with his "I'm fired up!" or whatever catchphrase, it feels like the actor is trying to bring it out in a yell but is purposely holding himself back and making it more awkward, which in turn just makes it worse overall. |

Although, I could blame the head writer for the reason of why Ninninger was bad Sentai show but I feel Toei was overhyping and pushing way too hard on Ninninger as “greatest anniversary Sentai show” and it wasn’t anniversary show they wanted and it might be considered to be the biggest disaster for Sentai. I think Ninninger might be one of forgettable Sentai show IMO. |

Either way, the 'anniversary' stuff is one of the things I'd highlight as a positive of the show. It was intelligently used, helped solidify the show's themes, and provided some nice worldbuilding -- which I find especially important when otherwise the show's worldbuilding is incredibly confusing. |

Lucky was an inspirational leader, I'll give him that. But he is a HORRIBLE character. He has ZERO character development, and instead just preaches to others on improving their flaws. He's a Gary Stu who has little towards actually EARNING anything. There's a reason why Reds like Takeru are revered as the best: Because they had flaws they needed to overcome within themselves, and end up being better than they were at the beginning. |
I heavily dislike that Lucky's big developments, revelations and powerups all happen not because he himself has learned anything or moves forward as a person but because he just happens to have cool dads. He gets power to save the universe because it turns out he was a prince all along.
It's such an incredibly old and bad message that I'm amazed it's not portrayed as ironic. |
Lucky. I can't stand to watch him for just a few minutes in kamen rider ex-aid crossover episode.
|
Lucky is pretty terrible, however, the rest of the cast is awesome enough to make up for it.
Daigo on the other hand, needs to be given a catheter filled with bullet ant venom while being beaten with a sack of africanized bees. |

On an entirely unrelated note, I just realized a great way to end my Kamen Rider Ghost Onari fanfic. ;) |
Takaharu the worst Sentai Red I ever seen with his I'm fired up crap ugh. I hated him the most and he wasn't even a good leader for his team. I glad not every Sentai has a loudmouth red like him. There a reason why Sentai red leaders like Shinken Red and Gokai Red make Sentai so much fun to watch cause that how a leader should act.
