Of all the people I expected Ark-One to be... this was a result I did not even think of.
|
At the start I didn't even think this was a possibility, but somehow the moment he crashed down I was like "wait, could it be..." and it turns out my gut was right.
I'm curious if they can pull this off because... Yeah, the last three episodes, including this one all had one or two massive problems that prevented me from enjoying them, so I'm kinda pessimistic about how this will play out... |
|
Well Shit I did not see this happening. Main rider becoming the final boss just damn. This was a shocking ep of zero one Toei kept Ark One host a secret and it surprise me wow.
I can't wait to see how all of this will play out in the next few eps. And could everyone get destroy like the way Gaim riders did hmm I wonder? |

The only characters I could see to really bite the bullet are Horobi and Gai. |
ME AND MY GRANDMA WERE SHOOK
We expected it to be Gai or even like the simulation, Horobi. Our minds is baffled, literally everything I thought was gonna happen is out of the question... Big props to Aruto's actor, the pain in his voice really got to me. |

Of course, there's also the movie, so... |

Huh, well that certainly caught me off guard. It's a great twist, though.
Gonna throw a guess here, and say that Fuwa will end up becoming Zero Two in order to knock Aruto back to his senses. |
so where were Ikazuchi and Naki when this all was happening? Working as employees at Hiden Intelligence?
Good to see Fuwa and Yaiba transforming again... also wondering why they used OG Wolf form in this episode lol.. Hope they explain how he can use the Ark Driver...since so far only HumaGears have been using it... |
I honestly think this all would have made more sense if Izu were a human cause there would be no way of bringing her back Aruto's rage as it stands just feels more like angst and whining since he can EASILY just bring her back, I get what they're trying to do (Toei deciding to cut their losses due to COVID probably played a factor of this)
|
If this show ends with Aruto destroying the world as Ark-One I would love it honestly.
Alternatively, Aruto gets killed by the other Riders who then carry on his dream. That would also make for a unique ending. The reality of what will happen though is that his friends will find a way to separate him from Ark-Zero and he transforms into Zero-Two again to finish what's left of the Ark. But I really did not expect this turn at all and I like it. Quote:
I know what you mean of course, even with this information they could still easily find a way to bring her back (secret backup or something) but it would be neat if they actually stick to their rules. Personally I expect that Izu will "overwrite" Azu and we'll have a scene where she dramatically cuts her hair or something. |

We all thought Ark One was Black Hole Evol, but it's actually Ohma Zi-O!
Oh my gosh, if you thought the final form debates were unnecessary before... Quote:

Technically speaking, she shouldn't have been running around anyway since she's missing her memory unit since the creation of the key and we all knew how that ended for Was. |

Hu...so are we supposed to answer with the spoiler tag or not?
Because seriously...I didn't imagine one bit that Aruto would become Ark One, also, for someone who haven't watched the .5 episodes, I feel like I'm missing something with Azu. I'm confused because it has been established since day one that Izu cannot be restored and I understand that such an event could turn anyone to seek revenge but it's so not...Aruto...and at the same time it makes sense. Anyway, I feel some shenanigans coming up with the all Azu/Izu schtick, since they could talk to each other this episode I presume that there is some kind of backup for Izu inside Azu. I have absolutely no idea where this is going. |
This episode was really intense. One thing that really struck me was the background music, it just seemed haunting.
I do have to admit that this episode is one of those that really strikes hard. It is hands down one of my favorite episodes of anything I've seen recently. |

This one was pretty much perfect, right? Like I seriously can't even reach for things to complain about. They totally nailed it. It's an episode of Zero-One that I actually feel touched on every little corner of the show in a positive way. We finally get some clarification on what exactly Gai's situation is, with him finally being removed from his position. From context we can also make some assumptions about how ZAIA as a whole views his actions through new guy, who makes it pretty clear the only reason they're upset with him is because he lost control of his mess. Plus, new guy is also pretty much certainly the one who brought back Jin, finally explaining why the Slashriser is ZAIA-branded, and Gai's remark from way back where he said his return was 100% within his expectations, i.e., he did not expect it at all. We also get to see Valkyrie again, and even Shooting Wolf for no reason! While Naki and Ikazuchi stay totally out of the picture for a bit, it's an all around fantastic episode when it comes to giving all the Riders their due (and some great action), and that's only all the more true for Horobi, who gets a ton of fantastic character moments, as you'd expect out of an episode with such a heavy focus on him. His development right now is the more gradual kind of redemption (?) I wish Gai could've had. Meanwhile, the other character the episode foucses on, Izu, acts as a natural parallel to all his growth, and, again, it all just clicks. Izu is at her absolute best here, and I love the way they really push how human she's become, with her starting the episode with a bad dream, and then consciously lying to Aruto out of concern for his safety. She's extremely active in this plot, and it's very easy to root for her as she attempts to keep the situation from escalating all on her own. Which makes it a real punch to the gut when it doesn't work out that way. The big emotional moment of this episode completely landed for me. The show's this close to the end, so it's probably way past time for me to finally mention how utterly beautiful Gou Sakabe's soundtrack for Zero-One is. There is no doubt in my mind that it surpasses his work on Ghost, which was already one of the best sets of BGM in the franchise. The music in Zero-One is so intensely emotional it can sell even a scene that isn't working anywhere near as hard on the writing front, so when everything IS working on that same level, oh man, it's just *magical*. Tasaki's direction throughout the whole episode and especially in that scene is similarly on-point, and gives it the weight the moment deserves. It felt like the biggest deal ever, just as it ought to. This was a real A+ episode of Zero-One, with some genuinely shocking turns that felt considered and smart, and I can't wait to see where it goes in these last few weeks, especially if it means giving Fumiya Takahashi more chances to prove what I've been saying this whole year about how good his acting as Aruto is, because man did he kill it in this one. |
One of the theories I had weeks before the reveal was Aruto becoming Ark One, since I'd be like a throwback to Kamen Rider ZO where Doras took over ZO and became Red Doras. But how he became Ark One of his own free will was a big surprise. Who knows how this is going to end, since the voice actor for Ark got the flowers.
|
Who knows when Izu can be revived to save Aruto. Hope she becomes a rider.
|
I think the issue of whether or not Izu can come back via backup or be restored, doesn't actually matter so much as the fact that Aruto does not see things that way.
Aruto since the moment he greeted Yui (the Humagear who was working at the amusement park) back in episode 1 has been established as someone who thinks of humagears as people (despite the obvious and staggering number of differences) even in ways other people wouldn't. To him, it doesn't matter if he can just go back to Hiden, whip out the Izu ProgRise Key, and just upload her back into a new body, it's the fact that she "died" that upsets him. It's like when Nico got infected by Parad's bugster virus back in Ex-Aid, just because Kuroto says she'll be revived as a bugster later (due to her being infected with the virus) doesn't make the dying part magically not hurt anymore. |

That could also be amplified for me because I don't really care that much about Zero-One's crew as characters beyond Fuwa and Gai. |
So my hunch is that Aruto is the show's Final Boss and it will take all the Riders (Vulcan, Valkyrie, Jin, Horobi, Thouser and maybe Naki and Ikazuchi if the show remembers them) to take him down. Aruto, realizing how dangerous he is now, gets the other Riders to kill him.
Then a Humagear is created that is modeled after him to carry on his dream, much like what happened with Soreo Hiden. That way, kids won't be left too traumatized and Aruto can appear in the inevitable Reiwa crossover movies. Or maybe they pull a Kamen Rider Blade on us, and Aruto just straight up distances himself from humanity and Humagears. Hell, maybe that was his plan all along, to take Ark for himself and carry that burden. |
No matter what happens, at least there's no chance of them resetting the universe for the third finale in a row, right!?
|
And so the Skywall split the fandom into three individual ones:
-Metal Cluster Hopper -Zero-Two -Ark-One |
I’m almost thinking Izu will stay dead. Aruto is consumed by grief right now, he doesn’t seem to be fully conscious and Ark/Azu/that key is clearly manipulating him in this weakened state. The only way he can win is by letting go of his malice himself, rather than having the source of that malice be rendered null. He has to forgive Horobi, or at least not hate him, and it needs to be Aruto who does that. I think bringing her back, at least for him, will undercut that.
I wonder if Aruto may even sacrifice himself to destroy Ark. The potential for a meaningful conclusion to this story is there, I just hope they don’t cop out. |
I don't think Aruto is going to sacrifice himself to destroy Ark. I think he will attempt to overcome it from within and use the power for good.
He's going to make a joke about maLICE being treatable with shampoo and the Ark will implode because the pun game is too strong. Then he gets an all-white, single episode, final final form with Izu highlights. |
Quite "human" for the way Aruto is written.
The guy with the biggest hopes will have the hardest falls. And for a guy to have gone through so much, its really not surprising that he becomes Ark One, especially when his morality pet bites the arrow. One way they might end this series is if he shoulders all that burden and takes Ark out. I'm not betting on it, but it would make an interesting ending to a Rider series. After all we did have Fruit Jesus leave Earth, anything can happen to the main rider really. |

After seeing how he has been having doubts and briefly losing hope in previous episodes I'm not surprised he finally snapped
|
I assume* we'll get a final showdown between Zero-Two and Ark-One, but the question is, how?
I wouldn't be surprised if that final battle was entirely symbolic and inside Aruto's mind, just the two of them fighting in that "simulation" space as a metaphor for Aruto struggling against Ark's control. *(I could be wrong, but I'll be shocked if that's actually the case.) |

What if Aruto becomes the big bad for the whole Reiwa first decade?
Here he is, a man who was so optimistic, so full of life, devastated when a father of dedication murder a child of hope, turns into a depressing husk of humanity and used by the eve of evil as the vessel of Devil. And he ended up destroying all he cared for. And it takes ten generations of heroes to take him down. And a man who walks through worlds. Destroyer meets Destroyer, who shall win? (and Ohma-Zio just sit still on his throne, because he knows exactly how this plays out and feeds into his rise of power) |

Furthermore, though it’s a cool idea, Sabre’s plot has a very clear fantasy theme, and already, it’s villains are established as being ancient - like the Gurongi or the Lords, or the Greeed - so that’s not really possible. |
Well, It can still be possible if TOEI is pushing it.
But nevermind, let's see how Aruto pulls himself out of this funk |
I wouldn't really like that, anyway. I think for one season it could potentially be a cool idea, to have the main Rider having to take down last season's; but after the second year you'd be kinda sick of it, never mind 10. One of the great things about Rider to begin with is how most seasons are standalone stories that are all allowed to do their own thing and be wildly different from the last, and having the objective of each be having to deal with some edgy Evol Black Hole wannabe would quickly diminish that. Aruto's angst over his dead secretary is not capable of carrying a story for long.
Besides... honestly, I'm a bit sick of Zero-One and wanna quickly move on. This past stretch of episodes has been dire and I'm ready for something new. |
