Well that is awfully nice of you guys to do this. I guess I'll start.
My favorite moment of this past year has been the new Garo series. Garo is and will forever be my favorite toku. I also just love how quick you guys are with the toy coverage so yeah. Thanks guys. |
Oh, that is tough. I'm assuming that means AkibaRanger? If so, it has got to be the moment in AkibaRanger when Melshina kept turning into the girl Nobuo had a crush on and then shooting him.
For Garo, it would be the battle between Garo and Shadow Garo in the air. And even though it did not air this year specficially, the CarRanger episode of Gokaiger. |
well since i cant say anything about ooo, im gonna have to go with akibayellow's yaoi freakout explosion :lolol
|
^Tough indeed, 2012 was a HUGE year for Toku, there's so many memorable events that it's hard to single out which one.
I think for me, it would be probably be Super Hero Taisen. Yes, the movie itself was subpar and kinda meh, but it was still kind of a big deal. I was pretty damned excited when they first announced the film, as I imagined what a team up between Gokaiger and Decade would be like. |

Gokaiger had such an amazing final episode, with more, previously unseen Rangers getting their Ranger Keys back. The best was the final moment: Tsuyoshi Kaijou appearing out of costume, giving his blessing and transforming into Akaranger, assuring us that all was well again in the world of Super Sentai.

Kamen Rider - Fourze. The dual episodes where Ryuusei finally finds Ares. Him killing Gentaro, and then the discovery of the Cosmic State. Every episode of Fourze was my favorite moment but that sticks in my mind as the best pair of episodes.
Sentai - It would've been something from Gokaiger. But with everything that keeps coming out about it, it's becoming Jyuden Sentai Kyoryuger. From the writer onward I'm loving everything about this series to come. Power Rangers - The moment when they announced Megaforce would be Goseiger, and the disturbance in the Force I felt when Kickback screamed in horror. Knowing he'd owe me a Gosei Knight. :lol It's been a great year. And I cannot thank you guys enough for deciding to make me the mod of the Megaforce forums. Thank you all. And to all the friends I made on here. OOO, Meteor, Bot, Zeo, Den. Matrix when he leaves Decade alone. Thank you all. |
My favorite Toku moment from this year actually comes from a show from 2006.
Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger. The decision to re-watch (And finish) this series was a great decision. I'm looking back and wondering why I didn't get into it the first time around... Anyway, my favorite moment from that was the final battle, Gekirangers vs. Long, which was also the moment where Kurojishi Rio and Mele were officially classified as rangers. It was a super energetic and fun battle, and the kind of climax I wish all series could have. However, this might not qualify because this was a '06 series. So, my favorite Toku moment from this year (Which actually aired this year) came from Kamen Rider Fourze, specifically, the goodbye. Both Kengo's goodbye to his friends and later the KRC's goodbye to AGHS. While I'm not a big fan of teary moments, and tend to tear up due to the emotion of the room, and not actual sadness, this one got to me. A farewell as characters, a farewell from the actors, and a farewell to a fun series. Quote:

My favorite Toku moments were the OOO moments in SuperHero Taisen. Even the (very weak) all combo Gokai-change by the Gokaigers. That made the movie tolerable in some aspect for me.
Non-toku-show-yet-somehow-Tokunation-related moment was the Tokunation "Presidential Elections." That was fun :lol Also all my newly made friends :) |

Make it hard then Den!
I think I'm going to choose Fourze. That's one of the most memorable moments for me from a series I watched this year, that came from this year.. sort of. It ended this year. |

And contrary to popular belief, there is some Gokaiger that I liked. I enjoyed Vs. Gavan and 199 Heroes. It's just that Vs. Gavan just didn't have the moments good enough for number 1 and 199 Heroes was just too flawed. x3 |

Threatening to break their legs had no influence on their decisions. |
I think my favorite moment of the year is, in perhaps a cheat, technically from last year: the big fight scene from the end of Movie Wars MegaMax where W and the Legendary Seven take on the Greeds. The specific moment is seeing the Showa Riders use their finishing moves without the use of poorly edited together shots that clearly don't match up physically.

I don't think I could pick only one. The Gokaiger finale is one of them. Super Hero Taisen as well. Especially the OOO Ranger Keys. Fourze 31-32 was also great, along with the finale. And all of Akibaranger.
Oh and technically ALL of the Kamen Rider I've watched so far has occured in 2012 as I didn't get into it until April. Seems like it's been longer. Started with OOO, and now I've seen Den-O, W, Decade, Fourze, and now Wizard. Still have so much more to watch. |

I have to say I loved anything in Fourze that involved the akward relationship between Ryusei and Tomoko. Also the season opener for Wizard was simply amazing.
|
2012 was definitely one of my favorite times to be a fan of anything thanks to Fourze. I love that show with all my heart. I know it has a lot of pacing flaws, and say what you will about the gimmickry, but I absolutely adored it. It takes a lot for me to truly get attached to a show, and a lot more to make me go back and watch it again twice within less than a month of its final episode. Not a perfect show, but exactly what I'm looking for with this genre. Which is space, friends and fun.

Favorite 2012 Toku Moment
The first episode of Kamen Rider Wizard was an incredible moment for me, seeing what this year's fight choreography was going to be like this year was amazing. The episode flowed so well that I instantly decided to stick with Wizard the whole year.
|
I think I'd have to go with Fourze here. Specifically, Gentaro's death. I, much like many others, went into the show thinking he looked goofy and just not generally expecting a lot. And at first he was pretty much just a goofball. But the show really developed and went somewhere, and I think killing Gentaro - even if only for one episode - proved that. It was completely unexpected and it helped remold the two Riders of that show. It was impactful and memorable.... And led to the debut of Cosmic States, whose finishing move was totally awesome. ;)

I think my favorite toku moment of this year had to be the ending of the second garo series. Nothing like getting the character moment I've wanted since I watched the end of the first Garo. Second to that would have to be Super Hero Taisen. I honestly thought it was a decent movie. Not perfect, but not horrible.
|
God, I'm having trouble deciding.
Between Gokaiger vs. Gavan, Megamax, and the end of Gokaiger. Guess I gotta go with Gokaiger's ending. Both the (semi) Zyuranger tribute we got at the last second with Goushi and Armed Tyrannoranger and Akaranger's appearance at the end. Even though my nostalgia lies with Power Rangers, it pulled all the right fanboy heart-strings for me. |
Easy, the final episode of Gokaiger, when they henshin'd without the helmets on.You knew at that point that it was all or nothing. But you still knew that somehow they were gonna win.
|
I would say Gokaiger altogether (The Show, The Film, The Hyper Battle Video, etc.) because they had such wonderful moments in the show as well as the various Gokai Changes the Gokaigers utilized.

I can't remember now if this was something from 2011 or 2012, but I LOVED Megamax. After the mediocre display that was Movie War Core, I was so jazzed to watch Megamax be awesome scene after awesome scene. Some folks just do not like Fourze's story in it but I thought it was good. Either way it does give you the lovely quote; "There's only two moments when a man can cry; When your wallet gets stolen, or when a girl dumps you. What happens when she's an alien??" - Fantastic action, probably the best use of the Showa Riders in recent years (given that they're usually barely speaking in any of their appearances), and you get some awesome new suits all over the place that I'd like to own figures of. Come ooooon Aqua...
Incidentally, if that movie came out on DVD in 2011, then a close second would be the first two-parter for Kamen Rider Wizard, episodes 2 and 3. I think this may be my favorite arc right now. It really does a nice job of introducing Shunpei's character, making you grow to like him for his ambition, his hopes, his dreams... then it's all crushed. He's made to set fire to the book that he believed in all of his life. Watching it play out that way kind of made me feel bad for the poor guy. That's when I knew I was gonna love this show, when it was able to make me care that quickly. It didn't really take me long to grow to like any of the characters, really. This arc even made me like Wajima more, since episode 1 didn't really have a whole lot of screentime for him. Looking forward to seeing how the contest goes. Good luck everyone! |
First, thanks for doing this contest, guys. I'm having fun reading everyone's answers and most are moments that I do agree were pretty cool!
As for mine, well, it has to be the Sentai Legendary War with all the rangers from years past. I love that they were able to pull this off and the result was great!! It's also that which leads to my other truly awesome moment of 2012 and that is the Youtube video taken from Power Morphicon '12 where they tease Megaforce to the audience. More specifically when they show the Legendary War footage and the crowd goes wild. That literally sent chills down my spine :) For the few who may have missed it, check it out |

While not a toku moment strictly, that reference was highly appreciated. But for a strictly toku moment, it'd have to be the Gavan vs Gokaigers fight. I grew up with Gavan and Kamen Rider Black. In fact, Gavan came on just before Black. So to see Gavan back in action, and not only was it the original Gavan but that he's portrayed well rather than treated like some over the hill guy who's no match for GokaiRed... it was a terrific moment in toku. It satiated nostalgia while establishing the "new" character as a strong one, rather than a joke. It was a terrific moment. |
Thanks to Tokunation for the Giveaway opportunity! This has been a great year for Tokusatsu. Despite having so many moments to choose from, my absolute favorite was the “graduation” scene from Fourze.
http://imageshack.us/a/img33/7137/ov...riderfourz.png Even watching it now, it gives me goose bumps to see how far the Amanogawa Kamen Rider Club has come. http://imageshack.us/a/img13/7137/ov...riderfourz.png As they recount their lessons learned throughout the year, I am brought to tears. It’s a cornucopia of feelings, however, as Gentaro’s un-henshined fight with Gamou was just plain amazing. Fourze is one of the few to make me awed and touched at the same time. http://imageshack.us/a/img94/7137/ov...riderfourz.png To finish off this wonderful ceremony, Fourze henshins and delivers an epic Limit Break on Sagittarius. http://imageshack.us/a/img407/7137/o...riderfourz.png http://imageshack.us/a/img145/7137/o...riderfourz.png http://imageshack.us/a/img687/7137/o...riderfourz.png http://imageshack.us/a/img231/867/ov...iderfourzc.png Already it is one of the best Toku scenes I’ve had the pleasure to watch, but what truly makes it my favorite, ever, is the undercurrent of forgiveness and friendship. Despite all of Gamou’s evil actions, Gentarou still proceeds to extend a hand in friendship. It was touching of the Kamen Rider Club to thank Gamou for being their principal. They held no grudge against him and the moral of the entire series has never shined brighter. http://imageshack.us/a/img836/7137/o...riderfourz.png We later learned that the producers wanted to create a light-hearted series to make kids smile after the 2011 disasters in Japan. The gesture was heartwarming, and the series goes on to lovingly proclaim an enduring lesson in friendship and banding together in the toughest of times. It is a much-needed lesson in this difficult world, and its beauty is seen best in this amazing, touching graduation scene. This scene represents all that is great about Fourze, Kamen Rider and Tokusatsu and thus is my favorite toku moment from 2012. Screencaps from Over-time's subs |
My favorite moment...hmmm...probably getting to experience my first Rider series: Fourze and getting into toku in general.
